Abstract: The invention relates to a device for distributing hot feed into the feeding silos of a metallurgical furnace. The device comprises an inlet pipe for receiving the feed from the outlet of a previous process stage. A batching pipe is fitted to the inlet pipe for distributing the feed alternately into the feeding silos through feeding hoppers that are arranged below the inlet pipe and the batching pipe on the periphery of a circle. The inlet pipe and the batching pipe are arranged for rotation with respect to the center axis of the inlet pipe, whereby the feed is directed alternately into each feeding hopper. The batching pipe is arranged between a protective shield, which is insulated from the environment in a gas-tight manner. The distributor of hot feed according to the invention is especially well-suited to feeding homogeneous and free-flowing material, such as preheated and pre-reduced ilmenite into the feeding and batching silos. The invention provides an environmentally safe way to feed the hot feed.

The stackable tray includes a pivoting tray that can be pivoted from a full sheet stack position to an empty sheet stack position. A valley removal mechanism is provided on the pivoting tray to variably support an intermediate portion of the bottom of the stack to compensate for and remove a valley created intermediate ends of the stack due to an aggregate effect of stack media of non-uniform thickness. The valley removal mechanism preferably includes a support surface that contacts a bottom of the stack, a ramp defining a ramp profile, and a ramp follower that guides the support surface to a variable orientation that compensates for the valley as the stack height changes.

Abstract: A printing system for printing images onto copy sheets and tab stock includes a media registration transport for transporting a media sheet along a path. The printing system further includes a sensing system having a plurality of sensors positioned in line and orthogonal to the feed direction of the sheet path for detecting a leading edge of the media sheet. A control system provides for detecting signals at the times when each of the plurality of sensors are occluded and a control algorithm compares every one of the sensor signals with each other of the sensor signals. The system then identifies at least one pair of sensor signals having inconsistent readings with the other of sensor signals and, determines the presence of a tab on the leading edge based on the inconsistent sensor signal readings and calculates sheet skew based on the other sensor signals.
