  • Patent number: 7310059
Abstract: The panes (1) of a naval vessel or military vehicle are often coated with a radar-reflecting layer (20) for reduction of the radar signature of the vessel/vehicle. At the same time this layer increases an enemy's possibility of recognizing the vessel in passive IR reconnaissance since the layer increases the reflectance also for IR radiation to a considerable extent. As a result, the intensity of IR radiation that an enemy receives from the panes is much lower than that from the rest of the vessel, which with signal processing can be used to increase the possibility of recognizing the vessel. According to the invention, it is suggested that the panes (1) on the outer face (8) also have a second layer (21, 22) to increase emittance especially within the IR range 2-20 ?m which is normally used for reconnaissance and the like. This second layer (21, 22) comprises especially two coatings, one of which is active in the IR range 3-5 ?m and the second in the IR range 7-14 ?m.

  • Patent number: 7310061
Abstract: There is provided a highly accurate velocity sensor having a reduced detection error. A sensor circuit unit generates an electromagnetic wave and emits it from a transmission antenna. Furthermore, a reception antenna receives a reflection wave from the ground and a mixer mixes it with a local signal, thereby generating a low-frequency signal. The electromagnetic wave emitted from the sensor circuit unit shapes a beam by a dielectric lens before emitting it toward the ground. Here, the beam shape is such that the beam width in the vicinity of the sensor is smaller than the beam width in the vicinity of the ground.

  • Patent number: 7310062
Abstract: A method of detecting GPS signal tampering uses two GPS receivers. A first receiver measures carrier phases of two or more satellite signals and of a tampered signal. A second receiver measures carrier phases of the two or more satellite signals and the tampered signal. A baseline vector between the receiver antennas is measured. Direction cosine vectors of the two or more satellite signals are computed and a dot product is computed from the baseline vector to translate measurements made at antennas of the GPS receivers to a virtual zero baseline condition. The carrier phase measurements are double differenced to obtain double difference residuals. A test statistic of the double difference residuals is computed and tested for phase coherency. An inconsistency in measured signals is flagged when there is an inconsistency in phase coherence indicating the tampered signal is present.

  • Patent number: 7310065
Abstract: An undersampled microstrip array using multilevel and space-filling shaped patch elements based on a fractal geometry achieves within the same electrical area, the same directivity than can be obtained using conventional elements as square or circular-shaped patches. However, the number of elements for the fractal-based array is less, reducing the complexity of the feeding network and overall array. Mutual coupling can be reduced avoiding radiation pattern distortions. Higher gain than that obtained using classical patch elements within the same electrical can be achieved due to the less complexity in the feeding network.

  • Patent number: 7310089
Abstract: The present invention determines angular position using a potentiometric touch sensor. The sensor has an annular pattern of resistive material on a bottom substrate top surface. Conductive drive lines radially traverse the resistive material so as to make electrical connection with the resistive material. A top substrate is spaced above the top surface of the bottom substrate. A conductive sense layer on a bottom surface of the top substrate is positioned above the resistive material. Pressure applied to either the top substrate or the bottom substrate, such as by the touch of a user, causes a portion of the conductive sense layer to contact a corresponding portion of the annular pattern of resistive material. The angular position of the applied pressure can be determined by measuring at least one electrical parameter between at least one of the conductive drive lines and the conductive sense layer.

  • Patent number: 7310096
Abstract: A method for efficiently processing graphics data for graphics primitives, the graphics data including vertex coordinate information and vertex attribute data. Coordinate information, in the form of homogeneous coordinates, of the graphics primitive determines whether the graphics primitive is to be rendered. If the primitive is to be rendered, then attribute data associated with the location information is retrieved. However, if the data is not to be rendered, then the location information is discarded. By only retrieving parameters for a primitive that is rendered, performance is increased. In one embodiment, the attribute data is fetched before it is known whether or not the graphics primitive is to be rendered, and if not, the prefetch is aborted, and new location information is fetched.
