Abstract: A method for forming fibers/composite material having an anisotropic structure, comprising the steps of mixing an effective amount of fibers with a matrix material to form a deformable mixture containing less than about 96 weight percent of the fibers to about parts per billion of the fibers and wherein the fibers are randomly oriented in the deformable mixture. The deformable mixture can be extruded, stretched or otherwise deformed to form an extrudate. Pressure is applied about the extrudate to substantially compress the fibers in the extrudate to provide the fibers/composite material having an anisotropic structure.

  • Publication number: 20070290403
Abstract: A method for installing a fiberglass or stainless steel liner into a steel casing which results in a reduction of strain on the casing. Conventional means are used to place the liner into the casing and to fill the annular space with cement. Thereafter, maximum design operating pressure on the liner is maintained while the pressure on the annular space is reduced; maintenance of those pressures keep the liner in an expanded state while the grout cures. As a result, the liner shares the load with the casing; pressure from the fluids contained in the system during operation is not transferred to the casing through the grout until the liner's preset internal pressure is reached. The use of the method greatly reduces the possibility of flowline failure.

  • Publication number: 20070290405
Abstract: The present invention discloses the miscibility of inorganic phosphate glass and organic polymer prepared by blending both components in the liquid phase using conventional polymer processing methods. By utilizing low Tg phosphate glasses to plasticize nylon, e.g. polyamide 6, a new class of plasticizer is introduced that allows for the creation of unique nylon polymer composites. These materials display tunable morphologies, interesting properties, and significant reduction in flammability, while easing the processing of nylon through a substantial reduction of viscosity. The addition of a low Tg phosphate glass in small amounts (less than 10% by volume) to a nylon matrix results in a drastic reduction in viscosity and a decrease in the nylon glass transition temperature and flammability, with the capability of adding a low Tg phosphate glass up to 60% by volume. The observed mechanical properties of the nylon/phosphate glass hybrid are consistent with that of plasticized polymers.

Abstract: A programmable card handling machine with a display and appropriate inputs for adjusting the machine to any of a number of games comprises inputs including a number of cards per hand selector, a card game selector, a number of hands delivered selector and a trouble-shooting input. These features also provide for interchangeability of the apparatus for many different games, for many types of cards or decks and in different locations thereby reducing the number of back-up machines or units required at a casino. The display may include a game mode or game selected display, and use a cycle rate and/or hand count monitor and display for determining or monitoring the usage of the machine. Abstract: A puzzle game of the present invention consists of a field of play having associated positions upon which place-indicators are placed during game play along a predetermined game path. Placement of the place-indicators represents a sequential series of steps from a starting point along a game path in the field of play to an end point. Each of the steps is dependent on a predetermined step pattern and the place-indicator is placed on the position upon which the end of the step pattern falls. The solution to the puzzle is achieved by the placement of all place-indicators between the starting point and the end point. In order to indicate a particular game path, at least two place-indicators are pre-placed as givens in the solution. The place-indicators may be, by non-limiting example, numerals, letters or a group of shapes with a predetermined series displayed on the game play interface, but outside of the field of play.
