Publication number: 20170314267Abstract: A set of machines and related systems build structures by the additive assembly of discrete parts. These digital material assemblies constrain the constituent parts to a discrete set of possible positions and orientations. In doing so, the structures exhibit many of the properties inherent in digital communication such as error correction, fault tolerance and allow the assembly of precise structures with comparatively imprecise tools. Assembly of discrete cellular lattices by a Modular Isotropic Lattice Extruder System (MILES) is implemented by pulling strings of lattice elements through a forming die that enforces geometry constraints that lock the elements into a rigid structure that can then be pushed against and extruded out of the die as an assembled, load bearing structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Matthew Carney, Benjamin Jenett, Neil Gershenfeld

Publication number: 20170314274Abstract: A trim strip assembly is provided for use on a corner formed by at least two sheets of drywall. The trim strip assembly includes a trim strip body extending along a body axis that may extend longitudinally, and the trim strip body may have at least one inside surface 18. The trim strip assembly also includes an adhesive layer formed over at least a portion of the at least one inside surface of the trim strip body, the adhesive layer having a softening point range such that when the adhesive layer is heated to a temperature within the softening point range, the adhesive layer bonds to at least one of the at least two sheets of drywall to secure the trim strip body to the at least one of the at least two sheets of drywall.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Guy Rosenthal, Salvatore Immordino

Publication number: 20170314275Abstract: A formable trim strip for use in connection with drywall applications includes two or more layers, including a trim strip body and a backing paper. The trim strip body extends along a body axis and has a top surface and a bottom surface. The trim strip body comprises a polymer material. The backing paper includes a portion secured to the bottom surface of the trim strip body without an intervening layer of adhesive material. The trim strip body is coated onto the portion of the backing paper when a temperature of the trim strip body is within the melting point range such that the bottom surface of the trim strip body contacts the portion of the backing paper. As the trim strip body cools to a temperature below the melting point range, the portion of the backing paper bonds to the bottom surface of the trim strip body.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2016Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Guy Rosenthal, Salvatore Immordino

Publication number: 20170314276Abstract: Apparatuses and methods associated with creating a form to construct a concrete structure (e.g., a concrete building). In embodiments, an apparatus may comprise a number of forming system components, including but are not limited to a plurality of fixed or adjustable posts; a plurality of fixed or adjustable roof struts, a plurality of fixed or extensible frames; and/or a plurality of mounts. The fixed/adjustable posts, the fixed/adjustable roof struts, and the fixed/extensible frames are selectively and adjustably coupled together to create a form of selected dimensions to construct the concrete structure/building on site with reduced number of pours, e.g., a single pour. Other embodiments may be disclosed or claimed.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventor: Donald Sollars

Publication number: 20170314277Abstract: The method includes a tension element, for example in the form of flat steel, that is placed on the structure or structural part and can be guided around a corner. The flat steel can also wrap as a band around the structure, in which the two ends of the flat steel are either connected to one another or are separately connected to the structure by the end anchors or intersect to produce a clamping connection. The flat steel contracts as a result of a subsequent active and controlled input of heat using a heating element and generates a permanent tensile stress and, correspondingly, a permanent prestress on the structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2015Publication date: November 2, 2017Applicants: RE-FER AG, EIDGENOESSISCHE MATERIALPRUEFUNGS-UND FORSCHUNGSANSTALT EMPAInventors: Masoud Motavalli, Benedikt Weber, Wookijn Lee, Rolf Broennimann, Christoph Czaderski, Christian Leinenbach

Publication number: 20170314278Abstract: The present invention relates to a repairable clip and a deck fixing structure using the same. The present invention is characterized by a method for facilitating a method of fastening a middle part again when replacing same within the scope of constructing a deck and, more specifically, by a simple and convenient method for separating a rotary member for repair, which is integrated into the clip, mounting the same to the clip, positioning a new deck material, and thereafter fixing the replaced deck material to a deck assembly by rotating the rotary member with a simple tool, such as an Allen wrench. The present invention for repairing a constructed deck material to its original form with the performance of a clip itself is an invention first attempted in the world.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Jae Youl LEE, Su Mi CHO
