Abstract: An oven may include a cooking chamber configured to receive a food product, an EM heating system configured to provide EM energy into the cooking chamber using solid state electronic components, and control electronics configured to control the EM heating system. The control electronics are configured to enable user selection of a cooking program associated with cooking the food product. The control electronics select a first algorithm to direct application of the EM energy to the food product. The control electronics perform a learning process to receive feedback on execution of the cooking program during execution of the cooking program according to the first algorithm. Responsive to detecting a trigger event during the learning process, the control electronics are configured to select a second algorithm that is different from the first algorithm to direct application of the EM energy to the food product during execution of the cooking program.

Abstract: Methods and devices for detecting sites of low optical reflectivity from optical coherence tomography, OCT, of the retina are provided. The method includes segmenting retinal layers from OCT data, calculating optical reflectivity of each segmented retinal layers from the OCT data, and detecting sites of low optical reflectivity from the calculated optical reflectivity of the segmented retinal layers. The calculated optical reflectivity can be compared against a predetermined threshold obtained from a healthy population. Segmenting can be carried out according to the optical reflectivity of each identified retinal layer. OCT-Microangiography data can be displayed side-by-side or superimposed with the enface images of the calculated optical reflectivity. The device can be combined with OCT equipment, in particular for displaying the detected sites of low optical reflectivity.

Abstract: Method and systems are presented for analysing a wavefront using a spectral wavefront analyser to extract optical phase and spectral information at a two dimensional array of sampling points across the wavefront, wherein the relative phase information between the sampling points is maintained. Methods and systems are also presented for measuring an eye by reflecting a wavefront of an eye and measuring the wavefront at a plurality of angles to provide a map of the off-axis relative wavefront curvature and aberration of the eye. The phase accuracy between wavelengths and sample points over a beam aperture offered by these methods and systems have a number of ocular applications including corneal and anterior eye tomography, high resolution retinal imaging, and wavefront analysis as a function of probe beam incident angle for determining myopia progression and for designing and testing lenses for correcting myopia.

More particularly, in certain embodiments, the invention relates to minimally-invasive, in vivo methods of detecting endothelial and leukocyte antigens that are predictive of diabetic retinopathy (DR) and/or other conditions using protein-conjugated microparticles detectable by a non-invasive detection system, for example, a scanning laser ophthalmoscope. In other embodiments, the invention relates to targeted delivery of drugs or other substances to specific regions of an intraluminal surface of a blood vessel using drug-containing microparticles coated with one or more ligand binding partners.

Abstract: This device and platform seeks to provide a point-of-care diagnostic tool to assess tissue quality. The handheld probe that interfaces with the tissue will have multiple components including fibers that deliver laser light, fibers that detect spectra, fibers that transmit acoustic signals and fibers that conduct force displacement data electronically. The light is generated from a laser light source within the detection console. This console also houses the spectroscopic detector arrays, IR, Raman & others. In addition, if force transduction and/or elasticity is being assessed, the detecting capability to quantify this is also housed in this box. Further components include the ability to provide computation and correlative diagnostic results. Some of these data may be stored in a web-based data storage capability with the ability to utilize large databases of histology images.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a quantitative ex vivo method for the complementary diagnosis of the degree of dental demineralization through the use of Raman spectroscopy, which comprises quantifying the intensities and areas of a plurality of Stoke bands of the spectrum, and defining and calculating indices that result from dividing the areas of certain bands of interest. The diagnosis is determined by the proximity of the values of these indices to the values previously obtained for the normal pattern of dental mineralization established by analyzing healthy dental parts. This method provides a complementary biomedical technique for quantitative ex vivo analysis of the degree of dental demineralization on dental tissue remains extracted by medical prescription, and the information obtained will facilitate the prescription of suitable treatment to reduce or prevent said demineralization.
