  • Patent number: 10420895
Abstract: A data collection device for attachment to an injection device, such as an injector pen, includes a sensor arrangement to detect movement of a movable component of the injection device relative to the data collection device during delivery of a medicament by the injection device, and a processor arrangement configured to, based on said detected movement, determine a medicament dosage administered by the injection device. The processor arrangement may monitor the time that has elapsed since the medicament dosage was administered, and control a display to show the mediacament dosage and elapsed time to provide a memory aid to the user. In an example embodiment, the sensor arrangement includes an optical encoder and the movable component includes a plurality of light barrier formations. The movable component may be a number sleeve that provides a visual indication of a dose programmed into the injection device.

  • Patent number: 10420906
Abstract: An airway management device is provided that may adjust the inflation level of a cuff associated with an endotracheal tube. The cuff inflation may be adjusted in response to an increase in carbon dioxide levels above the cuff, which may indicate a poor seal of the cuff against the tracheal walls, as well in response to a measured intracuff pressure. By using information about the seal quality of the cuff together with information about the cuff pressure, the inflation of the cuff can be adjusted to minimize cuff inflation pressure while maintaining a high quality tracheal seal.

Abstract: The disclosure describes a scheme for managing the operations of a flash memory. The scheme enables the flash memory to be used in a write-once mode to allow non-volatile storage of small amounts of data that must be written repeatedly. Among other things, the scheme eliminates the need to erase sectors of the flash memory, thus eliminating the high current consumption associated with erasures, while enabling preservation of relevant data in those sectors. In the context of an implantable medical device, this scheme is used to store data that is needed after a reset of the device, such as MRI-related data that is/are dynamically adjusted by firmware, or program code updates.

Abstract: Disclosed is a voltage monitoring circuit for use in detecting if a voltage supplied to current-generating circuit is sufficient to allow the current-generating circuit to produce a desired current. In one embodiment the circuit is designed for use in an implantable device that is configured to deliver therapeutic pulses to a patient. The voltage monitoring circuit is configured to produce a signal if a supplied voltage is insufficient to allow a current-generating circuit to deliver a requested current to a set of electrodes. In one embodiment, the voltage monitoring circuit detects a change in a difference between the voltage at a node in the current-generating circuit and the supplied voltage.

Abstract: Described is a system for inducing a desired behavioral effect using an electrical current stimulation. A brain monitoring subsystem includes monitoring electrodes for sensing brain activity, and a brain stimulation subsystem includes stimulating electrodes for applying an electrical current stimulation. Multi-scale distributed data is registered into a graphical representation. The system identifies a sub-graph in the graphical representation and maps the sub-graph onto concept features, generating a concept lattice which relates the concept features to a behavioral effect. Finally, an electrical current stimulation to be applied to produce the behavioral effect is determined.
