The table assembly is pivotally secured within the cabinet and is held therein by a pair of lock plates. The table assembly pivots outwardly from the cabinet and is supported by a pair of folding legs. The table includes two plates, a main table plate and an outer end extension or leaf plate which is pivotally secured to the main table plate. The extension or leaf plate is held in alignment with the main plate by a pair of slider elements which are pinned to the main table plate.

A plate member has two opposed end edges and two opposed side edges. One of the end edges of the plate member is disposed between the struts. Each of the side edges of the plate member has a positioning projection extending into an adjacent one of the guiding grooves. A connecting rod has a first end pivoted to one of the struts at a position above the upper end of the guiding groove and a second end pivoted to an adjacent side edge of the plate member to permit engagement between the engaging members and the positioning projections of plate member when the positioning projections of the plate member are moved to the lower ends of the guiding grooves of the struts.

A self-adjust mechanism is provided which facilitates adjustment of the extension table of the extension assembly upon adjustment of the support surface. The self-adjust mechanism preferably includes a spring biasing inner and outer telescoping tubes of the extension assembly. Leveling assemblies may be mounted on the machine to increase its stability.

The base member comprises transversely extending shafts with which respective lower ends of the legs are connected through lateral parts. In connection with the shafts there are preferably provided supporting members which are arranged to support a plate-shaped floor element for covering of the floor opening, so that the floor element in the collapsed position of the table is located between the legs and the supporting members, and in the erected position of the table is raised to a level flush with the floor surface around the floor opening by means of the supporting members.

    Abstract: A fold-away table is provided for a seat in a vehicle, particularly a motorcoach. The table comprises a mounting structure disposed laterally of the seat, and a carrier structure mounted for displacement in a vertical plane between a lowered storage position and a raised use position. The carrier structure includes a pivot axis having at least one table element mounted thereon. A fold-away table of this type should be readily operable and protected from soiling. To this purpose the mounting structure is formed as a stationary vertical guide structure. The carrier is formed as a guided housing structure containing the table element and permitting it to be displaced between the use position and the storage position. The pivot axis extends substantially horizontally within the housing structure.

The flap (15) normally covers the front face of the cabinet but can pivot about an intermediate transverse axis thereof, to allow access to the cabinet interior. In various alternatives the flap is pivoted to the cabinet sides or to the work surface either directly or via support arms. In use, the work station may be used to accommodate a personal computer whereby the surface (18) supports a keyboard, the top (14) of the cabinet a VDU, the interior of the cabinet accommodates a disc drive, etc. while the pivoted flap serves as a support for paperwork. A transparent support may be attached to flap (15). It can be flexed or bent outwardly about integral hinge portions to allow insertion of paperwork between the support and the flap.

    Abstract: A Pop-up Table Assembly comprising support sections supporting a table telescopically mounted on a stabilizing shaft secured within a drum mounted in the ground or other sub-structure. The table assembly is releasably positioned in either its elevated mode or down mode (within the drum). U-shaped channel members provide a way to guide the reciprocation of the assembly, and are longitudinally secured to the interior wall of the drum. Means for positively locking the assembly in its down mode is provided. Alternative embodiments of counter-balancing mechanisms are disclosed, whereby raising and lowering of the assembly is facilitated. Drainage passage provide for run-off of water that may accumulate upon the stored assembly or while it is in use. A storage chamber is generated between the table assembly elements and the drum, for introduction of furniture or the like to be stored when the assembly is not in elevated mode or used.

The two lateral auxiliary panels include pockets to secure papers and the edges of one auxiliary panel and the housing include lips to limit slippage of papers or writing tools into a seated user's lap.

The interiors of the two slotted openings are finished, and the coffee table has sufficient top surface to still be usable as a table when both foldable tables are removed. Also, the coffee table has a finished bottom surface, and so it can be inverted when the foldable tables are removed to present an unbroken top surface.
