Abstract: A garden hose spray system includes a water pump and a controller with a switch for engaging and disengaging the pump. The pump is used for boosting a water flow through the system. The controller is in communication with the pump, and directs the switch to engage the pump when the water flow exceeds a predetermined, non-zero threshold flow rate. In certain embodiments, the system further includes a variable outlet. The variable outlet is operable at a first flow setting for a flow rate greater than the threshold and a second flow setting for a non-zero flow rate less than the threshold.

Abstract: A collapsible water circulation system for relatively small, enclosed tanks such as used by municipalities, fire districts, and industries. The system in its collapsed configuration is designed to fit through the often small access opening in the tank and then to automatically expand to its extended operating configuration, all without the need for any personnel to enter the tank. The system includes a draft tube extending downwardly from a distribution dish to an inlet anchored on the floor of the tank. The system also includes at least three, elongated flotation arms that can be deployed to extend substantially horizontally and outwardly of the dish. An impeller within the dish is operated to draw water up from the anchored inlet through the draft tube to the dish. The water subsequently passes upwardly through the dish over its upper lip and substantially radially outwardly of it.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and method for the cleaning and/or disinfection of evaporative and/or convective cooling structures. The apparatus comprises means for drawing off predetermined volumes of one or more chemicals (optionally diluted with water) and pumping them into a corresponding number of dilution manifolds. Fluid-flow control means such as flow meters, non-return valves and control valves are employed to ensure that correct predetermined ratios/volumes of each fluid are drawn into the respective dilution manifolds, and to prevent undesired backflow of chemicals. The diluted or undiluted chemical agents then flow into a mixing manifold where they are mixed with other diluted or undiluted chemicals from one or more other dilution manifolds. The mixed chemicals are then delivered by means of an air gun or spray nozzle to clean packing material or other cooling structure components in situ within a cooling tower.

Abstract: A method and associated vessel for transferring liquids from offshore tankers to an onshore storage facility. The system utilizes a flexible pipe that is heavier than the water it displaces, such that the flexible pipe sinks to the sea floor even when empty. The high weight and relatively small profile of the flexible pipe avoids the need for anchoring the pipe to the sea floor. The flexible pipe has a bending radius of no greater than five feet, such that it can be wound onto spools onboard the vessel, and can be rapidly deployed, retrieved, and reused in another location. The vessel containing the spools of flexible pipe is dynamic positioning capable, and contains the equipment required to establish a position onshore to receive the liquid being transferred; means to deploy, retrieve, and repair the flexible pipe; and means to receive liquid from a tanker vessel and pump that liquid through the flexible pipe to the onshore storage facility.

Abstract: A vapor delivery system for delivering a steady flow of sublimated vapor to a vacuum chamber comprises a vaporizer of solid material, a mechanical throttling valve, and a pressure gauge, followed by a vapor conduit to the vacuum chamber. The vapor flow rate is determined by both the temperature of the vaporizer and the setting of the conductance of the mechanical throttle valve located between the vaporizer and the vacuum chamber. The temperature of the vaporizer is determined by closed-loop control to a set-point temperature. The mechanical throttle valve is electrically controlled, e.g. the valve position is under closed-loop control to the output of the pressure gauge. In this way the vapor flow rate can be generally proportional to the pressure gauge output. All surfaces exposed to the vapor from the vaporizer to the vacuum chamber are heated to prevent condensation.

In order to restart the odorant injection system, it is best to purge the unwanted vapors from the odorant pumps. The present pump purge system facilitates purging of unwanted vapors from odorant injection systems in an environmentally friendly fashion. The pump purge system purifies these vapors before they are vented to atmosphere. In addition, the pump purge system accumulates liquid odorant which is a byproduct of the purging process and stores it in a tank to reduce the likelihood of improper disposal. As an option, the pump purge system may also include a liquid odorant recapture system.
