Publication number: 20130213555Abstract: A method of reusing an existing emblem from a vehicle. The method includes the steps of providing the identification of the existing emblem. From there, the dimensional characteristics of the existing emblem can be determined. The determined dimensional characteristics are then turned into a plurality of perforations through an adhesive sheet so that they correspond to the dimensional characteristics of the existing emblem. The existing emblem can then be applied to the adhesive sheet, and in turn, can be attached to a vehicle by way of the adhesive sheet. An entire library of templates corresponding to the dimensional characteristics of a plurality of existing emblems can be created.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2013Publication date: August 22, 2013Inventor: Steven Philip Smead

Patent number: 8218852Abstract: A composite repair system and method for assisting in the repair of a cured composite part in which a damaged portion has been cut out and removed, exposing a plurality of composite plies and their corresponding composite ply edges. The composite repair system may comprise a light source to illuminate the ply edges, an image capturing device to obtain an image of the ply edges, and a computing device for processing the image of the ply edges and creating a map of the ply edges based on the image. The map may be used to manufacture filler plies having peripheral edges shaped to correspond with the composite ply edges for replacing the damaged portion of the composite part.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2008Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: Spirit AeroSystems, Inc.Inventors: Glen Paul Cork, Michael D. Patent number: 8210210Abstract: A method and apparatus for modular pipe repair, the method comprising attaching two enclosure halves over a leak in a pipe to assemble a first repair enclosure and determining if another repair enclosure is needed for another leak in the pipe. If another repair enclosure is needed, the method further comprises drilling in the first repair enclosure drill hole passages in selected angled grooves thereof to connect to a primary groove in the enclosure, attaching a second repair enclosure to pipe, drilling in the second repair enclosure drill hole passages in selected angled grooves thereof to connect to the primary groove in the second enclosure, and attaching hub clamps to the first repair enclosure and the second repair enclosure. Finally, the method comprises injecting sealant into a plurality of injection points to fill the selected angled grooves and the primary grooves in the repair enclosures.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2010Date of Patent: July 3, 2012Assignee: Colt Services, LPInventors: John W. Patent number: 8206529Abstract: Corroded hollow sections, more preferably of orthotropic slabs, are cleaned and de-rusted on the inner surface with a rotating maximum-pressure water-jet continuously guided through the hollow section and angle-adjustable feeler-controlled corresponding to the respective interior surface region and capable of being throttled in critical regions. For the sealing of entering moisture and for corrosion protection as well as to improve the vibration behavior and the strength characteristics of the orthotropic slab, the cleaned and dried inner surface is holohedrally connected with a shapeable and stretchable fabric hose coated with a water-proof plastic in a sealing manner by means of an adhesive and using a pressure medium or a memory plastic hollow profile assuming its original shape under the effect of heat, wherein the internal pressure is maintained up to the curing of the adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2007Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Inventors: Jens Hölterhoff, Kersten Latz

Publication number: 20120152439Abstract: This invention is a method and apparatus for repairing a hole in a surface with a perforated repair patch. The repair patch, which is affixed to and substantially cover over the hole, is indented inwards by applying cement compound into its perforations and pushing the repair patch into the hole as the cement compound hardens. A layer of drywall compound is then applied over the indented repair patch to smooth it with the rest of the wall. The perforated repair patch may include an additional layer of mesh sheet material to minimize cracking of the drywall compound.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2012Publication date: June 21, 2012Inventor: Daniel Hansen

Publication number: 20120121430Abstract: An arrangement and a method to retrofit a wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine is retrofitted by at least one of its blades. The blade is prepared for a connection with the hub of the wind turbine. An extension unit is designed and prepared to increase the surface-area of the blade. The extension unit and the blade are designed and arranged to interact with each other by an opening. Thus the opening might be arranged inside the blade and/or inside the extension unit. The extension unit is connected with the blade by an adhesive, which is applied at least partly within the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2011Publication date: May 17, 2012Inventors: Søren Olsen, Jason Stege, Henrik Stiesdal

Patent number: RE43910Abstract: Apparatus and a method for installing a tubular liner in a pipe, as in repair of underground sewer piping. A feeder is of flexible material, which may be similar to that of which the tubular liner is made, and is connected to an end of the tubular liner. The feeder includes a throat portion through which a quantity of inside-out tubular liner is drawn into the feeder by fluid pressure within the feeder and beyond the throat, and the tubular liner is thence urged by fluid pressure into the pipe where it is to be installed.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2011Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: High Bar, LLCInventor: Stephen T.
