Abstract: A seamed press felt formed from a base fabric material including MD yarns arranged in two superimposed layers joined by the MD yarns at CD folds at opposing ends thereof to form a continuous unbroken tube-like structure. The MD yarns form loops at the folds to define a pintle channel. A generally planar yarn assembly including an array of polymeric yarns bonded to an elastic carrier material that is extensible by at least 1% is located inside the base fabric with the yarns of the array oriented in the CD. A high surface contact area material is bonded to the elastic carrier material at both exterior MD ends adjacent to the MD loops at the folds. Each of the MD ends is anchored in a fixed position adjacent to the loops at the folds. A pintle extends through the channel defined by intermeshing the loops from the opposing ends.

Abstract: A system and process for producing tissue webs is disclosed. The tissue webs are formed from an aqueous suspension of fibers and dried using a through-air dryer. During formation of the web, the web is transferred from a transfer fabric to a throughdrying fabric and then conveyed around a drying cylinder of a through-air dryer. In accordance with the present invention, a pressurized roll emits a gaseous stream through a pressurized zone that pushes and transfers a wet web from a transfer fabric to the throughdrying fabric. The amount of pressure used during the transfer can vary depending upon the particular application and may be used to control the bulk of the web. By using a pressurized transfer roll, the amount the throughdrying fabric is wrapped around the drying cylinder of the through-air dryer can be maximized for increasing the efficiency of the system and the process.

The electrode pair (102, 103) is supplied with a current/voltage from a power source (100), so that an electric field is set up between the electrode pair (102, 103), causing the material particles in the pulp suspension in the wet end to be electrically charged in a desired manner and to move in a desired manner in the pulp suspension in the wet end. The current/voltage of the power source (100) is controlled by means of a measuring and control unit (101) so as to cause the material particles in the pulp suspension to be electrically charged and to move in a desired manner, thus allowing the retention, formation and orientation of the material particles in the pulp suspension to be substantially improved.

Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method of a paper machine or the like for saving energy in the drying section. According to the invention, in the drying section of a paper machine or the like in connection with a pocket space (9) between two drying cylinders (1, 2) and one turn roll (3), there are the following delimiting said pocket space (9): a first drying cylinder (1), a second drying cylinder (2), a turning suction roll (3) and a wire (5, 5a, 5b), which is arranged to travel from the first drying cylinder (1) to the turning suction roll (3) and from there on to the second drying cylinder (2). The arrangement further comprises a box-like runnability component (10) and a sealing element (19) arranged in the lower part of the runnability component (10), in the gap between the runnability component and the turning suction roll (3) in order to seal said gap and thereby to promote the operation of the turning suction roll (3).

Abstract: A device is provided for distribution of 2-13% cellulose pulp to a movable processing surface in a pulp processing device to form a pulp web thereon. An inlet box has an inlet and an outlet defined therein. A rotatable distribution means is arranged for distributing pulp along an entire length of the outlet. The distribution means is placed so that a first distance (a1) between the distribution means and a first outlet wall is greater than a second distance (a2) between the distribution means and a movable processing surface.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel pulp composition for paper or solid board production comprising an oxidized recovered paper pulp and/or an oxidized mechanical pulp into which from 1 to 500 mmol of carboxyl groups per kg and from 1 to 200 mmol of aldehyde groups per kg have been introduced by oxidation. The invention also relates to paper and solid board based on such a pulp composition and also to a process for producing such paper or solid board. The invention also relates to the use of oxidized recovered paper pulp and/or oxidized mechanical pulp for improving the retention and drainage properties of a pulp suitable for producing paper or solid board. The invention further relates to the use of oxidized recovered paper pulp and/or oxidized mechanical pulp for improving, i.e., increasing, the dry strength of paper and solid board.

Abstract: Method of treating a biomass containing a fibrous structure and polysaccharides. According to the method the biomass is subjected to extractive treatment at which it is heated in aqueous phase at an absolute pressure of over 0.6 MPa and a temperature of at least 160° C. for separating polysaccharides from the mass. According to the invention, the pH of the biomass which is subjected to the extractive treatment is not actively lowered during the extraction and after the treatment the pressure is controllably reduced so as not to decompose the fibrous structure of the biomass. The polysaccharides separated from the mass are recovered as a first fraction, the fibrous structure of the biomass as a second fraction and at least one of the fractions is subjected to further processing. By means of the invention it is possible to isolate from the starting materials valuable compounds and groups of compounds by a method suitable for use on an industrial scale.
