Abstract: A system is provided that is conducive to multi-stage stimulation in a near-continuous fashion. That is, unlike conventional stimulation systems, embodiments herein may operate without the requirement of traditional plug-setting, perforating and fracturing interventions on a zone by zone basis for a cemented completion. Rather, the system is outfitted with frac sleeves that may be shifted open to expose the bore to the formation while simultaneously achieving a seal through a ball drop technique. Once more, this manner of operation is rendered practical by the sleeve being of a passable configuration such that cementing of the casing is not impeded.

  • Patent number: 8584758
Abstract: A process for fracturing a lined well uses a packer assembly in a liner string that provides a cement-free segment and interface with the formation. The device has multiple packers with inflatable elements that are run as an integral assembly. After the liner assembly is positioned, cement is circulated into the assembly and wiped from the interior of the liner string into the annulus. Pressure within the liner string is elevated to initiate time delays for the radial inflation of the packer elements. The inflation radially and axially displaces the cement surrounding the elements before the cement sets. Each packer is subsequently opened to expose the frac ports in the packer directly to the formation for frac operations.

Abstract: A capture device for a bore hole of a fluid source, has a base plate (6) that can be anchored at the floor, over the bore hole, and has a bore hole opening (8) through which fluid can be streamed out of the bore hole. An ascending pipe (2) is arranged over the bore hole opening (8). Guide baffles (9) are arranged around the bore hole opening (8), and have blades (10) fixed to the top of the base plate (6) so that the guide baffles (6) can be pivoted and displaced. The blades (10) encompass the longitudinal end (3) of the ascending pipe (2) that faces the bore hole opening (8) like a flower and overlap one another, whereby fluid flowing from the bore hole opening (8) can be captured via the blades (10) and discharged to the ascending pipe (2).

Abstract: Methods for heating a material within a wellbore using nano-particles such as carbon nano-tubes. The material may be a flowable material such as cement, drilling mud, an acidizing fluid, or other material. Generally the methods comprise placing the flowable material in proximity to a radial wall of a wellbore. The methods also include running an energy generator into the wellbore. In one aspect, energizing the nano-particles in the filter cake causes the nano-particles to be activated, and increases a temperature within the flowable material to a temperature that is greater than an initial circulation temperature of the flowable material. Activating the energy generator may also assist in curing the flowable material in situ.
