  • Patent number: 5293646
Abstract: A protective garment consists ofa planar fabric material section having a central area, inner an outer surfaces, top and bottom opposed ends, first and second opposed sides. A first and second independent elongated strips are partially separated from the remaining fabric and extending correspondingly along the first and second opposed sides from the bottom end in the direction of the top end. Each independent strip has a free end. The planar fabric material section further includes first, second and third securing units. The first securing unit removably secures the free end of the first independent strip to the central area of the fabric during formation of a first sleeve. The second securing means removably secures the free end of the second independent strip to the central area of the fabric during formation of a second sleeve. The third securing unit removably secures positioning of said top end around a head of the wearer.

Abstract: A body cover, or clothing, for athletes is disclosed. The body cover is comprised of a first material portion adapted to be placed over the anterior portion of the body of the athletes. The first material portion is comprised of a plurality of longitudinal, attached panels of "NEOPRENE" having a thickness of preferably from about 1 to 3 millimeters. The first material portion is waterproofed, provides insulation and wind protection, and is adapted to hold liquid against the anterior portion of the athlete's body such that the liquid absorbs body thermal energy. A second material portion adapted to be placed over the posterior portion of the body of the athlete is comprised of a plurality of longitudinal, attached panels of "LYCRA". The second material portion allows evaporation of liquid on the posterior portion of the body of the athlete and radiation of thermal energy therethrough. Third material portions attach the first material portion and the second material portion to form the body covering.

  • Patent number: 5275818
Abstract: A communication apparatus enabling a person speaking a native language to communicate with a person who speaks a foreign language or target language. The communication apparatus includes graphic symbols depicting objects which are commonly understood in both the native language and the target language, and text in both the native language and the target language, which is used in conjunction with the graphic symbols. The native language text includes phonetic spellings of the phrases which were translated into the target language. The communication apparatus is applied to any article which is worn, carried or used by persons speaking the native language. The native language text may be inverted so that it is viewable by the wearer of a garment upon which the present invention is applied. Communication is accomplished by selectively pointing to different areas in the grid containing the text and graphic symbols, and by simultaneously pronouncing the phonetic spellings of the phrases.
