Abstract: The invention is a bicycling device and method of use thereof, whereby muscle power can be more efficiently transferred from the cyclist's upper-extremities (arms) to the conventional footpedals via the cyclist's lower-extremities (legs) without need of mechanical contrivance and associated drain on fractional human-power capability. The device is attached proximally to the knee region as a method by which a cyclist may obtain a firm manual handhold, whereby the cyclist can grasp the device with his hand and proceed to exert appropriate downward-thrust or upward-thrust (during up-stroke using shoe/pedal-cleats) supplied from upper-extremities according to the regular cyclic rotation of the associated footpedal. Since upper extremity thrusting is applied directly through mechanism of the cyclist's own lower extremities, the need for manufactured mechanical contrivance and its associated weight penalty has been averted.

Abstract: A fashion belt with a built-in lumbar support. The belt employs two flexible straps, the ends of which overlap and are detachably secured to form a contiguous band that encircles and supports the lumbar region of an individual. The straps are placed in relation to each other with securement sections positionable on each side of the individual's waist. An interchangeable buckle adorns the band.

Abstract: A belt having first and second ends is adapted to encircle the waist of a user. A quick-release fastener is provided between the two ends and is releasable by pulling outwardly on a protruding hand loop at one free end of the belt. A leash can be secured to the belt at a location between its two ends. The belt provides normal control to a leashed animal or child, allowing the user's arms to swing freely while walking or running. Continuous control of an animal or child during and after release of the belt is provided by grasping the hand loop and pulling outwardly, thereby causing a portion of the belt to act as a hand-held leash extension.

Abstract: A child's waistbelt and leash for protection against abduction of a child including a flexible waistbelt having a length and a releasably securable closure, a releasably securable flexible cover, releasably securable over the releasably securable closure, the releasably securable flexible cover securely affixed to the flexible waistbelt, a leash having opposed first and second ends securely affixed at the first end to the releasably securable flexible cover, and a flexible cover securing loop affixed to and extending from the first end of the leash adapted to cooperate with the leash so that the releasably securable flexible cover may be releasably secured over the releasably securable closure and the flexible cover securing loop tightened around the releasably securable closure when the leash is tensioned by pulling the leash against a resisting force of the flexible waistbelt when worn by a child.

Abstract: A clothing accessory device comprises a body part, a first fastener on the body part for coupling the body part to a strap of a brassiere, and a second fastener on the body part for coupling the body part to an article of clothing overlying the brassiere during use thereof. The second fastener includes a spring loaded mechanism or component for engaging and fixing the article of clothing relative to the body of the clothing accessory device. The spring loaded mechanism generally includes a pair of opposed jaws biased towards one another by a spring. The jaws may be slidably or translatably coupled and biased towards one another by a compression spring. One of the jaws is fixed to the body part of the clothing accessory device and the other jaw is provided on an ancillary member slidably coupled to the body part, the compression spring being disposed between the ancillary member and the body part.

Abstract: A rescue watch having a container chamber in which high pressure air or gas is stored, an air bag housed in a central cavity of the container chamber, a first button and a second button, a watch disposed on top of a pivotal cover member which is used to seal the central cavity in which the air bag is housed. High pressure air or gas can be introduced into the air bag when the first button is actuated, permitting the cover member to pivot open and the air bag to pop out instantly; and the gas or liquid for self defence can be discharged via a nozzle when the second button is actuated. The inflated air bag can keep a person floating in water in emergency waiting for rescue.

Abstract: A safety sport belt having a waist belt and at least one shoulder strap slidingly connected to the waist belt. The waist belt and the strap comprised of a polyester mesh fabric coated with reflective material. A transparent strip is centrally aligned on outer surface of the shoulder strap and the waist belt, which is stitched over a non-transparent strip of a polyester reflective material. The waist belt has a holder for radio and another holder for liquid container and the shoulder strap has a container for holding lock key and a second container for holding a defensive spray applicator.

Abstract: A device to prevent rape of a person wearing trousers or shorts is in the form of a locking, cut resistant belt that has the external appearance of an ordinary belt. A flexible, cut resistant cable is secured to the underside of the belt. A special clasp is attached to one end of the cable. The other end of the cable is engaged by the clasp at adjustable distances from the end to thereby snugly encircle the waist with the belt. The clasp is locked in the cable engaged position by a small padlock held within an elastic pocket. The clasp, padlock and pocket are all concealed flat against the underside of the belt.

Abstract: A cover for enclosing a belt of a back support brace. The inventive device includes an outer cover assembly for coextensively covering an outer rear surface of a lumbar support belt. A securing assembly is extendable about the belt to releasably couple the outer cover assembly thereto so as to protect and improve aesthetic appearance of the belt.

Abstract: A convertible abdominal support belt for securing around the waist of a user has an insulator insert panel for adding warmth to the user which may be removed when coolness is desired.

Abstract: A belt and buckle assembly in which the clamping plate which is turned about a transverse pivot pin at one end of the buckle has two perpendicular teeth and is supported on a torsional spring; the belt has two longitudinal series of sloping teeth and a plurality of longitudinal rows of spaces alternatively disposed at a back side thereof near the tail; the teeth of the clamping plate allow the sloping teeth of the belt to pass forward and stop them from backward movement; the belt is released from the buckle when the clamping plate is moved downward to compress the torsional spring and to shift the teeth into the longitudinal rows of spaces.

Abstract: A karate belt having a body to which is fixed a tying strap. The body of the karate belt is secured to the waist of a user independent of the tying strap. The tying strap remains free so that the user can practice tying a predetermined knot without being impeded or distracted by the need to simultaneously hold the belt about the user's waist while attempting to tie the knot.

A vertical connecting strap that extends between the upper and lower strap and has a top looped portion capable of receipt therethrough the upper strap and a bottom looped portion capable of receipt therethrough the lower strap and a middle portion therebetween.

Abstract: A fireman's back brace including a lumbar spinal support belt disposed about a user's torso by a first coacting fastening means, a straplike tensioning member pair affixed to the lumbar spinal support belt and being wrappedly secured about the user's torso using a second coacting fastening means, manual engagement loops affixed to free ends of the straplike tensioning member pair, and a releasable means for affixing the fireman's back brace to existing garmentlike firefighting equipment. The fireman's back brace is composed of flame retardant materials.

A support belt (9) has a first fastener (14) at each end (15), in which the first fastener (14) is an interlocking system with a second fastener (19) which is at a free end (17) of the tightening straps (13). A carrier device (11) is attachable to both the first fastener (14) of the support belt (9) by the use of a third fastener (27) and a fourth fastener (31) to provide more secure hold by the support belt (9).

Abstract: A shooter's support belt that can be used by competition shooters, police officers, service personnel, security officers and others to simultaneously support a wearer's lower back while virtually immobilizing an outer gun holster and belt to increase gun draw speed, whereby the support belt provides a relatively stiff support platform having hook and loop fastening material permanently attached between the belt ends and a fastening strap extending from one end lined on both sides with hook and loop fastening material so that 360.degree. of hook and loop fastening material is always provided for releasably attaching an outer belt and holster system having a corresponding hook and loop liner.

Abstract: An elastic strap having at least two opposing belt receiving slots through which the free end of a belt is threaded. Preferably, the strap is made of neoprene. The belt receiving slots are reinforced by either grommeting or stitching. The distance between the belt openings is slightly less than the width of the compact portable device which is secured between the outside wall of the belt and the inside wall of the elastic strap. When the belt is tightened around the body of the active wearer, the relative movement of the secured compact portable device and the body is minimized even if the wearer is engaged in vigorous exercise. A second embodiment which features an overlapping elastic strap permits the active wearer to access the control of the compact portable device without interrupting his or her routine. Moreover, the padding of neoprene strap protects the compact portable devices from accidental bumps and knocking against hard objects.

Abstract: A releasable garment support device is provided for pants, trousers and other garments whereby the waist of the garment can be readily adjusted to fit a wearer who rapidly increases or decreases his waist size. The device comprises a thin, elongated member which is attached at each end inside the waistband to form a chord along an arc of the waist circumference to reduce the effective size of the waist opening.

Abstract: A personal protection device includes a belt which conceals a whip in an internal sheath formed therein. The whip has a handle which also is concealed by an end portion of the belt. The whip can be quickly and easily withdrawn from the sheath in the belt by releasing the end portion and grasping the handle, all in a substantially single motion. The whip material allows sufficient flexibility to be worn comfortably around the waist, but is rigid enough to be an effective striking device. Embodiments for sports and uniform use are disclosed.

Abstract: A safety device is disclosed which is worn by a person but does not interfere with movement of the limbs, and is provided with handles that may be grasped to assist in carrying, stabilizing or moving the person. A girdle-like device of cloth construction is worn about the waist and is formed by a flexible panel having a T-shaped configuration before application to the wearer. This configuration presents a pair of opposed arms which are brought about the waist and secured to form a band, and a single connecting element that extends front to rear under the crotch and is joined to the band.

Abstract: A belt buckle has a storage space dimensioned to receive a condom. There is a cover for the storage space, and a latch which releasibly engages the cover over the storage space. The latch is releasible only when the belt buckle is unbuckled. The cover may be hingedly connected to the body and may have a boss which passes through an aperture in the body to engage an aperture in the belt when the belt buckle is buckled.

Abstract: A belt designed for size adjustability, self-sealing closure, and temporary engagement to the waistband of skirt/slack of the wearer. The belt utilizes an outer face of fashion fabric and an inner face of fabric of mutually adhesive material with the addition of one relatively small strip of mutually adhesive material on one end of the fashion fabric and a closure strip traversely affixed to the opposite end of the fashion fabric. A continuous band is formed by engaging the small strip of mutually adhesive material to the inner fabric at any point along the circumference. The closure strip is folded around the engaged belt and then temporarily affixed to the inner fabric in c-shaped fashion by mutually adhesive material strips securely affixed to the ends of the closure strip.

Abstract: A pleated, adjustable strap member is useful in securing a garment to a wearer. The strap member has first and second strap ends and can be attached to the garment adjacent the strap ends. The strap member also includes an elastic region and a pleated region, both located between the strap ends. The pleated region includes at least one Z-fold that is maintained with a releasable bond.

Abstract: A harness is provided for a motorcyclist and the like which consists of a pair of shoulder straps to be worn by a driver of a motorcycle. A waist strap is attached to the shoulder straps, while an upper back strap is attached between the shoulder straps and a lower back strap is attached between the shoulder straps. A pair of grip handles are each attached to one shoulder strap between the upper back strap and the lower back strap, so that a passenger sitting behind the driver on the motorcycle can hold onto the grip handles for anchorage and safety, while the driver will wear the harness in comfort.

Abstract: As is well-known in the prior art, flexible elongate rope-like tethers have a leadward-end attached to a leadwardly-impelled aquamarine equipment (e.g. surfboard, towed water-ski, etc.) and having a trailward-end securely attached to the towed operator (e.g. a surfboarder, a water-skier, etc.). It is also well known in the prior art that the aquamarine's tethered operator might find himself/herself in a visually discernible perilous situation and wherein the elongate tether should be disengaged from the towing aquamarine device. Accordingly, the present invention provides a vertical-pin type releasably-lockable device that has the required secure attachment to the operator's body, but wherein the operator can manually vertically withdraw the vertical-pin portion of a releasable-lockable device to quickly withdraw himself/herself from the leadwardly tethered aquamarine equipment whenever the operator somehow discerns a perilous condition.

Abstract: An infant garment band including fastener ends to secure the band in surrounding relationship relative to a waist portion of an infant is provided to include a plurality of fastener members extending above and below the band for securement of an infant tee shirt and diaper relative to the infant. A modification of the invention includes a locking loop directed through a forward surface of the band through the fastener portion for mounting a tether line thereto, wherein the apparatus further is arranged to provide for securement clasps mounted to a rear surface of the band to permit securement of the band and the infant relative to a cart structure and the like preventing inadvertent and accidental loss of the infant from such transport vehicles.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for blousing a pant leg. The central hole of a tubular, torus shaped, horizontally positioned, elastic sleeve is of a size to accept a calf of a person's leg. The sleeve includes a pair of opposing slits that each provide entry into the interior of the sleeve from above. A pair of foundation forms each have a curved, horizontally extending first portion positioned within the sleeve for providing conformal alignment of the sleeve with the natural curvature of a human calf. Each form further includes a second portion contiguous with the first portion and extending vertically from the first portion for protruding through one of the slits of the sleeve. A strap attachment slit is further included on each second portion for engaging at least one elastic anchoring strap, the strap holding the sleeve in place on the calf at a position adjacent to, and above, the top of a boot.

Abstract: An apparatus for shifting the body weight of a skier from a skier's legs to the skis for enhancing the skier's performance and minimizing leg strain comprises a spring assembly including a loop of elastic rod-shaped material stretchable during crouching movement of a skier's legs between a standing position and a fully crouched position of the skier. A housing defining an elongated channel for enclosing a portion of the loop supports the stretchable material and parallel rod-shaped branches terminating in a base bend. The base bend is secured within one end of the housing. The housing also includes a socket for receiving rigid poles therein and supporting the poles in vertical positions above the skis. The top ends of the poles have pulleys therein over which a cord is fed extending from a top bend of the loop of elastic material to straps disposed about the thigh or thighs of the skier's legs.

Abstract: The stabilizing belt comprises a pliable belt band, means for securing the band about the waist of the forward person of a tandem pair, and at least two discrete hand grip assemblies for the rearward person of the tandem pair. Each of the hand grip assemblies is adjustable to different locations along the belt band and yet is securely held at a selected location along the belt band when the belt band is secured in taut condition about the waist of the forward person. An anchor member is the base structure of each hand grip assembly. It is mounted on the belt band for adjustability along the belt band. A loop of material is then carried by the anchor member and has a portion in spaced relationship from the belt band for hand gripping by the rearward person.

The second end-portion of the belt, which mounts the buckle, is slightly larger in diameter than the first end-portion, which second end-portion defines an open entrance mouth and a hollow interior volume which telescopingly receives therein a section of the first end-portion, depending upon the length of the first end-portion extending through the buckle. The interior volume may also be used for storing valuables therein before inserting the first end-portion therein.

Abstract: An adjustable clavicle strap is disclosed, joined to a posture training device. The strap has two portions which extend from an object which is to be fastened to the user. Each portion has an end away from the object and a tether is connected between each such end to keep the ends in the general proximity of each other.

Abstract: A belt construction is set forth, including an elongate flexible belt member defined by a constant predetermined height, including hook and loop fasteners at opposed terminal free ends of the belt for securement of the belt rearwardly of a driver of a motorcycle. The belt includes a plurality of securement handles slidably mounted about the belt for grasping by a passenger of the motorcycle. Each handle includes a rectangular plate-like framework, with a medially positioned central support flange defining spaced openings, wherein one of the openings includes a locking flange mounted at an obtuse angle relative to a side leg plate of the support flange for locking securement of the handle member relative to the belt during use.

Abstract: A belt designed to simulate the appearance of an expensive leather belt comprises a belt strap to form exclusively of molded plastic and having its front face and edge substantially uniformly machine finished. A fastener is secured to the belt strap adjacent one end thereof for operatively fastening the one strap end to the other strap end.

Abstract: A waistband is disclosed herein for use in maintaining articles of clothing in place while being worn, and which includes an elongated waistband having tufted or napped surfaces on opposite sides thereof for frictional engagement with the clothing. Opposing opposite ends of the waistband include a hook and pile closure for adjustment to the wearer and for releasable fastening of the waistband.

Abstract: A belt assembly for sizingly adjusting the fit of a garment in the crotch region thereof. The belt assembly comprises first and second buckle closure members with an elongate belt secured thereto and forming first and second loop portions therebetween. The belt is applied to the body of a wearer with the first loop portion encircling the wearer's waist, and the second loop portion encircling the lower posterior abdomen of the wearer below the first loop portion, with the second loop portion reentrantly passing forwardly between the legs of the wearer and forwardly upwardly to a frontal proximal extremity which is fixedly secured in proximity to the matably locked buckle closure members. The belt assembly of the invention is particularly useful to sizingly adjust oversized protective garments, e.g., of the disposable type, to conformably fit the wearer.

Abstract: Athletic team identification belts are made of vinyl and are secured by VELCRO type fasteners. An additional fastener secured toward the center of the belt, on the inside surface, allows a second belt to be secured to the first, and draped over the users shoulder. The material portion of the fasteners extend at intervals along the belt from one end at least one third of the length of said belt, on the outside surface. The hook fasteners are on the inside toward the other end of the belt in a strip preferably one half inch wide. In an alternate embodiment the hooks are located on the outside surface of the belt.

Abstract: An attachment device for attaching a firefighter's trousers to the firefighter's boots, in which the trousers cover a portion of the firefighter's boots. The attachment device maintains the firefighter's trousers in covering relationship to the boots, and portions of the trousers cannot become lodged on the upper edge of the boots as the firefighter bends and crawls and the like. Each attachment device has a band which encompasses one of the firefighter's boots. A strap extends from the band and has fastener elements which attach to portions of the firefighter's trousers which encompass the boot. Thus, the trousers are attached to the boot.

Abstract: An attachment device for attaching a firefighter's trousers to the firefighter's boots, in which the trousers cover a portion of the firefighter's boots. The attachment device maintains the firefighter's trousers in covering relationship to the boots, and portions of the trousers cannot become lodged on the upper edge of the boots as the firefighter bends and crawls and the like. Each attachment device has a band which encompasses one of the firefighter's boots. A strap extends from the band and has fastener elements which attach to portions of the firefighter's trousers which encompass the boot. Thus, the trousers are attached to the boot.

Abstract: A pantleg restraining band is provided which is somewhat like a removable cuff for the lower end of the pantleg. The unit will ordinarily come in pairs, and comprises a band, which may be elastic, and which defines spaced, inverted pockets which receive plastic clips to clip onto the pantleg. The band has hook-and-loop fastener material so that it can be wrapped around the bottom of the pantleg and engaged on itself to peg the pants.

Abstract: An article of sportsman's equipment for use by sportsmen engaged in endurance oriented activities such as marathons, etc., is provided in which a plurality, generally from four to eight pouches for nutrients are provided on a belt. The belt and pouches are made of flexible sheet material having a weight of not more than 7.5 ounces/sq.yd. and preferably from about 1.75 to about 6.0 ounces/sq.yd.

Abstract: A carrier for skis which converts to a belt when not in use. An adjustable length carrying strap includes a pocket at each end which house retractable holding straps for fastening around skis. The holding straps are faced with Velcro material so that the skis can be conveniently held. When not being used to hold skis, the holding straps are retracted into the pockets of the carrying strap so that the carrying strap can be used as an attractive belt.
