Abstract: An adjuvant applicator comprises a balloon coupled to a distal end of a tube. The balloon has an inflated state and a deflated state. The exterior surface of the balloon includes a coating of an adjuvant. In one embodiment, the adjuvant is configured to absorb energy from laser light. In a method, the adjuvant applicator is provided. The balloon is inserted into the patient adjacent target tissue. The coating of adjuvant is then applied to the target tissue using the adjuvant applicator by inflating the balloon to the inflated state, which places the adjuvant in contact with the target tissue. Next, the balloon is removed from the patient and the adjuvant coated tissue is exposed to laser light. In one embodiment, the exposure of the adjuvant coated tissue to the laser light ablates the target tissue.

Abstract: Dimers of avidin and streptavidins (diavidins) are described wherein the linker is suberate, which in turn, is bound to different functional groups (—NH2 o-COOH) of avidin. As compared to avidin, the diavidins have shown the ability to increase the amount of labelled biotin on the target, when used in an in vitro pretargeting test using supported human tenascin, the biotinylated anti-tenascin monoclonal antibody (Mab-B), avidin/diavidin, and biotin-3H. The use of such diavidins is also described in cancer diagnosis and anticancer therapy based on the three-step pretargeted radioimmunotherapy procedure.

Abstract: An apparatus for preparing a pharmaceutical for transient application includes a tray having a sealed compartment, a vial of an ophthalmic formulation of mitomycin-C, a diluent carrier containing sterilized water, and a syringe that are all contained together in a single package. The component parts of the apparatus are used together to reconstitute the contents of the vial with the water in the diluent carrier, and then draw the reconstituted drug into the sealed compartment of the tray by a suction force produced by the syringe. In the tray compartment, the reconstituted drug is absorbed in an absorbent pad. The tray is opened to remove the pad and the absorbed drug from the tray compartment for use of the pad in transient application of the drug.

Clear storage pouches which contain the medical supplies and equipment are attached by Velcro, for easy removal, to the interior side of the medical pack. This arrangement allows for immediate visible access to every item stored in each pouch/compartment. Each pouch has a clear sewn-in compartment in the front of same, to insert labels therein providing a list of the contents. The label is inserted in the compartment to allow the contents of the pouch to be easily determined. The removable pouches can be replaced with additional pouches that contain medical supplies or equipment oriented toward a variety of different medical emergencies.

The prong protector includes a housing having an interior surface, for receiving the body portion of the nasal cannula thereon, and first and second sidewalls extending from said interior surface and a cover operatively attached to said housing for defining an open configuration and a closed configuration. The first and second sidewalls have an indented portion along a top edge for receiving the first and second supply tubes therein, such that, in use, the first and second supply tubes extend outside of said housing. The prong protector further includes restraining means for substantially preventing movement of the body portion within said housing.

Abstract: The present invention provides novel methods and kits for removing unhealthy or necrotic pulp tissue from inside the root canals of a tooth, and to replace it with new vascularized tissue created by regenerative endodontic treatment. The present invention provides alternatives to current root canal therapies, as well as obturation of the root canal with dental materials.

Abstract: A handle assembly facilitates the removal of a sterile inner tray containing sterile medical instruments from a medical kit during an OR procedure. The handle assembly may have a handle coupled with an elongated member having a male end and a female end. The inner tray may be wrapped in medical packaging. Subsequently, the elongated member may be wrapped around the inner tray and the male and female ends interconnected. The inner tray may be positioned inside of an outer tray. A bacterial barrier may be formed over a portion of the outer tray to enclose the inner tray. The inner tray, including the medical instruments, may then be sterilized by a sterilization process. During an OR procedure, the handle assemble allows a sterile nurse to remove the sterile inner tray from the non-sterile outer tray without making contact with the non-sterile outer tray and/or contaminating the sterile medical instruments.

Retaining elements are located on the exterior surface of the tubular portion adjacent to the distal end for engaging an interior surface of a conduit with a flexible wall to releasably retain the conduit on the distal end of the tubular portion. A pair of wings extend outwardly from the tubular portion in opposite directions. The kit also includes elements for performing placement of the subdural evacuating port device in the patient.

Fluid is taken from the patient, typically with a sterile syringe and transferred to the non-sterile field where the fluid is processed. The processed fluid is then drawn into another syringe in the non-sterile field and a distal end of the first syringe is place within the inlet port of the sterile main body. A distal end of a second sterile syringe is inserted into the outlet port, where the distal ends of the sterile syringe and the non-sterile syringe do not make contact. As a plunger is forced into a chamber of the first non-sterile syringe to force the fluid out of the first syringe, the plunger of the second sterile syringe is retracted such that a chamber in the second syringe has a sufficient volume to store the processed liquid.

Abstract: The invention, in an aspect, relates generally to a surface adapted to be worn by a user which provides one or more compartments to store one or more supplies. More particularly, in an aspect, the invention provides a first-aid kit, which can be single or multi use, made of a strong, flexible, waterproof and lightweight material that can be worn on the forearm of user. The first aid kit can be secured to the user via Velcro, an elastic band or other securing device, method or means that enables the kit provide easy access to all of the supplies required to assist an injured person. The kit can have one or more different, various sized compartments to carry at least one or more of gauze pads, q-tips, petroleum jelly, surgical gloves, antibiotic pads, small cylinders or other supplies. In addition, in an aspect, one or more compartments can be provided to carry supplies which have a one way flow valve to extract medicine required to stop bleeding, swelling or other injuries.
