Movable Separating Elements Patents (Class 210/324)
  • Patent number: 6596164
Abstract: The rotary flat membrane separation apparatus comprises: a plurality of hollow rotary shafts; a plurality of rotary flat membrane disks mounted on each of the plurality of hollow rotary shafts at regular intervals, the plurality of rotary flat membrane disks mounted on adjacent two of the plurality of hollow rotary shafts being alternately arranged side by side in equal intervals; and a plurality of collars, each of the plurality of collars being arranged between adjacent two of the plurality of rotary flat membrane disks mounted on each of the plurality of hollow rotary shafts. The apparatus is characterized in that a diameter of the collars is between 0.18-0.34 times a diameter of the rotary flat membrane disks. Thus, the effective membrane area can be as large as possible while preventing the vibration of the rotary flat membrane disks caused by the rotation.

  • Patent number: 6558545
Abstract: The invention encompasses a system for the cross flow filtration of fluid media using membranes. The system has in a first embodiment two shafts, only one of which is hollow, with each shaft running through an axis of its given disc. The disc of each shaft is positioned offset with respect to one another to have a region of overlap therebetween. The region of overlap serves to enhance the efficient operation of the system by reducing the degree of settling of retentate on the disc of the hollow shaft, because of the wiping or cleaning effect achieved upon rotation of each shaft by a drive system. In another embodiment, both shafts are hollow.

  • Patent number: 4454032
Abstract: Fast filtering apparatus, particularly for biological liquids. It comprises in combination:an injection device equipped with a cylindrical reservoir, whose bottom is sealed by a porous pellet and whose top is sealed by a piston displaceable in translation in the cylindrical reservoir, the latter containing the liquid phase to be filtered;a filter support device comprising a cylindrical chamber, whose upper part is sealed by a porous pellet serving as a support for the actual filtering material;a device for bringing about the fast, temporary contact between the injection device and the filter support device;an electronic control assembly controlling each filtering operation, by simultaneously acting on the contacting device and on the mechanical means for the translation of the piston.

  • Patent number: 4096062
Abstract: Suspended solid particles are separated from a fluid flow by dividing the flow into partial fluid flows in flow channels having an upper filter surface travelling upstreams and a lower filter surface travelling downstreams, controlling the flow velocity in the channels such that the flow is turbulent but at the same time low enough to allow for sedimentation of the suspended material to form a clear top layer off so that more than half of the liquid fed to the channel is filtered through the upper filter surface, suctioning less than half of the liquid fed into the channel through a sediment formed on the lower filter surface, and finally removing the sediment from the lower surface.
