Patent number: 5814217Abstract: A magnetic separator for purifying coolant including sludge mainly comprising needle-shaped chips for the purpose of recycling. A comb-type guide plate formed of a magnetic substance material is provided before a squeezing roller, in such a manner that convex and concave portions are in conformity with the magnetic lines of force produced by the arrangement of magnets of a fixed magnet-group cylinder stored in a rotary cylinder. Thus, magnetic flux curtains are formed between the convex portions and the rotary cylinder. Needle-shaped chips which have come as attracted sludge standing in the shape of a jet on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary cylinder are interrupted from going ahead by the magnetic flux curtains, and become accumulated sludge, and are led to lying attracted sludge on the left and right sides. Thus, the attracted sludge is prevented from stabbing a squeezing roller, and operations of extracting liquid from the sludge are continued without causing any trouble.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1996Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: CNK Co., Ltd.Inventors: Minoru Yamazaki, Hidenori Sano

Patent number: 5277809Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a centrifuge for removing solids located on a cylindrical casing wall (3) of a rotating centrifuge, in particular solids precipitated in the centrifuge from a liquid-solid mixture, to a solids exit opening (6) by sweeping the entire casing inner wall (9) in the direction of the solids exit opening (6). In order to reduce clogging, it is proposed according to the invention that in each case the casing inner wall (9) is swept in strips up to the solids exit opening (6), during one sweep up to the solids exit opening (6) only a part of the casing inner wall (9) is swept, and after a certain time the entire casing inner wall (9) is swept by strips (11) swept sequentially in time.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1991Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Inventor: Wolfgang Eder

Patent number: 5268100Abstract: A manure separating apparatus includes a trough with angularly bottom surfaces that converge downwardly to a discharge opening. A drain screen is located above the bottom trough surfaces and includes somewhat similarly angled downward converging infeed and discharge surfaces. The infeed section of the drain screen is approximately twice as long and at a smaller angle to the horizontal than the discharge screen section. A manure/liquid slurry may be introduced at a top infeed end of the screen and moved downwardly along the infeed section of the screen by a paddle conveyor. Separation of solids occurs primarily along the infeed screen section. The slurry is then moved angularly upwardly along the discharge section of the screen for final dewatering. The discharge section is spaced above the trough bottom to avoid liquids on the trough bottom below to facilitate dewatering of the solids before discharge.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Inventor: Kirk Hartzell

Patent number: 5264138Abstract: A method and apparatus for fibrous suspensions in the wood processing industry and more specifically to a so-called drum cylinder, the basic construction of which comprises a vessel, into which suspension being thickened is supplied and a wire-surface cylinder rotating in the vessel. The drum filter is characterized in that the closure member of the drum filter has a channel for leading gas from the filtrate tubes through the compartments of the distribution chamber to the outside of the closing member. The method is characterized in that the operation phase of the filter cylinder is divided into five separate stages. In the first stage, when the cylinder descends on to the vessel, air and the initial filtrate are discharged from the filtrate components and the formation of the pulp web on the wire surface begins. In the second stage, filtrate is discharged with vacuum and the formation of the pulp web continues.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1991Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: A.
