Abstract: YA tamper indicating dispensing closure for attachment to an originally filled container to indicate prior opening or tampering. The closure has a base cap with a dispensing orifice therethrough and an upstanding retention sleeve. A lid is hinged to the base cap and has a tamper indicating disk attached to it by a pin extending through the lid. In its originally packaged condition, the pin extends into the retention sleeve with the lid closed. A frangible area on the disk around the pin breaks upon initial opening providing evidence of tampering or prior opening.

Abstract: A hollow vertical cyliner is open at its lower end. A deck having an opening communicating with the interior of the cylinder seals the upper end of the cylinder. A cap for the top end has essentially the same shape and size as the top end. The cap has a first relatively small section and a second relatively large section. The first section is secured to a corresponding portion of the top end. The two sections have facing edges which are spaced from each other except for a common central region which defines a second integral living hinge. A prong is secured to the second section and is insertable into and removable out of the opening in the deck.

Abstract: A stopper incorporates a base (1) with a pouring opening (15) and a one-piece cap (2) divided into two sections. The cap (2) is connected to the base (1) through a flexible-strip hinge (3). The part (20) of the cap (2) closer to the flexible-strip hinge (3) and the part (21) further from the hinge are connected to each other through a snap hinge (4). There is at least one opening (17) in the base (1) in which a matching catch (26) on the part (20) engages, whereas the part can still be opened and closed freely through the snap hinge (4).

Abstract: A one piece plastic closure comprises a base which is attachable to a container and a cap attached to the base of the closure by a hinge. A safety band is molded together with the base, to which it may be attached by webs. The safety band overlays approximately half the perimeter of the cap and its height is generally the same as that of the cap itself. In this way, the cap cannot be grasped in the area opposite the hinge, and thus cannot be opened. A lug may additionally be provided on the cap which is engageable in a corresponding recess in the safety band to provide the closure in a closed and sealed condition, thus holding the closure and preventing it from opening under the effect of excess pressure in the container.

Abstract: An injection-molded thermoplastic closure with shake-and-spoon apertures and associated flaps for selectively closing and opening the apertures. The flaps are releasably retained in their closed positions by catch elements which provide retention forces that are relatively insensitive to dimensional and shape variations in the body resulting from the molding process. In one embodiment, the cap has "freeze points" and a gate location that reduce the tendency of the cap to assume an oval condition when cooled from molding temperatures. A wide sealing ledge cooperates with a central support for a liner seal positioned in the cap to seal the mouth of a container.

The two sections have adjacent edges disposed along a curved line which extends across the deck, these edges being secured to each other at opposite ends of the line and being otherwise unsecured to each other. The secured edges at each end of the line each constitute a separate integral living hinge. The first section is secured to the top end in a region spaced from both hinges. A prong is secured to the second section and is insertable into and removable out of the opening in the deck.

Abstract: This invention comprises a two part closure, for a container, comprising a top cap hingedly connected to an inner cap which is adapted to be semi-permanently positioned over the mouth of an associated container, a depending skirt on the inner cap and a trigger forming part of the skirt of the inner cap, actuation of the trigger normally being prevented by engagement of the trigger with an arcuate bead on the outside of the associated container whereby the trigger forms a locking means to hold the top cap in its closed position until the closure is angularly displaced relatively to the container into a predetermined position in which the trigger is unlocked and can be actuated manually to release the top cap for opening.

Abstract: A closure assembly for a container has a dispensing opening which is selectably closed by a cover. To indicate that the container has been tampered with, the cover has a portion connected thereto by a weak zone which is severed as a result of moving the cover to an open position.

Abstract: This relates to the provision of latch mechanisms for a dispensing closure of the type having a well formed in the top wall thereof with the well being of a stepped bottom construction and there being a closure member which includes a hinge strap and a cover panel with the cover panel having an outline generally corresponding to that of the well and being divided by a transverse hinge line into a cover element and an opener. when the opener is depressed, the cover element automatically swings to an upstanding position uncovering a dispensing opening or openings. Latch mechanisms are provided to retain the opener within the well and to retain the cover element in an upstanding out-of-the-way dispensing position. This abstract is not to be construed as limiting the claims of the application.

Abstract: A tamper indicating closure cap of the type having a pivotable stopper closing a cap top orifice. The stopper has an integral flange overlying portions of the top and extending behind the pivotable member to preclude pivoting of the pivotable member. The flange is removable from the pivotable member and indicia formed in the container top underlying the flange is made visible by removal of the flange.

Abstract: A plastic dispenser cap has a closure, integrally attached thereto by a continuous hinge, for blocking holes formed in the cap. When shut, the lower surface of the closure is flush with the upper surface of the cap, resulting in an article of minimal height. When assembled to standard bottles, a stackable assembly results.

Abstract: A synthetic material closure, which is superimposable on firm or deformable containers or is an integral component of a container, presents a lower part and a cap or cover. The cap is integrally joined over at least one tensioning band with the lower part. The tensioning bands run in a plane which cuts the synthetic material closure, i.e. cap and lower part in the closed stage of the closure. The closure can be realized with or without hinge. The arrangement of the tensioning bands in the above-described manner brings about a closing force. These can be mounted on a large number of different container, or be a component of a can.

Abstract: A one-piece molded thermoplastic child-resistent dispensing closure in which the dispensing opening in the closure is sealed by the downwardly extending projection of a locking flap that is foldably attached to an edge of the closure, in which the top of the closure comprises a recess to receive the sealing flap when it is in its closing position and in which the portion of the recess which is adjacent the free end of the locking flap is deeper than the thickness of the locking flap so that the free end of the locking flap can be depressed within the recess to facilitate the opening of the closure. Certain embodiments are described in which the locking flap is provided with a downwardly depending tab which is received in a recess in the skirt of the closure when the locking flap is in the closed position and which is deflected outwardly from the recess by the depression of the locking flap into the recess in the top of the closure to further facilitate the opening of the closure.

Abstract: This relates to a tamper indicating feature for a lever actuated closure. In particular, the lever is provided with a hinge wherein, when the lever is actuated, a free end portion of the lever hinges from its normal planar state with respect to the rest of the lever and, due to the provision of stretchable ribs or webs, the tilted lever free end portion cannot be returned to its initial position planar with the remainder of the lever, and thus sticks up like a sore thumb and indicates tampering.

Abstract: A biasing hinge is disclosed which is made up of a first hinge member and a second hinge member integrally hinged together along a curved line. The hinge members are shaped so that when one hinge member is swung relative to the other, the members are resiliently deformed or stressed and energy is stored in said hinge members. This stored energy will bias the hinge members to swing to an open or a closed position depending on which position is nearest said hinge member at a particular time. The hinge can be molded with the hinge members having the desired shape to provide the necessary stresses to provide the desired biasing. The hinge can also be molded as an integral part of a cap or closure.

Abstract: A tamper indicating dispensing closure for containers in which a cylindrical cap has a passage for dispensing the contents of the container and the passage is closed by a member requiring movement relative to the remainder of the cap. The entire top of the cap is covered by a tamper indicating element which is permanently attached to the remainder of the cap so that the element must be removed in order to perform the opening operations of the closure and such removal results either in the destruction of the element or in the means fixing it to the cap to visually indicate that the closure has been opened or placed in a condition for opening.

Abstract: This relates to closure assemblies for containers which are subject to tampering. This particularly relates to closure assemblies of the type which include a lever type actuator wherein the lever must be lifted to apply leverage to a closure plug portion to facilitate opening of the closure assembly. Such levers are customarily retained in place by rivets which include frangible portions. This particularly relates to the configuration of such rivets and the details of the lever wherein, once the lever has been pried from its original position and disengaged from the rivet, the lever or an end portion only thereof tilts upwardly due to the non-returnability of the rivet through its original opening thereby to present a visual indication of tampering which can be readily ascertained.

Abstract: A container having a threaded neck is provided with a removal resistant cap which can be applied to the container neck by rotational thrust. The cap has a depending skirt having an internally threaded lower section with the threads terminating in a bead intermediate the ends of the skirt. The neck has an upper threaded section with the threads terminating in a bead spaced below the top of the neck. When the threads of the cap are engaged with the threads of the neck and the cap is rotated relative to the neck, the skirt will circumferentially expand so that the skirt bead passes over the neck bead. At that point, the threads will no longer engage and the interlocked beads will inhibit removal of the cap. Means are provided to enhance removability of the cap from the neck by tearing away a portion of the skirt.

Abstract: A child resistant cap comprises a generally circular cap member having an inwardly projecting lip on the underside. When the cap is closed the lip engages a retention element formed in a second lip which surrounds the outlet of a tubular body portion. The body portion is molded into the top of a container. The cap and body portions are preferably connected by a strap and there may be a locking tab to secure the cap firmly in the seated position. The lip on the tubular body portion has a first, cam surface sloping from one side of the lip toward the other to assist in spreading the cap lip when seating the cap on the body portion. A second, undercut surface, contiguous with the first cam surface, forms a retention element which holds the cap in place.

Abstract: A combined childproof and tamperproof bottle closure is disclosed including a cap hinged to the container having a flap with improved childproof locking means adapted to engage cooperating locking means on the container. A tamperproof indicia is associated with the flap locking means, and is formed to break with the initial disengagement of the flap locking means from the container locking means to provide a warning of tampering with the container.

Abstract: A closure cap defining a dispenser port. A stopper tab is pivotally mounted to the closure cap for selectively closing the port. The closure cap includes an end wall having a concave portion defining a camming surface. A resilient finger is provided on the stopper tab and includes a tip portion slidably engaging the camming surface. The finger tip is deflected by its engagement with the camming surface when the stopper tab is arranged in the port-closing disposition so as to bias the stopper tab toward the axis of the pivot portion. The finger tip coacts with the camming surface further to bias the stopper tab pivotally toward an open position wherein the stopper portion is spaced from the port as a result of the stopper tab being moved from the port-closing disposition. The camming surface further coacts with the stopper tab to releasably retain the stopper tab in the fully open pivotal position.

Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure for a container in which the closure is permanently attached to a container and is provided with a cap having a dispensing opening communicating with the container which is closed by a hinged lid. Opening movement of the lid is prevented by the shape of the lid so that a separate handle formed as a unit with the lid must be deformed to a position where it can be more easily gripped for hinged movement of the lid. Once deformed, return movement of the handle to a position correcting the deformation is precluded thereby leaving the handle in a deformed position indicating that the closure has been put in a condition for opening movement.

Abstract: A closure for a container having a neck with a bore which is provided with an annular locking shoulder having at diametrically opposite sides of the bore different shaped entry contours for guiding an annular locking shoulder on a plug, one of these shapes permitting easy entry of one side of the plug into the bore to tilt the plug and catch a portion of the plug shoulder at that one side beneath the neck shoulder to thus provide a fulcrum for the plug whereby upon applying force by pressing against the top of the plug at a point diametrically opposite to the fulcrum, the span of the plug between the fulcrum and the point functions as a lever which easily tilts the plug to upright position and forces the shoulders to slightly deform and the plug shoulder to snap under the neck shoulder.

Abstract: A toner supply cartridge for use with an electrographic reproduction machine, having a generally symmetric configuration with a centrally located filling opening. The cartridge contains a second larger opening for dispensing the toner into the copy machine, this opening being sealed prior to use with a permanently attached door. The door is openable after inserting the cartridge into the reproduction machine by pulling an external tab structure which is connected to a section of adhesive tape securing the door in its closed position. This structure minimizes the amount of toner unintentionally escaping from the toner cartridge prior and during its insertion into the reproduction machine.

Abstract: A closing arrangement for a packing container is disclosed including a tubular member that may be firmly anchored within a pouring opening of the container. A cap member closes the tubular member and is provided with a pull-ring. The cap member is joined to the tubular member by a first connecting member which may be broken to open the container. The cap member is also joined to the tubular member by a second connecting member which forms a hinge located diametrically opposite to the pull ring. The second connecting member retains the cap member on the tubular member after the container is opened. The pull ring includes a locking element which cooperates with the tubular member to provide a catch. Upon movement of the pull-ring to open the container, the catch is caused to disengage from the tubular member. In this way, the first connecting element is broken but the catch permits a reclosure of the container. The closing arrangement is preferably made of a plastic material especially polyolefin.

Abstract: An improved safety closure for containers of harmful products includes an inverted cup-shaped body member formed of resilient plastic material and an integrally molded locking flap connected by an integral hinge to the top periphery of the body member. The locking flap folds into a conforming recess in the top surface of the body portion and, in its folded position, all edges of the locking flap are flush with the adjacent top surface of the body portion. Dispensing openings are provided in the top wall of the body portion and sealing means are provided on the bottom wall of the flap to close the dispensing openings in the folded position of the locking flap. A portion of the annular wall of the body portion is recessed so as to permit manual inward depression of a segment of the outer wall of the body portion.
