  • Patent number: 9587823
Abstract: A laminar flow jet for a surface mix gas burner that provides increased stability, adjustability, and control over flame chemistries and characteristics. The present invention utilizes a novel shape, typically created by a tube having a cross-sectional shape and inserting it into a faceplate cutout, or conduit, having another cross-sectional shape. This nesting of one shape inside another promotes laminar gas flow and produces desired effects. Tubes may also be placed under the faceplate provided they maintain fluid communication with the conduits. Further, a burner is constructed with adjacent gas delivery tubes of different cross-sectional shapes which are mechanically held in place radially. The tubes touch in a longitudinal direction at points along their respective inner and outer dimensions, achieving axial alignment and preserving the necessary laminar gas flow.

Abstract: A dual fuel system includes a dual fuel injector that has disposed therein a gaseous nozzle chamber fluidly connected to a gaseous fuel inlet, and a liquid nozzle chamber fluidly connected to the liquid fuel inlet. The dual fuel injector also includes a hydraulic lock seal with an annular volume of liquid fuel surrounding a guide segment of a gas needle valve member for inhibiting migration of gaseous fuel into the liquid fuel. A liquid fuel common rail is fluidly connected to a liquid fuel inlet. A check valve is fluidly positioned between the gaseous fuel common rail and the gaseous nozzle chamber of the dual fuel injector for blocking liquid fuel leaked into a gaseous nozzle chamber through the hydraulic lock seal from entering the gaseous fuel common rail.

  • Publication number: 20130081593
Abstract: Fuel injectors are disclosed that are capable of simultaneously delivering liquid and gaseous fuels to the combustion chamber of a compression ignition engine. For example, fuel injectors are disclosed that can deliver liquid diesel fuel, as a pilot liquid, along with a gaseous fuel, such as natural gas or other available fuels that are gases at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature. The fuels are delivered to the needle control valve cavity sequentially via separate passageways. The delivery of the pressurized liquid fuel is actuated by the single actuator that is provided for each fuel injector. The actuator may be of a solenoid type or of a piezoelectric type or other suitable actuator as will be apparent to those skilled in the art. A liquid fuel check valve, in combination with the actuator, controls the delivery of the pilot liquid fuel to the needle control valve cavity.

  • Patent number: 8387898
Abstract: A paint sprayer includes a motor-driven multi-stage turbine for compressing air, which subsequently flows through a venturi in a paint gun to draw in paint or some other liquid from a canister. To prevent the high-pressure air from expelling lubricant from the motor's inboard bearing, a pressure responsive annular seal axially deflects and sealingly engages an axial face of the bearing. To avoid subjecting the seal and bearing to excess air pressure and temperature created by the turbine, a bypass bleed line diverts some air to atmosphere when the paint gun is closed.
