Patent number: 6371399Abstract: A machine that has an assembly formed from a frame on which is rotatably mounted on a drum with parallel winding cores. This assembly is mounted so as to move translationally in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the axes of the drum and of the cores, while the sheet product feeding mechanism is fixed. The translational displacement of the movable assembly allows its gradual advance as the diameter of a reel being formed grows and also makes it possible to leave, between this assembly and the sheet product feeding mechanism, a gap available for an operator, for the purpose of introducing the leading edge of the sheet product onto one of the cores.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2000Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: Darlet Marchante Technologie, S.A.Inventor: Innocent Marchante

Publication number: 20020017586Abstract: A paper web (W) is longitudinally divided into slit webs of desired widths and the slit webs are wound into rolls (R) about roll cores (H) at a winding station (17A, 17B). The web is cut by a web-severing device (16) in conjunction with the roll set change of the winding operation. At least two slitter assemblies (15A, 15B) are employed for slitting the web (W) and, when given ones of the slitter assemblies (15A, 15B) are slitting the web (W) into one set of slit webs, the desired ones of the other slitter assemblies (15A, 15B) are preset into desired slitting width positions for slitting the next set of slit webs. The winding apparatus has slitter assemblies (15) for longitudinally dividing a web (W) into slit webs and a winding station (17A; 17B) for winding the slit webs into rolls (R) and a web-severing device for cutting the web.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2001Publication date: February 14, 2002Inventor: Pauli Koutonen

Patent number: 6269859Abstract: A sheet roll forming system for forming sheet rolls by winding a heat transfer recording sheet around an outer periphery of a plurality of cores including a core supplying apparatus and a sheet roll discharge apparatus. The core supplying apparatus includes a cantilever shaft supporting the cores, a tray below the shaft and movable up and down in a direction of the shaft, and core stoppers on the tray where the shaft is an air shaft that can increase in diameter when air is supplied from a charge and exhaust apparatus. The sheet roll discharge apparatus includes the shaft supporting rolls of the recording sheet on the cores, a tray below the shaft, and a stopper on the tray.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1998Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshikimi Semba

Patent number: 6010091Abstract: A method and device for winding a paper web in which the paper web is unwound from a paper reel, the end of the paper web is taken as a substantially full width from the reel and attached to a threading member which extends substantially over the entire length in the cross direction of the web. The threading member carries the end of the paper web through the winding machine so that the web is carried with a substantially uniform tension. The threading member is carried by draw fabrics placed in the cross direction in the area of the web.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1997Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Valmet CorporationInventors: Arto Leskinen, Jari Sinkko, Pauli Koutonen

Patent number: 5904312Abstract: A reel slitter includes a slitting station for slitting a material web into partial webs and a winding station to wind the partial webs into partial web rolls. A transporter conveys at least one partial web from the slitting station. The transporter is disposed between the slitting station and the winding station. In order to provide for the winding of the partial webs across the entire width of the partial webs, the transporter has a width which is narrower than the material web. The transporter is also movable transversely to the running direction of the partial webs.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1998Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: Voith Sulzer Finishing GmbHInventors: Joachim Hinz, Herbert Muller

Patent number: 5617134Abstract: A roll-to-roll paper web feeding system for a laser printer. The paper web is unwound from a roll supported in the unwind machine by a single conveyor belt driven at a speed that varies to match the web feed to the speed of the printer. A pivotably mounted beam houses the belt and can be raised to permit replacement of the roll. A shock absorber acts between the beam and the machine frame to maintain contact between the belt and the paper roll. Replacement of the belt is facilitated by a unique latch acting on the support shaft for a sprocket at the free end of the beam provided for the belt. The paper web is rewound on a roll provided in the rewind machine. Tension must be kept high enough in the paper web to assure a tightly wrapped roll in the rewind machine. This fact requires a friction, or drag roller, to maintain at least one free loop of web, and this drag roller can be replaced quickly as a result of shifting it laterally to decouple the coupling provided at one end of the drag or friction roller.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1995Date of Patent: April 1, 1997Assignee: Energy Saving Products and Sales CorporationInventor: Richard P.
