Abstract: The present invention provides an oxidative decontamination reagent for removal of the dense radioactive oxide layer on a metal surface, which comprises an oxidizing agent, a metal ion, and an inorganic acid. The oxidative decontamination reagent of the present invention is characteristically prepared by adding a metal ion to the conventional oxidative decontamination reagent containing an oxidizing agent and an inorganic acid. When the oxidative decontamination reagent of the present invention is used, electric potential of the metal parts of the primary system of the nuclear power plant can be regulated as passive potential owing to the added metal ion during the oxidative decontamination of the primary metal part of the nuclear power plant. Therefore, by maintaining electric potential of the metal part as passive potential, local corrosion can be inhibited and at the same time secondary waste can be significantly reduced.

Abstract: Gel comprising reactive oxidant release agent The invention provides a gel composition comprising 5% to 75% w/w of an inorganic gelling agent other than silica based gelling agents, 0.5-60% w/w, preferably 0.5 to 30% w/w, of an inorganic oxidant release agent and at least 20% w/w of water, and possibly a stabilizer. It further provides a process for making same, comprising preparing a first solution of a dibasic phosphate salt in water comprising dissolved oxidant release agent, preparing a second and solution of a alkaline earth metal salt in water comprising dissolved oxidant release agent, and mixing both, first and second solutions, in a ratio of 1 to 1 to 10 to 1, followed by a concentration step. The gel composition of the invention is suitable for soil, sediment groundwater or water remediation purposes and disinfection or wound healing purposes.

Abstract: Zinc and lead are usually concomitantly present in Zn—Pb ores and tailings. A novel non-polluting hydrometallurgical process for selectively leaching and recovering zinc (Zn) from a composite lead (Pb) and zinc sulphide containing mineral, crushed untreated rock or unconsolidated mineral particles, mill tailings and/or agglomerated or unagglomerated sulphidic zinc containing waste material without necessitating smelting and refining operation has been developed. A combination of selected oxidant and alkali metal hydroxide has been found effective. A leachant consisting of e.g. a mixture of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is employed to selectively dissolve zinc sulphide at high pH at standard temperature and pressure (STP). The kinetics of leaching along with the effect of varying concentration (preferably of sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite) were systematically investigated. Feed ore containing diverse set of minerals e.g.

Abstract: Presented herein are compositions including a linear tenso-active surfactant which, upon contact and mechanical stirring of a hydrocarbon body, induces emulsification, resulting in oxidation of fatty acid aliphatic bodies. The compositions solve the problem of hydrocarbon pollution. The hydrocarbon decomposer and its by-products dissolve hydrocarbons present in polluted bodies such as clays, soils, water and sand. Methods of the invention create a residue that is a fertilizer, at room temperature and with no need for high pressure.

A hyperhalogen is a superhalogen-containing composition in which the electron affinity (EA) of the hyperhalogen is even larger than that of the superhalogens they are composed of. Novel production methods are provided in which highly electronegative species are produced by surrounding a central metal atom by superhalogen moieties.

Abstract: There is provided an oxidant and dopant which can produce a conductive polymer. The conductive polymer can be used in a solid electrolyte capacitor as solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte capacitor can be provided with improved breakdown voltage and voltage resistance, as well as less generation of the defects due to leak current. There is provided an oxidant and dopant solution for conductive polymer production including an oxidant and dopant for an organic ferric sulfonate, and an alcohol with a carbon number of 1 to 4. The oxidant and dopant solution further includes a compound with a glycidyl group, or its ring-opened compound. Faborably, a polyalcohol is further added. Using the oxidant and dopant solution, a thiophene or its derivative is subject to an oxidation polymerization to prepare a conductive polymer, which can be used as solid electrolyte of a solid electrolyte capacitor.
