High-voltage polymeric insulator with sheath of elastic and rigid segments and method of making same
Patent number: 4373113Abstract: An insulator comprising a rod made of continuous glass fiber impregnated with epoxy resin, metal end fittings, and a polymeric sheath. The rod is tightly embedded in the sheath and the ends of the rod are pressed into the fittings. The sheath consists of alternately mounted segments of two types: spacing sleeves made of elastic material and externally profiled sleeves made of stiff material. The spacing sleeve has beads at the ends. In order to transfer axial forces, the spacing sleeves are partly covered by the profiled sleeves, said covered portion including the beaded ends. The method by which this insulator is made consists in that, first, the spacing sleeves, made of silicone rubber, are cast directly onto the rod by the pressure-injection method; second, the rod is covered by a layer of adhesive agent from the silicone group and, third, in the interspaces formed between the spacing sleeves, the profiled sleeves are cast in a split mold by means of the injection method.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1980Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignee: Instytut Elektrotechniki Oddzial Technologii i Materialoznawstwa ElektrotechnicznegoInventors: Jerzy Winkler, Jerzy Stankiewicz -

Patent number: 4141952Abstract: A plurality of mold pairs together forming an array having an outer surface and each having a mold cavity and an inlet between a respective cavity and the surface is continuously rotated past the end of a generally stationary nozzle so as sequentially to align the inlets with the nozzle end. When the end is not aligned with the inlet the material escapes laterally from between the end and the surface and forms on the surface a generally continuous film unitary with the sprues. The mold pairs are sequentially opened and closed on successive spaced-apart locations of a wire before and after the molding thereon of the bodies.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1977Date of Patent: February 27, 1979Assignee: Felten & Guilleaume Carlswerk AGInventor: Dieter Braun

Patent number: 4051209Abstract: Composite panelling of upper and lower metal skins with side configurations for interlocking and a rigid foam core are continuously made by feeding separate upper and lower skin panels secured together by preassembled rigid foam end dams continuously past a foam station having a small height mixing head mounted on cross slides to lay down a zigzag pattern of foam between the skins, with the first and last transverse run of foam being parallel to the ends of the skins. A mixing head is such that valves are located within the head so that the two foamable chemicals do not contact each other until they are fed into the mixing chamber wherein a mechanical mixer mixes them immediately prior to being deposited, which mechanical mixer and valves are of minimum height and fully insertable within the molding space between the skins. A drive motor for the mixer is located in the main body supporting the mixing head, which main body does not enter into the mold cavity.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1975Date of Patent: September 27, 1977Assignee: Kornylak CorporationInventor: Charles P. Patent number: 4051216Abstract: A method of moulding concrete ties or other similar articles having pre-stressed reinforcing wires or rods therein, wherein a series of open ended multi-cavity moulds of similar cross-sectional shape are aligned end to end in groups, wires are positioned in the aligned cavities of the moulds and are tensioned, the wires are separated from one another and into horizontal rows in each group by flat sided bar like spacers which are interposed between the ends of adjacent moulds of that group, while the groups themselves are separated by vertically movable spacer plates each having vertically extended slots which arrange the wires into vertical rows.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1974Date of Patent: September 27, 1977Assignee: Concrete Industries (Monier) LimitedInventor: Robert Lyndon Bratchell

Patent number: 4049756Abstract: Method for making a microfiche structure consisting of a laminate of an opaque, apertured web sandwiched between two transparent sheets. The transparent material partially extends into each aperture to thereby define, for each aperture, an optical doublet. The laminate may be continuously formed by compression, as by rolls.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1975Date of Patent: September 20, 1977Assignee: Izon CorporationInventor: George J. Yevick

Patent number: 4044091Abstract: A generally T-shaped flexible spacer for use in the formation of a flexible joint in concrete cladding for pipes, having a base flange and a compressible web extending generally perpendicularly from the base flange on one side thereof. In use, spacers are applied to a pipe at intervals, and are self supporting with the web radial of the pipe. When concrete is sprayed onto the pipe it forms a cladding in sections, between which the spacers provide compressible joints to accommodate bending of the pipe.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1976Date of Patent: August 23, 1977Assignee: W. Patent number: 4029453Abstract: A method and apparatus for tensioning dental floss is disclosed for use in the molding of a tooth cleaning dental instrument including a bow-shaped member having a first end and a second end with dental floss tensioned between the ends. A suitable plastic-like material injection mold having cavities for the molding of the dental instrument and having line cavities for receiving the dental floss is used in conjunction with the apparatus of the present invention. Dental floss is supplied from suitable sources and directed by guide members to tensioning members including primary and secondary tensioning members. The secondary tensioning members provide supplemental tensioning of the dental floss during the cool down period after the injection of the plastic-like material into the mold. The dental floss is tensioned by primary tensioning members during the injection of the plastic-like material into the mold.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1974Date of Patent: June 14, 1977Assignee: Philmon & Hart Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: James M. Patent number: 4016235Abstract: A method of making simulated stained glass from moldable plastic material. One wall of a die is formed with a series of interconnected recesses which border isolated areas, and the isolated areas of the die are provided with random surface indentations. A sheet of plastic film having a series of dark colored interconnected strips, corresponding in configuration to the recesses in the die, and having a series of light colored zones of the same configuration as the isolated areas of the die, is disposed on the die surface with the dark colored strips in precise registry with the recesses of the die and the light colored zones in registry with the isolated areas of the die. The plastic film is held against the die surface by a vacuum, and a liquid thermoplastic resin is injected into the die cavity.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1974Date of Patent: April 5, 1977Assignee: KCS Industries, Inc.Inventor: William P.
