Abstract: In a method of making an ornament, a metal ornament body having an internal groove opening at one end to an end edge of the metal ornament body and at an opposite end to front and rear surfaces of the metal ornament body is held between two relatively movable mold members while the one end of the internal groove is connected to a gate of the mold members and the opposite end of the internal groove communicates with mold cavities in the mold members. Then, a melted synthetic resin material is injected into the mold cavities through the gate and the internal groove. The gate mark is not formed on the outside surface of an ornamental member molded of synthetic resin but left on the end edge of the metal ornament body. The gate mark thus formed is normally hidden from view and does not deteriorate the aesthetical appearance of the ornament.

Abstract: A delay stopper for use in a mine roof anchor is provided. A mine roof anchor has a threaded roof bolt and a threaded receiving member for the roof bolt whereby the roof bolt and the receiving member initially rotate as a unit to mix resin components that are placed in the bore hole in a destructible capsule above the roof anchor. When the roof anchor is placed in the bore hole, the destructible capsule is ruptured, and the components within the capsule are mixed to form resin which at least partially secures the mine roof anchor within the bore hole. The delay stopper causes the roof bolt and the threaded receiving member to rotate as a unit to mix the resin after the capsule ruptures. The delay stopper has a cylindrical body portion interfitting into the threads of the threaded receiving member and a conical end portion formed on the cylindrical body portion and extending axially from the body portion in a direction toward the end of the roof bolt. The delay stopper is preferably formed of an epoxy resin.

Abstract: A method of attaching a gripping device to a packaging laminate involves forming a recess in a packaging laminate that extends only a part of the way through the thickness of the packaging laminate. Molten plastic material is injected into the recess to cause the molten plastic material to become partly united with plastic layers that cover the central carrier layer of the laminate, thereby forming an anchorage device in the laminate. The gripping device can be attached to the anchorage device after the injection molding process or simultaneously during the injection molding process.

Abstract: A process for producing a breast prosthesis with a concave recess facing the human body. A synthetic resin composition curable to a gelatinous state is enclosed between two thermoplastic films and is shaped in a heated mold defined by a male die and female die. A first film which will face away from the human body is stretched over the female die and heated to permanently conform it to the contour of the die by deep drawing. The deep-drawn film is removed from the female die and an insert having a volume and a free area which correspond to the volume and free area of the concave recess facing the body is then positioned in the female die. The deep-drawn film is placed over the insert in the die and the die is filled with the synthetic resin composition up to its edge. The synthetic resin composition is covered with a second film (cover film) which is welded to the first film over these entire overlapping edges.

Abstract: Coated plastic products are prepared by chemically bonding a protective coating material to at least a portion of the surface of a plastic substrate, by disposing a web of a protective coating material over the cavity of a mold, and thereafter injecting polymeric precursor materials into the mold behind the web thereby conforming the web to the surface of the mold cavity. As the polymeric precursor materials react in situ to form the plastic substrate, they also chemically bond to the protective coating material.

Abstract: A non-flexible, non-resilient recurable cellular material, prepared by exposing cured polyimide foam to an atmosphere of steam at an elevated pressure, is introduced into a honeycomb or like structure so that the cells are at least partially filled with the recurable cellular material. The cellular material is then cured while contained within such cells to form a composite polyimide foam-containing structure. Laminates may be applied to either or both faces of the polyimide foam-containing cellular structure. These articles possess enhanced strength, yet are lightweight and flame resistant, and thus useful for structural, vibration damping and thermal insulation applications.
