Abstract: An automotive component (10) and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The component (10) comprises a core portion (14) formed of a first material and a second portion (18) integral with the core portion (14) and formed of a second material. In one illustrated embodiment, the first and second materials have different material property characteristics. For example, the first material can be made of a relatively harder plastic material than the second material made of a softtouch plastic material. The method for manufacturing the component comprises the steps of injecting the first material into a first cavity of a mold to form the core portion (14), altering the mold cavity to form a second cavity and injecting the second material into the second cavity while the first material is in a reactive state to form the second portion (18) of the component. Because the first material is in the reactive state, the second material is integrally formed with the first material.

The invention provides an aerofoil having such a protection strip, characterised in that the protection strip includes one or more weakening features to reduce the ability of the protection member to withstand a compressive force applied along its length. The weakening features encourage the protection member to break up under impact, or if it becomes detached from the aerofoil, so that damage to other parts of the engine is minimised.

Abstract: The present invention is an improved single cavity molding device and method for compression molding polyurethane, polyurea or polyurethane/polyurea hybrid covers over golf ball sub-assemblies. The device utilizes top and bottom mold-halves and is particularly novel in that it does not require the use of bolts to secure the mold-halves. The molding device utilizes a pair mold halves, each having a backing plate and mold frame for housing a hemispherical cavity mold. The invention utilizes a plurality of clamping pins, each pin having its top portion reciprocally disposed in a recess of the backing plate of the top mold.

  • Patent number: 7398797
Abstract: There is provided a pipe lining method wherein a lateral pipe lining material and a main pipe lining material are securely joined. After a lateral pipe has been lined, a start liner is applied to the main pipe and a main pipe lining material is then inserted. A heating wire for melting the start liner is mounted on a surface of a flange of the lateral pipe lining material during or after lining of the lateral pipe. While the main pipe is being lined, the heating wire is heated to melt the start liner existing between the flange of the lateral pipe lining material and the main pipe lining material. When the resin in the main pipe lining material is cured, the main pipe lining material and flange of the lateral pipe lining material are integrated. This allows the lateral pipe lining material and main pipe lining material to be reliably joined.

Abstract: A multiple walled enclosure with low permeation properties and rugged impact resistance useful as a fuel tank or chemical container. The enclosure is made by rotomolding a first charge of thermosetting polymer into an outer layer, then rotomolding a charge of EVOH or other low permeation thermoplastic into a second layer, then rotomolding a second charge of thermosetting polymer into a third layer so that the low permeation thermoplastic layer is fully enclosed by layers of thermoset polymer. The preferred thermosetting polymer is crosslinkable polyethylene and the preferred low permeation thermoplastic is EVOH.

  • Patent number: 7311121
Abstract: A lateral pipe lining material comprises a tubular resin absorbing material impregnated with a setting resin, which has a flange at one end thereof and whose outer surface is coated with a highly airtight film. A sealing tube is detachably attached to the outer circumferential surface of the tubular resin absorbing material. The lateral pipe lining material is introduced inside a main pipe and its flange is brought into tight contact with the lateral pipe opening. The lateral pipe lining material including the sealing tube is then everted and inserted by fluid pressure inside a lateral pipe toward the ground level. After the setting resin is cured, the sealing tube is removed from the lateral pipe lining material. This enables the lining of a lateral pipe to always be performed reliably, regardless of the aboveground circumstances.
