  • Patent number: 6471211
Abstract: An improved unitized bearing seal assembly employs a resilient primary seal lip, a secondary seal lip and an excluder lip carried by a first seal case. The seal lips contact surfaces of a second seal case. One of the seal cases rotates relative to the other. The bearing seal assembly also includes a labyrinth seal positioned radially inboard of the resilient seal lips. The labyrinth seal has two axially-extending gaps. One of the axially extending gaps is defined by a resilient axial lip. The two axial gaps are joined by a radial gap. One of the surfaces defining the radial gap comprises chaplets with recessed surfaces between the chaplets. The chaplets include radially directed surfaces and inclined surfaces joining the radially directed surfaces with the recessed surfaces. These surfaces are shaped to provide hydrodynamic pumping action. A lubricant cavity is located between the labyrinth seal and the primary seal lip.

Abstract: A volumetric pump for administering intravenous fluids to a patient comprises a housing having an elongate cavity therein with an open and a closed end. A resilient sheet of material having a centrally-located aperture covers the open end, and a pump shaft is slidably disposed through the aperture to form a sphincter seal therebetween. • Patent number: 5927723
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a seal configuration for a flat flanged joint with a base part whose even seal reception surfaces are each bounded by an inner and an outer annular tooth and with two adhered seal bearings which, in a mounted condition, are confined between the flange surfaces, annular teeth and the base part. Due to the seal surfaces being even, the seal bearing is capable of flowing free within this chamber, especially when the flange surfaces are tilted with respect to the base part. Further, it is suggested to prepare the annular teeth and the even reception surcaes of the base part by embossing or milling. The following advantages are achieved: uniform surface pressure and thus good leakage performance, high blow-off safety, high component safety, low production costs, low mounting height, low notch stress cracking and low stress corrosion cracking.
