Abstract: A filter assembly for fluid filtration having a push-activated lock and release mechanism. A push filter design activates a floating key lock upon insertion and extraction, where the filter key may be used simultaneously as a lock and as an identifier for particular filter attributes. The filter base may be situated inline, and in fluid communication, with influent and effluent piping, such as within a refrigerator. The filter housing assembly may be attached to, and removed from, the filter base by a push-actuated release. Upon insertion, the filter key shifts the filter lock longitudinally to receive interlocking segments. Upon extraction, the same axial push shifts the filter lock further to align the interlocking fingers within gaps that allow for easy extraction. The specific key lock design allows a user to identify and match certain filter configurations received by the mechanical support, and reject other filter configurations.

The spindle swivel and spindle receiver have a wavy interface between them that ensures at least one preferred azimuthal orientation between them when they are forced together. A twist lock collar is pivotally attached to the spindle receiver, and may be rotated by a user around a central axis, against the action of a torsion spring, from a locked position to an unlocked position. In the locked position, various ramps inside the twist lock collar force respective steel balls radially inward through respective holes in the spindle receiver to engage respective notches in the cylindrical portion of the spindle swivel. In the unlocked position, the ramps decrease the radial inward force on the steel balls, disengaging them from the notches, and the spindle swivel may be separated from the spindle receiver by the user. • Patent number: 8296916
Abstract: A method for enabling removal and replacement of a failed actuator module of a brake assembly that includes multiple actuators (27) for compressing a brake disk stack (12), wherein the failed actuator has failed in an extended position applying compressive force to the brake disk stack and at least one of the other actuators remains operative. The method comprises the steps of causing one or more of the operative actuators to apply to the brake disk stack a compressive force greater than the compressive force exerted by the failed actuator whereby the reactionary force acting on the failed actuator will be reduced, and removing the failed actuator after the reactionary load on the failed actuator has been reduced.
