Abstract: The invention is a system and associated connection fitting for connecting a refrigerated line or air conditioning hose to the compressor unit or component on one end and the evaporator unit or component on the other end of a residential or commercial air conditioning or refrigeration system. The hose will be of a construction, which as well as having a relatively high bursting strength, will also not allow the refrigerant to permeate through the hose and escape into the outside environment. The associated connecting fitting allows the hose to be connected to the compressor/evaporator unit. The mounting surface of the fitting will allow it to either slide over or fit into the corresponding fitting on the compressor and/or evaporator unit. The opposite end, which shall connect to the hose assembly, will have flanges and “O” rings which when clamped will provide a secure connection as well as prevent loss of refrigeration.

  • Patent number: 5772261
Abstract: A method for securing the connection of a medical tube to a port of a fluid transfer instrument. The method provides connections with superior resistance to unexpected disconnection, and thus is particularly beneficial for joining elastic tubes which are implanted within the body for conducting body fluid from one internal location to another or between the body and an external location. The novel method includes inserting a rigid nipple on the port into the lumen of an elastically deformable tube to be joined to the port, placing an initially loose fitting, nonelastically deformable sleeve around the tube on the nipple, and deforming the sleeve radially toward the nipple to clamp the tube between the sleeve and nipple. The extent of deformation is controlled to prevent damaging the tube.A tool for clamping the sleeve to a controlled extent of deformation is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5763809
Abstract: A notching device for fastening a projectile to a cartridge case. The cartridge case may include a shell mouth and a longitudinal axis and the projectile may include an adapter base for insertion into the shell mouth. The adapter base may include at least one circumferential notch inserted into the shell mouth. The notching device may include an elastic ring for exerting a radial compression force on the shell mouth adjacent the at least one circumferential notch to press a portion of the shell mouth into the at least one circumferential notch, and a device for laterally compressing the elastic ring. The lateral compressing device actuating the elastic ring to exert the radial compression force on the shell mouth. The radial compression force may be substantially equal around a circumference of the cartridge case to provide a fluid tight seal.

  • Patent number: 5735554
Abstract: A tube conduit connection and method of producing the same, whereby an end of a pipe made of polyolefin is cold-deformed, i.e. at the ambient temperature, by means of a spreading mandrel. After the spreading mandrel is removed, the enlarged pipe end and a desired connecting piece or the end of another pipe are plugged onto each other. The polyolefin pipe end is then deformed back to the original shape and forms by self-redeformation a solid and gas-tight connection with the connecting piece or the end of the other pipe.

  • Patent number: 5722150
Abstract: An assembly for attaching a new hose to an existing fitting includes an expandable split ring having an internal diameter less than the diameter of a preformed radially outwardly extending annular wall on the fitting, and a collar that is positionable over the fitting and the expandable split ring. The collar has a radially inwardly extending wall portion and a deformable sleeve portion. The split ring is positionable adjacent the annular wall on the fitting, and the radially inwardly extending wall portion of the collar is positionable in an abutting relationship with the expandable split ring. The deformable sleeve portion of the collar is inwardly deformable to provide retention of the collar, split ring, and hose on the fitting. The present invention solves the problem of the need for new fittings when modifying existing refrigeration systems to accept new refrigerants.
