The wall thickness on the end face is smaller than the nominal wall thickness, and wherein an inner material difference, resulting from the deviation of the inside cross-section from the nominal inside cross-section, and an outer material difference, resulting from the deviation of the outside cross-section from the nominal outside cross-section, deviate from one another by a maximum of 30 percent.

Abstract: A method of attaching a head assembly having an annular hollow boss to an arm having a through hole of a carriage is provided. The head assembly includes a load beam of a head suspension and a base plate fixed to a base part of the load beam. The boss is formed on the base plate. The method includes steps of, inserting the boss into the through hole, thereby setting the head assembly to the arm of the carriage, supplying lubricant along the cylindrical jig to the caulking ball and pushing the caulking ball with the cylindrical jig to pass the caulking ball through an inside of the boss and diametrally expand and plastically deform the boss, thereby fixedly fitting the boss of the head assembly to the through hole of the arm of the carriage. The method causes no deformation of a flange formed on the base plate during caulking and is achievable at low cost.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for sheathing an electrical conductor with an elastic sealing element. In the method, first a through-opening is produced in the sealing element with a first equivalent diameter. Next the through-opening which has been produced with a first equivalent diameter is expanded to a second equivalent diameter, in order to be able to introduce an electrical conductor into it. Then contraction of the through-opening which has been expanded to the second equivalent diameter is brought about, in order thus to obtain sealing off of the electrical conductor from the elastic sealing element.

Abstract: A lateral pipe lining material having a flange on one end thereof is installed on a head collar which is hermetically mounted on a pressure bag that stores the lateral pipe lining material. The head collar comprises a curved section and a cylindrical section projecting from the curved section. An expandable member is mounted to the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical section of the head collar, and expanded so that the outer circumferential surface of the expanding member comes into close contact with the inner circumferential surface near the flange, and the inner circumferential surface thereof comes into close contact with the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical section of the head collar. This allows a hermetical connection between the lateral pipe lining material and the head collar and ensures a reliable eversion and insertion of the lining material into a lateral pipe.

  • Patent number: 8522417
Abstract: Vibration damping is important with regard to such components as hollow turbine blades in gas turbine engines. Traditionally damping has occurred through damping elements secured at the root or tip of such blades. Such damping is not optimised and results in potential problems with wear in operational life. By providing a tube of deformable material which can be located within a hollow cavity it is possible to provide an element which through friction engagement can absorb vibration energy and therefore damp such vibration. The tube incorporates a number of cuts and/or grooves in an appropriate pattern in order to define a deformation profile once the tube is expanded in location. The tube is secured in position internally upon an expandable element which is typically an inflatable device. Once in position the tube is retained in its expanded deformable profile and the engagement between the tube and the hollow cavity wall surface results in energy absorption through vibration episodes.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method which consists in producing by radial expansion of the walls of two tubular parts (1, 2) engaged into each other substantially without play, in at least two zones of the parts spaced from each other in the axial direction of the parts (1, 2) two small protuberances (4) projecting radially outwards of the parts (1, 2) separated from each other, along the circumference of the parts (1, 2), by portions of the intermediate walls (5) of the parts. The small protuberances (4) are simultaneously produced in two zones spaced in the axial direction of the tubular parts (1, 2), using a tool comprising an expander with flexible blades on each of which are arranged two bosses spaced from each other in the expander axial direction. The plurality of segments thereby provides circumferentially extending ridges that are capable of deforming a pipe wall by a first pressing action on the inside wall of the pipe to create on the outside of the pipe circumferential beads in the pipe wall and to cause these beads to extend into corresponding grooves in the coupling element. The segments also have circumferentially extending portions located adjacent and between the ridges.
