Abstract: The invention provides a method for mounting a friction disc on a rotor. The friction disc is reduced in diameter by means of a pair of pliers. The friction disc has an inner ring part and an outer ring part joined together by means of crossarms. The friction disc is inserted with reduced diameter into a depression of the rotor by sliding the inner ring part axially with respect to the outer ring part. The tension on the pair of pliers is relieved to allow the diameter of the friction disc to expand in the depression of the rotor. The friction disc can then be secured in the rotor by means of a central screw.

Abstract: A method is provided for producing a ventilation bore in a thrust bearing of a crankcase of a reciprocating internal combustion engine by milling. The milling cutter is an angled-head milling cutter, which is introduced into the crankcase in the direction of a cylinder longitudinal axis and is moved in the direction of a crankcase longitudinal axis until the thrust bearing is perforated. Subsequently, the angled-head milling cutter is moved back in the direction of the crankcase longitudinal axis and removed from the crankcase by moving the angled-head milling cutter in the direction of the cylinder longitudinal axis. Internal stresses in the crankcase are avoided by the production of the ventilation bore, as a result of which the strength of the crankcase is increased.

  • Patent number: 8353093
Abstract: For turbo-diesel application trucks, it is desirable to enable the quickest exit of the exhaust from the engine because, in most cases, the exhaust gas temperatures of these engines are very high. Thus, a hole is formed in the hood of the trucks and the exhaust stack is slid through the hole to permit the quickest exit of the exhaust into the atmosphere. However although the hood may be non-horizontally oriented, the stack should be kept in a vertical position. Thus, a stack mounting basket is positioned beneath the hole having three widely separated outwardly extending threaded bolt extensions that are positioned within three slotted downwardly extending elongated members affixed to the hood. The relative positions of the elongated members with respect to the threaded bolt extensions are adjusted, and nuts are tightened over the elongated members to permit the stack to maintain a vertical orientation.

Abstract: A method of setting lash in a cam phaser includes rotating a stator having a lobe in a first direction so that the lobe contacts a motion limiter pin disposed within a first hole in a rotor, causing the compression of a spring until a motion limiter lock pin enters a groove on the motion limiter pin and contacts a wall at one end of the groove. The rotor is then rotated in conjunction with the stator in the first direction until a rotor locking pin that is disposed within a second hole in the rotor engages a lock pin seat on a cover at one end of the seat. The rotor is then held in place while rotating the stator in a second direction so that there is a gap between the wall at one end of the groove and the motion limiter locking pin.

After forming the sprayed coating, at least part of the protrusion is removed together with the sprayed coating formed on the inner surface of the protrusion.
