Abstract: A tank for receiving a drink to be dispensed, the tank is rectangular in shape and opens upwardly, a discharge valve is located at the lower, front end of the tank, and a cover fits over the open end of the tank. Detents are formed at the upper end of the walls of the tank. A manually operable locking mechanism secures the cover in fixed position atop the tank. The locking mechanism comprises a vertical shaft or axle that extends through the central part of the cover. A knob is secured to the upper end of the shaft, and a cam is secured to the lower end of the shaft. A plurality of elongated rods pass through diametrically opposed slots in a housing secured to the underside, or interior, of the cover. One end of each rod has a contact surface which is urged against the perimeter of the cam, while the opposite end of the is a locking surface. When the knob is rotated in one direction, the locking surfaces of the rods are forced into the detents to lock the cover in fixed position.

Abstract: A mortise latchset has an improved leveraged cam assembly, completely internal to the latchset body, versatile enough to allow the door handles to be rotated in either direction to retract the latchbolt, and robust enough to independently bias each of two lever-type door handles toward a handle-centering position, even when one of the handles is being operated. The mortise latchset uses a pair of coaxially mounted cam followers independently leveraged by a cantilevered spring assembly. The cam followers are located between the operating cams and the latch retracting assembly, and each leveraged cam follower is operable to engage the latch retracting assembly to retract the latchbolt, while the other cam follower biases its operating cam in the handle-centering position.

  • Patent number: 7874598
Abstract: A latch for a window sash includes a fixed plate and a latch head slidably coupled to the fixed plate. The latch head is symmetrically spring loaded to minimize rotation when the latch head translates. When the latch head retracts toward the fixed plates, hooks from the latch head engage notches on the fixed plate to lock the latch head in a retracted position. This releases the latch head from a strike so the window sash can be opened. The latch further includes a plunger centrally received in the fixed plate and the latch head. When the plunger retracts toward the fixed plate, sloped shoulders from the plunger disengages the hooks of the latch head from the notches on the fixed plate. This releases the latch head to engage the strike so the window sash is locked.

  • Patent number: 7703815
Abstract: A quick cam latch mechanism having an operatively coupled bolt and cam assembly disposed in a latch housing. A handle is coupled to the cam assembly for moving the bolt between an extended or engaged position and a retracted or disengaged position. The cam assembly includes a primary cam operatively coupled to a secondary cam or linkage that is in turn operatively coupled to the bolt. Rotation of the primary cam translates into increased pivoting of the linkage and thereby increased retraction of the bolt. As a result, less rotation of primary cam is needed to retract the bolt. In an example embodiment of the invention, at least two linkages are utilized to quickly retract the bolt regardless of the direction of rotation of the handle.

A locking slide forms a bore to receive a spring and a steel ball to allow the locking slide to be slidable with respect to the lock case to abut against and/or disengage from a locking latch. The handle causes the activation mechanism to rotate, thereby retracting the sliding lock plate form the pawl. A cam follower, activated by a pocket cam, is rotated with handle operation. A first pinion gear on the sliding lock plate and a friction clutch dampen movement. A rotating paddle/blade cam, substituted for the paddle/blade, has a projecting arm. The second pinion gear engages teeth on the edge of the slide lock plate. A dog leg-shaped projection, added to the handle end of the slide plate, accommodates second teeth facing opposite the first teeth.

Abstract: An electronic door lock dogging mechanism is provided with a bolt arranged to move into and out of a door to selectively engage a portion of a door frame to lock a door when extending out of the door and when recessed within the door, unlocking the door from the door frame. A first mechanical element is arranged to normally bias the bolt outwardly relative to the door. A first electrical element is arranged, when energized, to move the bolt into a recessed position in the door to unlock the door. A second mechanical element is arranged to be biased into a dogging position relative to the bolt when the first electrical element has moved the bolt into its recessed position. A third mechanical element is arranged to engage the second mechanical element to move it out of the dogging position when the third mechanical element is moved into a first position. A fourth mechanical element is arranged to bias the third mechanical element into the first position.

  • Patent number: 6926315
Abstract: The present invention relates to a latch bolt mechanism for a hinged door, and in particular, to a latch bolt mechanism actuated by push pull spindles. The latch bolt mechanism includes a bolt with an inclined surface, a housing, at least one push pull spindle with an inclined surface. The bolt is slideably mounted within the housing for movement between an extended position (extended outward from the housing) and a retracted position (positioned within the housing). The spindle slideably extends through an opening in the housing and bolt, transversely aligned with respect to the line of travel of the bolt. As the spindle is pushed towards or pulled away from the housing, the inclined surface of the spindle engages the inclined surface of the bolt to actuate movement of the bolt between the extended and retracted positions.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a door lock. The door lock is configured in such a fashion that an indoor-side spindle of a body assembly rotates a retractor using an indoor-side small spindle thereof, in the same manner as an outdoor-side spindle provided with an outdoor-side small spindle. This simplifies a manufacturing process of the indoor-side spindle and enables the outer diameter of the indoor-side spindle to be accurately processed, resulting in the smooth rotation thereof. In addition, respective plate assemblies of the door lock are formed with an operating chamber inside thereof so that rotation springs are installed therein through spring holders, and spring holder covers are fixedly coupled using fixing pieces, along with attachment plates. This configuration simplifies the whole construction and assembly process of the rotation springs.

One embodiment of the invention is a latch apparatus having a housing with opposed plates that are spaced apart and secured to each other by support arms formed from the plates. A live bolt of the apparatus is slidably mounted in the housing and horizontally actuated between an extended and a retracted position. A live bolt hub is mounted in the housing and actuates the live bolt. A slide, actuated by a rotatable cam, is mounted in the housing and moves vertically between a first position and a second position. In the first position the slide is disengaged from the live bolt, and in the second position the slide locks the live bolt in an extended position.

  • Patent number: 6802544
Abstract: The door handle assembly includes a housing which is mounted in the door of a vehicle. A lever handle is pivotally connected to the front side of the housing by a pin, while a pivot plate is pivotally connected to the back side of the housing. The back side of the housing includes a curved channel in which is mounted a compression spring. The pivot plate lies in covering relation to the channel so as to retain or close the spring in the channel. The pivot plate includes an elongated arm which is linked to the door latch. Upon actuation of the handle, the pivot plate 14 is pivoted by a leg of the handle extending through the housing. The pivotal movement of the pivot plate compresses the spring between one end of the channnel and an arm on the pivot plate. The linkage between the pivot plate and one door latch releases the latch when the pivot plate is rotated by actuation of the handle. Upon release of the handle, the compression spring 36 biases the pivot plate to its normal at-rest position.
