Abstract: The band-pass filter portion of a coaxial cable includes filter elements in the form of a laminate of dielectric material having a conductive layer on opposite faces. Attached to each conductive layer is a mass which is the electrical equivalent of a shunt capacitor. Each such mass is joined to a center conductor. A sleeve of dielectric material surrounds each center conductor except in the area of the filter. A seamless tube of dielectric material surrounds the filter elements and the dielectric sleeves. A monolithic jacket of electrically conductive metal surrounds said seamless tube.
Abstract: Improvements to dispersive delay lines are provided which involve bifurcation to provide for low insertion loss and a non-dispersive/dispersive delay line which allows for non-simultaneous input/output operation, and removes input/output leakage as a limitation to dynamic range.
Abstract: A dispersive delay line and method for fabricating the delay line is described in which coaxial cable is utilized and in which the dispersive or bandpass characteristic is established by the crimping of the coaxial cable in such a manner that the axial crimp length is small compared to the wavelength, thereby providing a discontinuity which behaves like a simple shunt capacity. A simple fabrication technique is utilized in which the crimps are applied to the line at selected points by use of a four-tooth crimping tool.

Abstract: A gas-tight, high-frequency permeable window arrangement in a coaxial line, particularly for traveling wave tubes, has a large pass band width as well as being mechanically and thermally stable. For this purpose, a hollow cylinder of dielectric material is provided between the coaxial line on the input side and the coaxial line on the output side, the hollow cylinder surrounding the inner conductor of the coaxial line on the input side and being connected with its one end face to the outer conductor of the coaxial line on the input side and being connected with its other end face to a flange which is arranged between the inner conductors of the coaxial lines of the input and output sides. A window arrangement constructed in accordance with the present invention is particularly suitable for employment in radio link traveling wave tubes.
Abstract: An apparatus for coupling a source of signals to a receiver having a ground return electrically coupled to the AC line and for providing immunity from interfering ambient signals. The apparatus includes a coaxial transmission line surrounded at both ends by feedthrough capacitor coupling the outer conductor of the transmission line to the ground return of the signal source. A toroidal ferrite member also surrounds the transmission line between the feedthrough capacitors thereby reducing the current flowing in the outer conductor and the resulting direct pickup of ambient signals.
Abstract: The band-pass filter coupling element of a coaxial cable is in the form of a laminent of dielectric material having a conductive layer on opposite faces. Each end face is metallurgically joined to an end face of a center conductor. A sleeve of dielectric material surrounds each center conductor. A seamless tube of dielectric material surrounds the filter elements and the dielectric sleeves. A monolithic jacket of electrically conductive metal surrounds said seamless tube.
Abstract: A high frequency filter for frequencies higher than the VHF band comprising at least one resonator has been found. Each resonator comprises a conductive housing, an inner conductor one end of which is fixed at the bottom of the housing and the other end of which is free standing, a cylindrical dielectric body surrounding said inner conductor, and the diameter of the dielectric body is approximately four times as large as that of said inner conductor.

Abstract: A removable diode package for mounting beam-lead diodes in coaxial, stripline or waveguide microwave circuits is described. The diode package is capable of operation at frequencies above 40 GHz. A low-dielectric polyimide insulating washer is used to reduce parasitic elements normally associated with diode packages at microwave and millimeter frequencies.
Abstract: High frequency transformer built from coaxial conductor sections, wherein a pair of coaxial conductor sections of equal length have external conductors which are insulated from each other. The input end of the external conductor of the first coaxial conductor section is connected with the input end of the internal conductor of the second coaxial conductor section and both of the unconnected input end internal and external conductors form input connections. The output end of the internal conductor of the first coaxial conductor section is connected with the output end of the external conductor of the second coaxial conductor section and both of the unconnected output end internal and external conductors form output connections.
Abstract: A broadband isolator design wherein the amount of insertion loss may be traded for bandwidth and possibly reduced circuit complexity. The isolator may employ two windings or conductors with the neutralizing element connected across the input-output terminals, or may have a third winding placed to bisect the angle between the other windings and the neutralizing element coupled across this third winding. The angle between the windings and the isolator interconnection determine the specific bandwidth and insertion loss.
Abstract: Apparatus for hyperthermia treatment provides transmission of microwave energy for irradiation of tissues and simultaneous and concurrent and continuous measurement of the temperature of the heated tissues at the site of the treatment. The microwave energy is supplied to the site of treated tissue by a coaxial applicator which is positioned near the tissue.
Abstract: Disclosed is a 180.degree. phase shifter having meander-shaped coupled lines in a predominantly planar form, such as, for example, microstrip, microslot or stripline, formed by a .lambda./2 long meander disposed opposite to a .lambda./4 long meander.
Abstract: A flat, high frequency cable having a number of longitudinal conductors, is provided with a transverse conductance between said longitudinal conductors. The transverse conductance is substantially smaller than the conductivity of said longitudinal conductors to provide a defined attenuation along the cable. The transverse conductance is determined by a plurality of discrete components such as resistors and capacitors electrically connected to said longitudinal conductors at spaced intervals. The present cable may comprise two or three conductors.

Abstract: Circuit components such as frequency filters, impedance transformers, and time delay elements are fabricated into an assembly which is electrically and mechanically coupled to the center conductor. A seamless dielectric material is telescoped over the assembly and then the assembly is telescoped into a seamless outer jacket of conductive material. Then the ID of the outer jacket is reduced into contact with the dielectric material surrounding said assembly and center conductor by drawing said jacket through a die.
Abstract: An overhead transmission line composed of a coaxial line element constituted by a central conductor and an insulating sheath concentrically surrounding the central conductor; and a plurality of power current conductors of circular cross section presenting electrically conductive surface portions and disposed around the coaxial element in such a manner that adjacent current conductors contact one another and the insulating sheath, the surface regions of the power conductors which face said sheath together defining a cage-like return conductor enclosing the central conductor.
Abstract: A microwave-type device such as a mixer is disclosed having an improved diode mount with the position of the diode within the waveguide determined solely by the position of a contact rod extending into the waveguide on the side of the waveguide opposite the ground contact of the diode. The contact rod mates with the active contact of the diode by an annular spring fashioned at the waveguide end of the rod. The annular spring also provides a stop against which the diode rests thus determining its position. Electrical connection to the ground contact is made through a second annular spring. A coil spring provides longitudinal force holding the diode in position against the contact rod.

Abstract: An improved, more compact microwave equalizer is provided by utilizing a length of coaxial transmission line to which at least a pair of relatively small diameter, flexible, coaxial cable resonant stubs are coupled through film type impedance means. Each coaxial cable stub is disposed adjacent the outer conductor of the transmission line, for compactness, and the length of each stub is minimized by use of high dielectric constant material therein. By shortening the length of each resonant stub and by shunting a capacitor across each resonant stub, the frequencies of the upper and lower band edges of the equalizer's attenuation curve are spread apart, while simultaneously providing the desired operating frequency band. Slots and/or an annular recess provided in the relatively thick outer conductor of the transmission line receive the stubs and the retaining apparatus for the film type impedance means.
