The grayscale image can be processed to locate a front license plate and identify a position of a headlight region in front of the vehicle utilizing an algorithm. An average digital count with respect to brightness of the headlight region can be compared with average digital count with respect to brightness of several parts of the vehicle and a background region to determine the vehicle headlights ON/OFF status. The headlights can be considered ON if the digital count level of the headlight region is higher than the digital count of the several parts of the vehicle and the background region. Abstract: An electronic control circuit controls a vehicle's lamp to selectively operate as a turning signal, emergency signal, or vehicle running lamp. Notably, the circuit permits the lamp to operate as an emergency signal lamp even when the vehicle is off. The circuit includes a supply circuit, a control circuit, and a disrupt circuit. The supply circuit supplies voltage to the lamp if either or both of a vehicle running signal and a flash signal have a first input value. Meanwhile, the control circuit generates a control signal having a first control value if the vehicle running signal and the flash signal have different values, and a second control value if the signals have the same value. The disrupt circuit then connects the lamp to ground if the control signal has the first control value, but disrupts that connection if the control signal has the second control value.

Abstract: A seatbelt violation alert system having an exterior visual seatbelt violation indicator which includes an illumination device in electrical communication with a plurality of seatbelt sensors mounted to the seats of a vehicle. The seatbelt sensors include detectors that determine if a seatbelt is not being worn by a passenger in the vehicle. Upon determination that a passenger is not wearing the seatbelt, a signal is generated by the detector of the seatbelt sensor corresponding to the seat in which the passenger who did not fasten his seatbelt is seated that illuminates the exterior illumination device of the exterior seatbelt violation indicator. The exterior seatbelt violation indicator may be observable by law enforcement personnel.

Abstract: A vehicle presence notification apparatus generates and radiates a pseudo-idling sound outward from a vehicle by way of a vehicular horn and a parametric speaker when the vehicle is in a temporary stop state. Further, the vehicle presence notification apparatus generates from two horizontally-adjacent piezoelectric vibrators, reverse phase supersonic sounds during the temporary stop state. The supersonic sounds generated from two horizontally-adjacent piezoelectric vibrators have the same phase in diagonally right and left directions, thereby acquiring an extended cover range.

Abstract: Implementation of mobile device communications (MCD) management is provided. A method includes intercepting an input command received on an MCD, the command intercepted in response to detecting a presence of a fixed communications device (FCD), which is embedded in a vehicle within range of the MCD. The method also includes acquiring biometric data from a user of the MCD. The method includes determining an activity status of the vehicle. If the activity status reflects the vehicle is active, the method includes acquiring biometric data for an operator of the vehicle via a biometric scanner of the vehicle and comparing the biometric data from the vehicle with the biometric data for the user of the MCD. If the biometric data from the vehicle matches the biometric data from the MCD, the method includes retrieving an account record for the user and implementing an action specified in the account record. If the activity status reflects the vehicle is inactive, the method includes executing the command.
