Abstract: A tamper-proof secure card comprising biometric data of an individual for identifying or confirming authority of the individual. Prior to issuing the secure card a cardholder's biometric data is stored in a transparent biometric data section of the secure card. Also, a unique card number is created using a cardholder's biometric data and stored in the card. When the secure card is used the cardholder inputs biometric data. This input biometric data is then compared to the biometric data stored in the card. If the input biometric data matches the stored biometric data the identity of the cardholder is confirmed. If the cardholder's identity has been confirmed the unique card number can be accessed. Without confirmation the unique card number cannot be access. The secure card also comprises a transparent input area to separate the cardholder from an identity verification machine.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and system for providing digital security by means of a reconfigurable physical uncloneable function, RPUF. The RPUF comprises a physical system constituted by distributed components arranged to generate a first response when receiving a first challenge at a point of the physical system. The physical reconfiguring of the RPUF comprises redistributing the components such that they generate a second response, which differs from said first response, when again applying the first challenge at the point. The reconfiguration step is further utilized in providing secure storage for digital items. The digital item is data of any kind, including data that needs to be accessed and updated, i.e. which is dynamic in nature. The method is exemplified by implementations such as secure storage of a key, a secure counter and a seed generator.

Abstract: A programmable interface module includes a linear power regulator to control and provide power to interfaced components on an as needed basis. The interface module is implemented in, for example, a sensor pack and multiplexed to a plurality of sensor modules. In a first mode, the linear voltage regulator provides a relatively small amount of power which allows a sensor module to output a signal responsive to detecting an environmental condition (e.g., gamma or x-ray radiation, extreme temperatures, etc.). The interface module can switch the linear voltage regulator to a second mode in which the linear voltage regulator ramps up the amount of power provided to a detecting sensor module. The sensor module can then provide a level indicative of a concentration or intensity of the environmental condition. If the level surpasses a predetermined threshold, the sensor pack can output an alert signal to security server.

In one example, an authorization system may include an interface for receiving a request signal indicative of a party seeking authorization for a predetermined action. A first processor, that is responsive to the request signal, determines if the authorization is to be granted. If so, the first processor may generate an authorization signal that includes information that is securely coded, and which is indicative of the determination. An operating device, physically spaced from the first processor, may receive the authorization signal, and may decode the securely coded information and subsequently initiating the action, if appropriate.

  • Patent number: 8334753
Abstract: To securely handle (trace/locate/identify to receive services) of an owner and items within a secure/private area, the owner is identified (101) through owner identification means, and the items are identified (101) through reusable item identification means securely fixed to the items. A link between the owner and the items is maintained in a database, and this link is activated (103) for instance through automated/semi-automated registration of the owner upon entrance of the secure/private area (104). The owner and items are handled (traced/located/identified to receive services) (105) during a transaction or event in the secure/private area to facilitate controlling the item during the transaction or event. Optionally, the items are secured (106) in the secure/private area by monitoring departure from the secure/private area via an intelligent gate that senses owner and item identification means within a predetermined, restrictive distance from the intelligent gate.

  • Patent number: 8314681
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for using a single key to authenticate a user with respect to multiple user access points and to allow a single access point to authenticate multiple keys having different physical characteristics. The system may comprise an access control system that includes an insertion receptacle for receiving a physical key, and a translation device for observing the physical characteristics of the key and translating those characteristics into electrical signals. In a learning mode, the electrical signals are transmitted to a processor and stored in memory. In a verification mode, the electrical signals are transmitted to the processor and compared with the previously-stored signals. If the processor concludes that the signals match the signals stored in memory, then the processor instructs a lock actuation mechanism to actuate an access control device to allow the user access to a location.

Abstract: A container security device includes a housing, electronic circuitry, and cabling. The electronic circuitry is disposed within the housing, and includes first and second microprocessor functions and an interface for accepting and providing data. The cabling is removably coupled to the housing, provides the only communicative coupling between the first microprocessor function and the second microprocessor function, and is adapted to be attached to a container latch so as to break the communicative coupling if the latch is opened. The housing includes a port for the electronic circuitry interface. A method of providing container security includes closing a container using a latch device and removably coupling the cabling to the housing so that the communicative coupling is broken if the latch is opened., providing the only communicative coupling between the first microprocessor function and the second microprocessor function.

Abstract: A transmitting antenna to transmit a request signal in a vehicle compartment is disposed off the center line of the vehicle compartment in a vehicle width direction. The output strength of the request signal transmitted by the transmitting antenna is switched in such a manner that a receivable output range of the request signal by a portable device reaches one of both doors which is equipped with one of access switches which has been operated. Accordingly, it can be properly recognized whether the portable device is located inside the vehicle compartment or outside the vehicle compartment even if the transmitter to transmit the request signal in the vehicle compartment is disposed off the center line of the vehicle compartment in the vehicle width direction.

Abstract: While ECUs are connected with a distribution apparatus via a communication line, each of the ECUs sends status notification representing own status to the distribution apparatus. The distribution apparatus creates status information representing status of the ECUs in accordance with status notifications received from the ECUs connected with the distribution apparatus. This status information is sent to other distribution apparatuses together with data for synchronizing a database. The other ECUs perform similar operations to those of the ECUs, while the other distribution apparatuses perform similar operations to those of the distribution apparatus. Therefore, each of the distribution apparatuses can recognize the status of all the ECUs.
