  • Patent number: 10775514
Abstract: A system of particle detectors can determine the location of a source without rotations or iterations. Embodiments of the system may comprise a middle detector flanked by two shield plates, with two side detector panels exterior to the shields. The middle detector may be positioned toward the front and orthogonal to the side detectors. By comparing a ratio of the detector data to a predetermined angular correlation function, the system can determine both the sign and magnitude of the source angle in real-time. Embodiments of the system can rapidly and automatically localize sources including nuclear and radiological weapons materials, whether in vehicles or cargo containers, and can provide improved sensitivity in walk-through personnel portal applications, enable enhanced detection of hidden weapons by a mobile area scanner, and enable a hand-held survey meter that indicates the radiation level as well as the location of the source of radiation.

  • Patent number: 10467888
Abstract: A method of dynamically adjusting an emergency coordination simulation system includes performing an emergency coordination simulation for a subarea of a geographic region based on expected user behavior in the subarea and environmental variables of the subarea. An emergency notice is transmitted to a plurality of users. A plurality of citizen sensor reports is received from the users via citizen sensor monitoring devices. The devices communicate with a backend system and form a citizen sensor platform. A consistency check is performed on the plurality of citizen sensor reports. The plurality of citizen sensor reports is filtered to remove outliers. An emergency coordination resimulation is performed for the subarea based on the expected user behavior in the subarea, the environmental variables of the subarea, and the filtered plurality of citizen sensor reports. An updated emergency notice is transmitted to the plurality of users based on the emergency coordination resimulation.

Abstract: An access control system utilizes authorized users' mobile electronic devices for transmitting biometric identifiers in combination with using an access card, for authenticating the user's access privileges for unlocking a secure door. The system may further verity proximity of the user's device to the access control reader, which verities correspondence of the access card with the transmitted biometric characteristics. The system may further require entry of a PIN into the user's device, for its transmission to the access control system for access confirmation. A scanner scans the area around its geographic location for signals emitted by mobile electronic devices, and identities a position, a type, and an address of each device, using characteristics of the signals. Audio analytics detect-identify a position of sudden sound fluctuations indicating a gunshot/fight incident, and correlates the incident location to a device location. Video analytics correlate imaged people with detected electronic devices.

  • Patent number: 10424185
Abstract: A mobile electronic device such as a smartphone is used in conjunction with a deep learning system to detect and respond to personal danger. The deep learning system monitors current information (such as location, audio, biometrics, etc.) from the smartphone and generates a risk score by comparing the information to a routine profile for the user. If the risk score exceeds a predetermined threshold, an alert is sent to the smartphone which presents an alert screen to the user. The alert screen allows the user to cancel the alert (and notify the deep learning system) or confirm the alert (and immediately transmit an emergency message). Multiple emergency contacts can be designated, e.g., one for a low-level risk, another for an intermediate-level risk, and another for a high-level risk, and the emergency message can be sent to a selected contact depending upon the severity of the risk score.

  • Patent number: 10397395
Abstract: Intent-based reminders are provided. A user is enabled to initiate a reminder request based on an intent to enter or leave a given location. In a geofence training process, a plurality of geofences are created for plotting a path and subsequently tracking the user's traversal of the path for inferring the user's intent to depart or enter the location. A signal strength of a WLAN is recorded at each geofence. As the user traverses the path, a determination is made as to whether a predetermined percentage of the geofences is triggered in a sequential order by comparing the signal strength of the WLAN against the recorded WLAN signal strengths at the geofences. In some examples, signal strengths of neighboring WLANs are recorded and used to filter out false triggers. When a determination is made that the user's intent is to depart or enter the location, a reminder is provided.
