  • Patent number: 9628425
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for handling notifications. An instruction from the user is received to redirect notifications to alternative computing device(s). After a notification (e.g., operating system update) is received from a computing device (e.g., computing device of the presenter of an electronic presentation), the notification is queued. A graphical representation of the notification is saved as an image and the action buttons within the notification are translated into textual actions. The image of the graphical representation of the notification and the textual actions are sent to the alterative computing device(s), such as via MMS. In this manner, notifications are prevented from being displayed and interrupting the user, such as a presenter of a presentation, by redirecting such notifications to an alternative computing device. • Patent number: 9472081
Abstract: The child locator system comprises a display unit and a tracking unit. The tracking unit is a GPS locator that is attached to the child's clothing using a magnetic lock similar to those used to protect clothing in retail stores. The display unit is also fitted with a GPS locator. The tracking unit wirelessly communicates its position to the display unit. The display unit monitors the position of the tracking unit relative to the position of the display unit. Should the display unit lose contact with the tracking unit or should the tracking unit move more than a predetermined distance away from the display unit an alarm is sounded. The display unit is integrated with mapping software that can display the current (or last known) positions of both the display unit and the tracking unit on demand.

  • Patent number: 9451485
Abstract: Disclosed herein are technologies for detecting misleading identifiable wireless signal (IWS) sources by a mobile device. When a mobile device attempts to estimate its location or route based upon ambient IWS sources, such estimations presume that the ambient IWS sources are unique, stationary, and relatively short ranged. A misleading IWS source is one that does not adhere to one or more of those presumptions. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 9432430
Abstract: A computing device to perform incident identification on streamed event data is provided. An event block object is received. The event block object includes a measurement data value generated by a sensor. A plurality of measurement data values and associated time values are extracted for the plurality of event block objects that occur during a time window. A similarity measure is computed between the measurement data values and each of a plurality of reference incident signatures. A best matching reference incident signature is selected from the similarity measures. The similarity measure for the selected best matching reference incident signature is compared to a threshold value. When the selected similarity measure satisfies the threshold value, a type of incident for the extracted measurement data values is identified as a type of incident defined for the selected best matching reference incident signature and is output to an incident information subscribing device.

Abstract: A network based indoor positioning and geofencing system and method is described. Beacons are disposed within a physical premises and each beacon transmits a signal containing identifying information. A networked indoor positioning module receives measured reference points that include a measured beacon identifier and a measured signal strength. The networked indoor positioning module uses the measured reference points to generate calculated signal strength values for at least one detected beacon. At least one geofence is associated with the physical premises and the geofence includes some of the calculated signal strength values. A wireless device receives a beacon identifier and a beacon signal strength, when the wireless device is in or near a geofence associated the physical premises.

  • Patent number: 9407332
Abstract: A communication system that uses keyed modulation to encode fixed frequency communications on a variable frequency power transmission signal in which a single communication bit is represented by a plurality of modulations. To provide a fixed communication rate, the number of modulations associated with each bit is dynamic varying as a function of the ratio of the communication frequency to the carrier signal frequency. In one embodiment, the present invention provides dynamic phase-shift-keyed modulation in which communications are generated by toggling a load at a rate that is a fraction of the power transfer frequency. In another embodiment, the present invention provides communication by toggling a load in the communication transmitter at a rate that is phase locked and at a harmonic of the power transfer frequency. In yet another embodiment, the present invention provides frequency-shift-keyed modulation, including, for example, modulation at one of two different frequencies.
