Traffic Control Indicator Patents (Class 340/907)
  • Patent number: 9805505
Abstract: Objects within two-dimensional video data are modeled by three-dimensional models as a function of object type and motion through manually calibrating a two-dimensional image to the three spatial dimensions of a three-dimensional modeling cube. Calibrated three-dimensional locations of an object in motion in the two-dimensional image field of view of a video data input are determined and used to determine a heading direction of the object as a function of the camera calibration and determined movement between the determined three-dimensional locations. The two-dimensional object image is replaced in the video data input with an object-type three-dimensional polygonal model having a projected bounding box that best matches a bounding box of an image blob, the model oriented in the determined heading direction. The bounding box of the replacing model is then scaled to fit the object image blob bounding box, and rendered with extracted image features.

Abstract: Traffic flow control. A method identifies traffic in an area. The traffic includes traffic objects. The identifying obtains identifiers of traffic objects in the area. Each traffic object is identified by a respective identifier of the traffic object identifiers. The method also dynamically assigns weights to the traffic objects based on pre-established traffic criteria. Each traffic object is assigned a respective weight of the dynamically assigned weights. The pre-established traffic criteria each include at least one weight value. The weight assigned to a traffic object is based on the weight values of a set of traffic criteria, of the pre-established traffic criteria, applicable to the traffic object and reflects a level of prioritization of a right-of-way of the traffic object. The method also controls flow of the traffic in the area. The controlling the flow includes controlling at least one traffic control signal based on the dynamically assigned weights.

  • Patent number: 9796329
Abstract: A safety light system on an excavator or parked vehicle that is manually operated by the excavator operator. The unit is typically controlled by a single button located in the excavator cab. The excavator operator presses the button. A green LED, or other green light, projects a green beam of light toward the rear of the truck. This signals the truck driver that he can begin backing toward the excavator. At a predetermined distance, the excavator operator again pushes the button. The unit switches to an orange light. Finally, in a final position, the excavator operator again presses the button to project a red light. As the truck driver backs toward the excavator, he first sees green, then orange and finally red. Upon seeing red, he knows to stop backing. A fourth push can again project a green light signaling a safe condition for drive-away.

Abstract: Pedestrian and motorist warning system that is powered from vehicle generated movement where there is little or no access to a power grid. Pedals maybe disposed on the road such that when a vehicle passes over it, it informs a controller system to activate a warning board or light to notify people of the oncoming vehicle, the signs or lights maybe placed besides a pedestrian crossing to alert pedestrians of the risk of an oncoming vehicle. Illuminating road corner LEDs, roadside lights and road arrows disposed in various sections of the road are also powered from vehicle generated movement operate on a set of programmed criteria's. Variables such as time of day, the speed of the vehicle, the weather, the temperature or fog all determine the way all the connected devices operate.

Abstract: Methods and systems for reducing the required footprint of SNoW-based classifiers via optimization of classifier features. A compression technique involves two training cycles. The first cycle proceeds normally and the classifier weights from this cycle are used to rank the Successive Mean Quantization Transform (SMQT) features using several criteria. The top N (out of 512 features) are then chosen and the training cycle is repeated using only the top N features. It has been found that OCR accuracy is maintained using only 60 out of 512 features leading to an 88% reduction in RAM utilization at runtime. This coupled with a packing of the weights from doubles to single byte integers added a further 8× reduction in RAM footprint or a reduction of 68× over the baseline SNoW method.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for adapting the driving-off behavior of a vehicle to a traffic signal installation, in which method the traffic signal installation permits passing in a first state and forbids passing in a second state. By means of vehicle-to-X communication means, state information and time information of the traffic signal installation are received by the vehicle and forwarded by the vehicle to a traffic light phase assistance system. Furthermore, the vehicle receives presence information comprising at least position indications from surrounding vehicles that are capable of vehicle-to-X communication. In addition, the position of the vehicle is determined by means of position-determining means.

A method includes maintaining a traffic signal in a GREEN phase in a first direction, including displaying a GREEN indicator in the first direction. The method includes detecting an event indicating that the phase of the traffic signal in the first direction should be changed and changing the phase of the traffic signal to a pre-YELLOW phase in response to the detected event, including continuing to display the GREEN indicator in the first direction. The method includes wirelessly transmitting a message indicating the pre-YELLOW phase and a phase time, the phase time indicating a next change of phase of the traffic signal, and changing the phase of the traffic signal to a YELLOW phase when the phase time has been reached.

  • Patent number: RE45452
Abstract: A system for and a method of synchronous acquisition of pulsed source light performs monitoring of aircraft flight operation. Diode sources of illumination (18, 108, 208) are pulsed (16, 106, 206) at one-half the video frame rate of an imaging camera (36, 136, 236). Alternate frames view the world-scene with lights of interest pulsed on, and then off, respectively. Video differencing (34, 134, 234) eliminates the background scene, as well as all lights not of interest. Suitable threshholding over a resulting array of camera pixel-differences acquires the desired lights and represents them as point symbology on a display (40, 140, 240). In an enhanced vision landing system embodiment, the desired lights (symbols) overlay or are fused on a thermal image of the scene; alternatively, the symbols overlay a visible scene (TV) image.
