The broadband antenna of the present invention can realize a bandwidth exceeding 70% without using a multilayer substrate to implement the broadband properties, by forming a geometric structure of a slot, i.e., a spidron fractal, which has not been used in the conventional antennas, on the ground surface of the antenna. The present invention can also induce the radiation properties of a circularly-polarized wave from the properties of the spidron fractal shape, without employing an additional secondary circuit such as a phase distribution circuit for implementing the circularly-polarized wave. Abstract: A chip component with dielectric substrate and plurality of radiating antenna elements on the surface thereof. In one embodiment, two (2) substantially symmetric elements are used, each covering an opposite head and upper surface portion of the device. The surface between the elements comprises a slot. The chip is mounted on a circuit board (e.g., PCB) whose conductor pattern is part of the antenna. No ground plane is used under the chip or its sides to a certain distance. One of the antenna elements is coupled to the feed conductor on the PCB and to the ground plane, while the parasitic element is coupled only to the ground plane. The parasitic element is fed through coupling over the slot, and both elements resonate at the operating frequency. The antenna can be tuned and matched without discrete components, is substantially omni-directional, and has low substrate losses due to simple field image.

Abstract: Radio frequency certificates of authenticity (RFCOAs) are presented. In one implementation, a scattering agent is attached to an object to provide a reproducible radio frequency (RF) fingerprint that can be used to authenticate a tag or a seal for the object. In one implementation, the RF fingerprint is measured and digitized, combined with information associated with the object to which the RFCOA is attached, and stored in a radio frequency identification (RFID) system associated with the RFCOA. A scanner receives the fingerprint and the information and authenticates the information by comparing the fingerprint against a new fingerprint obtained from the object.

Abstract: A method of making a double-sided antenna for high frequency devices is discussed. The method includes forming metal patterns on both sides of a substrate having pre-formed connection holes. Preferably, the metal patterns are formed using a printing ink having a precursor and a solvent. In one embodiment, the metal patterns include coils which are formed on both sides of the substrate. In one embodiment, shunt bars are used to speed up the process of making the metal patterns. The shunt bars are punched out at the end of the process to electrically isolate the metal patterns.
