Abstract: A computer system is described for automatically generating a 3D model, including hardware and non-transitory computer readable medium accessible by the hardware and storing instructions that when executed by the hardware cause it to create wire-frame data of structures within a geographic area; identify a geographic location of a structure of the structures; receive multiple oblique images representing the geographic location and containing a real façade texture of the structure; locate a geographical position of a real façade texture of the structure; select one or more base oblique image from the multiple oblique images by analyzing, with selection logic, image raster content of the real façade texture depicted in the multiple oblique images, and, relate the real façade texture of the one or more base oblique image to the wire-frame data of the structure to create a three dimensional model providing a real-life representation of physical characteristics of the structure.
Abstract: A graphics-aided geodesic device is provided. The device may include a display, camera, distance meter, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System, including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo) receiver and antenna, and horizon sensors. Data from the camera and horizon sensors may be displayed to assist the user in positioning the device over a point of interest. In one example, the distance meter may be used to determine the position of the point of interest. In another example, images of the point of interest taken from multiple locations may be used to determine the position of the point of interest.

Abstract: A workflow for 3D content authoring, delivery, and rendering is facilitated based on pre-authored image projections to obtain improvements in authoring efficiency. Additionally, a content delivery platform centered on such pre-authored image projections provides a mechanism for significantly improving streaming efficiency for 3D worlds. Multiple images encode primary surface detail of 3D worlds in real-time applications. An algorithm for improved image projection camera path trajectories, sampling selection, and blending may be implemented by various systems and methods to facilitate smooth transitions during movements of a player within a game set in the 3D space. In addition, a back-projection technique may be implemented by various systems and methods to propagate revisions of one or more projections.

Abstract: One or more techniques to reduce or eliminate the false depth of objects that move along the axis of ocular separation when displayed using time division multiplexing. Experiments can be performed to determine a perceived depth of an object moving with known velocity. Then, when rendering stereoscopic image pairs, the location of the object can be modified to change the perceived stereoscopic depth of the object to compensate for the false depth. In one technique, the images can be displayed with alternating left- and right-precedence to reduce the perception of false depth.

Abstract: Multisampling techniques provide temporal as well as spatial antialiasing. Coverage for a primitive is determined at multiple sample locations for a pixel. In one embodiment, coverage is determined using boundary equations representing a boundary surface of the primitive in a three-dimensional space-time. A shading value for the primitive is computed for the pixel and stored for each coverage sample location of the pixel that is covered by the primitive. The sample locations are distributed in both space and time, and multiple sample locations share a single shading computation. The multisampling techniques are extendable to other dimensions that correspond to other image attributes.
Abstract: It is provided a computer-implemented method for designing a 3D modeled object. The method comprises providing a base mesh controlling a subdivision surface. The subdivision surface models the 3D modeled object. The method also comprises providing a polyline consisting of connected edges of the base mesh and defining a smooth portion of the polyline comprising an extremity of the polyline and a sharp portion of the polyline upstream the smooth portion. The method also comprises converting faces of the mesh adjacent to the polyline into parametric patches approximating the subdivision surface. The patches have a G0 connection across the sharp portion of the polyline, and the patches have a Gi connection across the smooth portion of the polyline, where i is an integer higher or equal to 1. Such a method improves the design of a 3D modeled object modeled by a subdivision surface.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for application broadcasting. For one embodiment, pixel data being broadcast from a moderator to one or more participants is divided into tiles. Display data is generated for each tile. Each display data segment (segment) contains the pixel data for the tile, and also contains a tile identifier. The segments are periodically evaluated. If the pixel data has changed, the segment is replaced with the most recent segment corresponding to that tile. A time indicator is also included within each segment for each tile indicating the time at which the segment was updated. A participant DPS requests data from the server and provides the time indicator for the last segment it received. The server then transmits the current segment for each tile that has been updated subsequently. This allows presentation at the participant's DPS of the most current version of the moderator's display screen.

Abstract: An approach and a method for efficient execution of nested map-reduce framework workloads to take advantage of the combined execution of central processing units (CPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs) and lower latency of data access in accelerated processing units (APUs) is described. In embodiments, metrics are generated to determine whether a map or reduce function is more efficiently processed on a CPU or a GPU. A first metric is based on ratio of a number of branch instructions to a number of non-branch instructions, and a second metric is based on the comparison of execution times on each of the CPU and the GPU. Selecting execution of map and reduce functions based on the first and second metrics result in accelerated computations. Some embodiments include scheduling pipelined executions of functions on the CPU and functions on the GPU concurrently to achieve power-efficient nested map reduce framework execution.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for enhancing contrast of a color image displayed on a display system and an image processing system utilizing the same. In the present invention, the gray values of R, G, and B components of one color image are separately counted during processing the image. When calculating the corresponding output values for the gray values of R, G, and B components in each pixel, they are adapted to ratios between the gray values of R, G, and B components. Therefore, the present invention can effectively maintain the color distribution for a considerable degree and greatly enhance the image contrast.

Abstract: An image control apparatus wherein an acquisition unit acquires position information from attribute information of the image, a setting unit sets a display scale of a map when displaying the image on the map, and a generation unit generates display data for displaying the map and the image on a display device using the acquired position information and the set display scale, when the set display scale is lower than a predetermined display scale, the generation unit generates display data in which the image is laid out at a position corresponding to the position information on the map, and when the display scale is higher than the predetermined display scale, the generation unit generates display data in which the image and the map are laid out without laying out the image on the map.
Abstract: Surfaces without a global surface coordinate system are divided into surface regions having local surface coordinate systems to enable the caching of surface attribute values. A surface attribute value for a surface region may include contributions from two or more adjacent surfaces. Sample points may be arranged at the corners, rather than centers, of surface regions and include prefiltered values based on two or more surfaces. A renderer may sample the surface attribute function using these prefiltered values without accessing any adjacent surfaces, even if the renderer's filter crosses a surface boundary. A multiresolution cache stores surface attribute values at different resolution levels for surface regions of one or more surfaces, which may be discontiguous. Two or more resolution levels may have the same number of sample points but have values based on filters with different areas and spatial frequency limits. Resolution levels may be selected based on geodesic distance on a surface.

Abstract: The disclosure provides an information processing method and an electronic device. The electronic device includes a display unit and M sensing units, and an operating system and K applications based on the operating system are installed on the electronic device, M and K are positive integers. The method includes: detecting N sensed parameters by N sensing units in the M sensing units, wherein N is an integer greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to M; determining an object corresponding to the N sensed parameters; recording the N sensed parameters and the object; and adjusting a display parameter for a display object displayed on the display unit according to the N sensed parameters and object that are recorded.
Abstract: The system control section 50 displays the entire original image as a display image, or scrolls a display image with a part of the original image being the display image, depending on relationship between the aspect ratios of the original image and the display area.
