Abstract: Multiple electronic displays are arranged to define an ensemble of the user's choosing. The processor generates and displays a uniquely encoded emblem encoding a unique identifier for that display. A camera captures at least one image of the ensemble so that the encoded emblem for each display is captured. The captured images are then processed to extract the following attributes: a) unique identifier of the display; b) position of the encoded emblem relative to the reference coordinate system; and c) pointing direction of the encoded emblem relative to the reference coordinate system. The processor collectively processes the attributes for each of the emblem images to compute for each display a transformation matrix that selects a portion of the image data for display on that monitor and performs pointing direction correction so that the information presented on that display appears spatially consistent with the information presented on the other displays.

The techniques feature an energy minimization scheme in which distances between points on the surface of the three-dimensional virtual object serve as set lengths for springs connecting points of a planar mesh. The planar mesh is adjusted to minimize spring energy, and then used to define a patch upon which a two-dimensional texture is superimposed. Points on the surface of the virtual object are then mapped to corresponding points of the texture. The method includes obtaining a digital image of at least a portion of a first object including a first feature (164) (106). The image including the first feature (164) is displayed on a display device (108). During a reconstruction process, one or more control points (168A, 168B, 168C, 168D) are associated with feature points (164A, 164B, 164C) along an extent of the displayed first feature (164) (109). Using the associated one or more control points (168A, 168B, 168C and 168D), a data file is created that corresponds to the first feature (164) (114). The data file includes geometric properties of the feature points (164A, 164B, 164C).

Abstract: The system assures the proper operation of a programmable GPU. A list of shader programs is generated. A programmable GPU is instructed to render a set of graphic primitives to generate test image data into a test area of RAM of the GPU utilizing one of the listed programs. The GPU is instructed to combine test image data from the test area with normal image data to form a composite image as display image data. The data in the GPU RAM is output to an image processing unit (IPU), wherein the data is processed by the IPU. The IPU is utilized to apply a CRC algorithm to the test image data to calculate a check value. The calculated value is compared against a predetermined value for the test area. A fault is reported if the calculated check value does not match the predetermined value. These above steps are then repeated.

Abstract: Embodiments of enhanced user interface elements in ambient light are described. Sensor inputs can be received from light sensors that detect ambient light proximate an integrated display of a portable device. A determination is made that the ambient light detracts from the visibility of user interface elements displayed in a user interface on the integrated display. Display properties of graphic components of a user interface element are interpolated through a light range from approximately complete darkness to full sunlight, and the graphic components of a user interface element can be modified based on interpolating the display properties within the light range to enhance the visibility of the user interface element for display in the ambient light.

  • Patent number: 8928684
Abstract: An overdrive device includes a training unit, an analysis unit and a Contrast adjustment unit. The training unit establishes a luminance difference look-up table (LUT) having an R2 number of luminance differences. Each of the R2 number of luminance differences represents a luminance difference between a measured display luminance value and a target luminance value of a display device when each of first and second viewing angle images correspond to any value of a grayscale range R. With respect to first and second viewing angle input image data, for pixel data therein corresponding to a same pixel position, the analysis unit looks up the luminance difference LUT to obtain a looked-up luminance difference, and accordingly calculates a luminance difference index. The contrast adjustment unit partially adjusts the grayscale of the second viewing angle image according to the luminance value index to obtain headroom for an overdrive operation.

Abstract: When there is an instruction for rotation during a game in a first field, a CPU core of a game apparatus obtains central coordinates in a second field after the rotation and coordinates (central coordinates) of a player object and BG object in steps S53 and S55. Then, the CPU core executes a rotation process in a hardware calculation circuit, for example, in steps S57 to S61. When detecting end of the rotation in a step S63, the CPU core executes a map switch process in a step S65. In the map switch process, the CPU core generates a second field according to second area data. Then, after generating the second field, the CPU core makes a hit determination according to the second area data in a step S7, for example.

Abstract: Particular embodiments of a computing device determine unoccupied positions in a display grid, wherein the grid corresponds to specifications for a displayable region of a screen associated with a computing device. A plurality of image elements are identified as candidates for placement within the grid. Then, while at least one unoccupied position and at least one candidate image element remain, one of the candidate image elements is matched to a set of the unoccupied positions, and the positions in the matched set are designated as occupied by the matched image element. Matching may be based on a pattern of positions, which is determined using the size and the shape of the image element and a size of a position in the grid. Layout information is then provided to render the image elements in accordance with placement of each matched image element at the designated positions in the grid.

Abstract: A data processing device includes a receiving module, a rendering module and a color compensation module. The rendering module receives image data from the receiving module and renders the image data into first, second, third and fourth sub-pixel data based on a layout of a first sub-pixel, a second sub-pixel, a third sub-pixel and a fourth sub-pixel and the color compensation module compensates for a color of the first, second and third sub-pixel data. The color compensation module converts the first, second and third sub-pixel data into first, second and third intermediate data, respectively, adds first, second and third delta values, which are determined based on the fourth sub-pixel data, to the first, second and third intermediate data, and thereby generates first, second and third compensation data.

  • Patent number: 8917284
Abstract: This patent relates to thin plate spline (TPS)-based interpolation techniques for representing free-flowing vector graphics (VG) images based on user-specified features, such as points and curves. One or more features can be identified in a pixel grid. A higher-order least squares interpolating function with a TPS smoothness objective can then be utilized to interpolate individual color values to individual pixels of the pixel grid. Smoothness terms of the function that impose smoothness penalties can be interrupted in certain regions of the pixel grid based on attributes of the user-specified features. For example, a curve attribute can specify a particular color value(s), add or remove a smoothness penalty, or anisotropically impose a first derivative constraint in a particular direction.

If a dynamic change in an object is detected, the method comprises rendering the object's geometric bounding volume to a stencil buffer for each dynamically changed object, using a stencil value assigned to the current image frame. A stencil is then applied to determine areas in the frames having non-zero stencil values.
