Using Look Up Table Patents (Class 345/601)
  • Patent number: 8743142
Abstract: A present invention pixel processing system and method permit complicated three dimensional images to be rendered with shallow graphics pipelines including reduced gate counts and facilitates power conservation by utilizing a single unified data fetch stage (e.g., unified data fetch module) that retrieves a variety of different pixel surface attribute values (e.g., depth, color, and/or texture values) in a single stage. Different types of pixel surface attribute data (e.g., depth, color, texture) associated with multiple graphics processing functions (e.g., color blending, texture mapping, etc.) are retrieved in the single unified data fetch graphics pipeline stage. The pixel surface attribute values may be placed in corresponding variable fields of a pixel packet row. The pixel packet rows including the pixel surface attribute values are forwarded to downstream graphics pipeline stages (e.g., an arithmetic logic pipestage).

Abstract: The display color of, for example, a button image responsive to a command input into a facility operation display device is controlled by a palette value having a smaller number of bits than an RGB value. When the display color of the button image is changed, the palette value of a drawing object associated with the button image is changed to an RGB value. This eliminates the necessity of incorporating, for example, a high-performance CPU as a central arithmetic unit. In addition, it is not necessary to pre-store images corresponding to several kinds of display colors specified by RGB values, to thereby eliminates the necessity of incorporating, for example, a high-capacity storage medium in the facility operation display device. Accordingly, the device cost can be reduced.

Abstract: An image processing system provides faster than real-time skin detection and localization. The system uses the highly optimized architecture of a graphics processing unit to quickly and efficiently detect and locate skin in an image. By performing skin detection and localization on the graphics processing unit, the image processing system frees the main system processor to perform other important tasks, including running general purpose applications. The speed with which the image processing system detects and localizes skin also facilitates subsequent processing steps such as face detection and motion tracking.

Abstract: A control driver for a liquid crystal display panel includes: an operation circuit, an LUT (Look-up Table), and a linear interpolation D/A converter. The operation circuit performs a certain operation on input image data to generate operation data, and outputs higher order bit data and lower order bit data of the operation data. The LUT includes a V-T (Voltage-Transmittance) characteristic of the liquid crystal display panel, and outputs first output data and second output data as display data based on the higher order bit data and the V-T characteristic. The linear interpolation D/A converter performs an linear interpolation operation and D/A conversion to generate output voltage supplied to the liquid crystal display panel in response to the first output data, the second output data and the lower order bit data.

  • Patent number: 8436856
Abstract: A shader can include a series of instructions, among which are horizontal instructions and vertical instructions. Executing such shader for rendering animation information may mean many redundant computations on millions of graphic data points. Thus, vertical instructions are separated out from horizontal instructions and executed in a vertical manner, thereby reducing rendering time and cache space used during the process. That is, a block of instructions is recursively subdivided until a number of instructions that are to be executed in a horizontal manner are approximately minimized in each sub-block. All of the identified vertical sub-blocks can process each data point individually and independently from other data points, thereby achieving various advantages, including, but not limited to, temporary processing, index processing, efficient caching and the like.

Abstract: Modifying a color lookup table includes receiving a first image, a first color lookup table (CLUT) indexed in a first image color space, and a second CLUT indexed in a colorimetric space. Tracer pixels from the second CLUT are generated and retained, each tracer pixel including color coordinates of a corresponding unique node in the first CLUT. Tracer pixels are inserted into the first image, and tracer pixels are tracked. Color adjustments are made using image editing software to generate an adjusted combined image having adjusted tracer pixels. The adjusted tracer pixels are extracted. The second CLUT is converted to a third CLUT having a size N1×N2×N3×N4 by replacing each of the output-device color coordinates of the second CLUT nodes by modified device color coordinates computed from the adjusted color coordinates of the adjusted tracer pixels.

  • Publication number: 20130093783
Abstract: A method of producing a color image using a display comprised of pixels comprising red, green and blue primary color subpixels. The method comprises reducing the color gamut and increasing the brightness of the image relative to a base level, decreasing power to the display to reduce the brightness of the image, restoring color to the image to approximately the base level by modifying image pixel data using a three-dimensional lookup table to produce output image pixel data, and communicating the output image pixel data to the display. The display may be an LCD display, an LED display, an OLED display, a plasma display, and a DMD projector. Reducing the color gamut and increasing the brightness of the image may be accomplished by adding white to the image. The white may be added adaptively according to an algorithm by which the amount of white added decreases with increasing color saturation.

  • Patent number: 8422101
Abstract: A color conversion device includes a profile storage unit, a saturation determining unit, a first selecting unit, and a conversion unit. The profile storage unit stores a plurality of profiles, each profile indicating correspondence relationships between input color signals representing values in an input color space defined in an input-side device and output color signals representing values in an output color space defined in an output-side device. The saturation determining unit is configured to determine a saturation of pixel data in input image data, the input image data being represented by input color signals and including a plurality of regions, each region containing at least one set of pixel data. The first selecting unit is configured to select, for each region, one profile among the plurality of profiles as an active profile based on the saturation of the at least one set of pixel data that is contained in the each region.

Abstract: Before the transmission of the source color values of the images of each group Gk of images of this sequence, a partial color transform LUT related to this group Gk is generated, then transmitted, —and, a resultant color transform LUT related to said group Gk is reconstructed by combining the transmitted partial color transform look up table of this group Gk with, if any, all the other partial color transform look up tables that have been previously transmitted, —then each images of said group are color transformed using this LUT. The invention allows a good precision of color transformation with a limited bandwidth.
