Abstract: The present invention relates to a color LCOS display chip and the drive and control method thereof. With new structure design and drive and control method, the video signal nonlinear correcting chip, display drive signal control chip and other high cost special chips which are used in conventional control and drive circuit are abandoned. Multiple systems are integrated in a single chip to save PCB required for combination of multi-system chips, which leads to a lower production cost. The weight and size of control and drive circuit are reduced due to fewer integrated circuit chips and save of PCB. Power consumption is reduced without nonlinear correcting chips and display drive signal control chips. With the finite state machine (FSM) Scheduler as the core of digital signal processing module, the voltage coding value could be adjusted as per nonlinear characteristics of different crystal materials so as to achieve an optimal nonlinear correcting performance, which enhances the universality of the chip.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus includes an LCD section and a driving section. The driving section provides the LCD section with a compensated gradation datum based on a first gradation datum of an (n)-th frame, a second gradation datum of an (n+1)-th frame and a third gradation datum of an (n?1)-th frame. The driving section provides the LCD section with a sum total of a pre-tilt value that is varied in accordance with the gradation and the first gradation datum when the gradation of the second gradation datum is higher than that of the first gradation datum. The driving section provides the LCD section with the first gradation datum when a gradation of the second gradation datum is lower than that of the first gradation datum.

Abstract: A multi-domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display and a lower substrate thereof are disclosed. The voltage provided by coupling electrode lines is swung between a high voltage level and a low voltage level. Therefore, with different coupling of a large pixel electrode and of a small pixel electrode that both receive the same color displaying data, the voltage on the large pixel electrode is different from that on the small pixel electrode. The tilt angle of the liquid crystal between the large pixel electrode and the upper electrode is different from the tilt angle of the liquid crystal between the small pixel electrode and the upper electrode for compensating the gamma value of the color. Besides, through adjusting the value of the voltage respectively on the coupling electrode lines to compensate the gamma values of different colors and the gamma values of different colors will tend to be uniform.

Abstract: The optical performance is enhanced of display systems that use field sequential color and pulse width modulation to generate color and color gray scale values. Such enhancement may be achieved by various data encoding methods disclosed herein that may include temporal redistribution of bit values to mitigate color motional artifacts associated with field sequential color-based display systems, selective combination of intensity modulation, pulse width modulation, and/or the noncontiguous sequencing of primary colors. There is further an intelligent real-time dynamic manipulation of gray scale values in portions of an image that are computationally determined to be images of objects moving against a global background, so as to temporally front load or concentrate the bits comprising such moving objects and thereby further mitigate said motional artifacts using both actual and virtual aggregate pulse truncation across all primary colors being modulated.

Abstract: A device and a method for converting three color values to four color values are provided. In the method, a first to a third color values of a pixel are obtained. Further, a first to a third difference values between every two of the first to the third color values are respectively computed. If all of the first to the third difference values are lower than a threshold, a first to a fourth color converting values are generated according to the first to the third color values, and the fourth color converting value is higher than zero. On the contrary, the fourth color converting value is zero, and the first to the third color converting values are equal to the first to the third color values, respectively. Thereby, a color break-up can be suppressed, and color saturation can be maintained.
