Abstract: A display apparatus includes a gate driver, a data driver, a display panel, a power supply and a common voltage line. The gate driver outputs a gate signal, and the data driver outputs a data signal. The display panel includes a display area displaying images in response to the gate signal and the data signal, and a peripheral area surrounding the display area. The power supply generates a common voltage and supplies the common voltage to the display panel. The common voltage line is disposed in the peripheral area surrounding the display area. and the common voltage line has two ends adjacent to the power supply. One of the two ends, which is disposed farther away from the gate driver, is connected to the power supply to receive the common voltage. Abstract: A gate driving method for a liquid crystal display (LCD) and a gate driver thereof are provided. The LCD has a plurality of scan lines. The method starts by generating a gate driving signal. A correction signal is superposed to the gate driving signal to generate a corrected gate driving signal and to reduce a high voltage level of the gate driving signal, wherein a polarity of the correction signal is opposite to a polarity of the gate driving signal. The corrected gate driving signal is then outputted to drive one of the corresponding scan lines.

Abstract: To equalize the intensity of light emitted by display elements on a display device, a plurality of current-drive circuits are connected in cascade through two terminals of each of the current-drive circuits, each comprising a reference current generation section including a reference resistor and a plurality of current drive sections. Reference current sunk by an external reference current source causes a voltage drop across the reference resistor, and the voltage drop is applied across a current adjustment resistor In response to an image signal, the current-drive circuit outputs current, determined by multiplying each of a plurality of internal reference currents by an optional factor and summing the resulting currents to the display elements. Since the magnitude of the internal reference current flowing inside the current-drive circuit can be varied by varying the value of the current adjustment resistor, gamma correction can be applied to drive current with high accuracy.

Abstract: In an image data processing device of the invention, an image memory sequentially stores input image data of multiple frames. A write control module controls a writing operation into the image memory, and a read control module controls a reading operation from the image memory. A driving image data generation module generates the driving image data from read image data sequentially read from the image memory. The driving image data generation module generates the driving image data by replacing at least part of the read image data with regard to selected pixels with mask data. The mask data is set corresponding to a pixel value of the read image data in each of the selected pixels to be replaced with the mask data. This arrangement of the invention effectively reduces blur of a moving image displayed by the image display device, while preventing a significant decrease in luminance level of the displayed image.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to reduce the exterior of a display device while retaining a display screen at a certain size. A liquid crystal display panel including a TFT substrate formed with a glass substrate and a color filter substrate is stored in a frame made of a metal. In order to avoid the direct contact between the glass substrate and the frame made of a metal, part of an optical sheet included in a backlight disposed behind the liquid crystal display panel is extended to lie between the liquid crystal display panel and the frame, and is regarded as a spacer. Since the thickness of the optical sheet is as small as 0.06 mm, the spacer hardly affects the external dimensions of a display device. Consequently, while a crack of the glass substrate is prevented, the exterior of the display device can be reduced.
