Ic Card Or Card Member Patents (Class 361/737)
  • Patent number: 6970354
Abstract: A processor retainer assembly prevents inadvertent removal of a processor from a circuit board socket by forces exerted on an information handling system that are translated from a heat sink to the processor by the coupling of thermal grease between the heat sink and the processor. A retention frame couples to a motherboard around the processor socket to support movement of the processor retainer between open and closed positions. A securing device hinge rotationally couples the processor retainer to the retention frame and a securing device latch locks the processor retainer in the closed position to restrict movement of the processor from the socket. A heat sink contacts the processor through an opening in the processor retainer. Heat sink supports extending from the retention frame engage the heat sink so that a single processor retainer assembly retains the processor in the socket and the heat sink proximate to the processor.

  • Patent number: 6945465
Abstract: An IC card has a card substrate having semiconductor integrated circuit chips mounted thereon and a plurality of connector terminals formed thereon. The connector terminals are exposed from a casing. The connector terminals are laid out in plural sequences in staggered form between sequences adjacent to one another forward and backward as viewed in an IC card inserting direction. Owing to the adoption of the staggered layout, a structure or configuration wherein the amounts of protrusions of socket terminals of a card socket are changed and the socket terminals are laid out in tandem, can be adopted with relative ease. If a connector terminal arrangement of a downward or low-order IC card is adopted as a specific connector terminal sequence as it is, whereas a function dedicated for an upward or high-order IC card is assigned to another staggered connector terminal arrangement, then backward compatibility can also be implemented with ease.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a common connector for memory cards and a switching arbitration method for the shared Pins of the connector, i.e., a common connector which allows many different types of memory cards to be inserted in and fixed at different times. A multiple of rows/sets of different types of Pins are devised on one side of a baseboard of the common connector. And particularly, a set of shared Pins enables identification of interface signals from SD/MMC cards or SM cards. Under the control of corresponding memory card detection switches and switching arbitration circuits, the shared Pins can be connected to interface signals from a SD/MMC card or a SM card. • Patent number: 6845014
Abstract: An add-on cartridge structure for electronic devices having a housing formed from upper and lower case sections. The upper case is typically made from plastic and has a conductive layer formed on inside surfaces, while the lower case is made from a metallic material such as aluminum. A wall-like mating member is disposed on an outer edge of the lower case, and mates with the sides of the upper case to form a nearly rectangular cross section housing. The double conductive layer formed by the outside surface of the mating member and the inside surface of the upper case prevents leakage of electromagnetic radiation from the cartridge. Furthermore, high frequency noise is prevented by grounding both the signal ground of the printed circuit board and the frame ground at multiple locations. The conductive layer has a surface break caused by a through-hole through which the printed circuit board plug protrudes to the outside.

Abstract: An electrical card has a dielectric housing, a connector, a printed circuit board (PCB) mounted on the dielectric housing, a first shell, a second shell, a first cover and a second cover. The first cover and the second cover respectively form engaging edges at opposite sides thereof. The engaging edges are slantwise assembled into latching slots of the dielectric housing and facilitate positioning of the first cover and the second cover. When pressing the engaging edges, the first cover and the second cover are released from the dielectric housing thereby simplifying repairing. Engaging means is provided to connect the first shell, the second shell, the first cover, the second cover and the dielectric housing together thereby simplifying assembly and disassembly.

  • Patent number: 6824064
Abstract: A smart card capable of having a plurality of applications has a memory that is logically partitioned into a plurality of memory blocks. A control program allocates one or more blocks to one of the applications, upon a declaration from the application of its memory needs, and schedules the applications for execution. Only those applications whose memory needs have been satisfied are scheduled. The control program receives a permission request packet from a host, addressed to an application, and passes the permission request packet to the application. When the control program receives a permission packet from the addressed application after the addressed application has had its declared memory needs satisfied, the control program sends the permission packet to the host. A virtual machine is used to execute one or more of the applications. The control program communicates with the virtual machine to control scheduling to predetermined time granularity.
