With Particular Material Patents (Class 361/757)
  • Patent number: 5432676
Abstract: A case for housing an electronic apparatus has two main portions and a hinge portion which connects the main portions so as to be opened and closed. The case is formed of plastic molding. The hinge portion is formed of a soft resin having a resiliency, and the main portion is formed of a hard resin and integral with the hinge portion. A wiring member for provide an electric connection between the main portions extend through the hinge portion. The wiring member passes at a center of rotation on which the hinge portion is turned.

  • Patent number: 5428190
Abstract: A multilayer rigid-flex circuit board having two or more conductive layers, with at least one rigid circuit board electrically connected to at least one flexible jumper connector or intercircuit connector circuit board, is disclosed. A conductive layer of each of the rigid circuit boards is connected electrically and mechanically to a conductive layer of the flexible jumper connector by an interconnecting adhesive layer. The interconnecting adhesive layer comprises a conductive adhesive material having a plurality of deformable, electrically conductive particles dispersed substantially throughout a non-conductive adhesive. The fabricated multilayer circuit boards have interconnections which are reliable, heat resistant, and capable of withstanding the mechanical strain of the interconnection and the thermal cycling and typical circuit board fabrication, finishing and assembly processes. Such a rigid-flex circuit is typically used in an environment where space is limited.

  • Patent number: 5420575
Abstract: A substantially transparent housing (202) for an electronic device (100) is capable of enclosing at least one component (502, 504). The enclosed at least one component (502, 504) can be visible from the outside of the housing (202). The housing (202) includes an outer surface (701) and an inner surface (702). A portion of the inner surface (703) is textured to provide a translucent surface. A portion of the outer surface (704) overlaps the textured portion of the inner surface (703). The overlapping portion of the outer surface (704) has opaque marks (602). The opaque marks (602) provide information visible from the outside of the housing (202). A method is also provided for applying the opaque marks (602) to the housing (202).

  • Patent number: 5327870
Abstract: An improved glow plug controller for a diesel engine is disclosed. The glow plug controller has a novel packaging, and means for facilitating rapid and inexpensive assembly. A novel two-chamber tubular housing includes a smaller first chamber having a threaded exterior surface for engagement with a threaded hole in an engine block. This first chamber communicates with a larger second chamber also defined by the housing. A connector bearing conductive connector pins is provided for sealing the open end of the larger chamber. The connector includes a pair of support rails for engaging a piece of circuit board on which glow plug circuitry resides. In assembly, the circuit board is first mounted on the support rails which are subsequently inserted into the larger second chamber when the connector is affixed to the open end of the second chamber. The connector pins are conductively coupled to glow plug circuitry on the circuit board via portions of conductive foil on a surface of the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5289345
Abstract: A housing for interconnecting an opto-electronic device with a ferrule includes a base and a cover cooperable with the base to define a chamber. The housing also includes an elastomeric board mount, with pylons supporting a substrate, disposed in a sealing relationship between the base and the cover when the same are conjoined and arranged to seal legs on the substrate that extend through the elastomeric board mount.
