Abstract: The present invention discloses a container or bag with several types of compartments with different forms of electromagnetic/wireless shielding. The types of compartments include a) an electromagnetic/wireless shielded compartment useful for line-of-site type shielding, b) an electromagnetic/wireless shielded compartment useful when a complete shielding enclosure is needed, and c) an unshielded compartment. The line-of-site shielded compartment prevents wireless access to the contents contained within when a complete shielding enclosure is not required, for example, for objects containing RFID tags, such as passports, books, and clothing. The compartment with a complete shielding enclosure prevents wireless access to devices that require a complete Faraday type cage, such as mobile phones, PDAs, or computers. Placing these and other devices within the shielded compartments protects them from remote access, and the data within is shielded from unscrupulous individuals.

In one example, an electronic module includes a housing, a printed circuit board, and an electrically conductive sealing element. The printed circuit board is partially positioned within the housing and defines an edge connector extending from the housing. The electrically conductive sealing element radially surrounds 360 degrees of one end of the housing and the printed circuit board proximate the edge connector such that when the edge connector is fully received in a host board connector mounted to a host board, the electrically conductive sealing element cooperates with a corresponding structure of the host board to at least partially define a Faraday cage substantially enclosing the edge connector and the host board connector. The housing defines a radial groove which aids in the retention of the sealing element.

Abstract: An entertainment system for use with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device that includes video glasses and headphones. A Faraday shield encloses the entertainment system to reduce adequately RF signals from entering or leaving the entertainment system. The entertainment system may have non-ferromagnetic RF low-pass filters between parts of the system, such as the control unit and the video glasses, to reduce higher RF signals from entering or leaving those parts. To replace the battery and or entertainment media, a person opens the entertainment system's Faraday shield when not MRI imaging or outside the MRI magnet room. The door has an Faraday shield overlapping the system Faraday shield and making low resistance RF contact. The entertainment system has a minimal amount of ferromagnetic material so that it may operate within the high magnetic field of the MRI magnet bore with minimal performance degradation. The entertainment system uses non-ferromagnetic speakers in the headphone.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for improving the resiliency and airflow through a honeycomb air vent filter while providing EMI shielding. In one embodiment, the honeycomb can be manufactured from a dielectric (e.g., plastic) substrate to provide improved resistance to deformation as compared to conventional aluminum honeycomb. The dielectric honeycomb substrate is metallized to provide EMI shielding capability. The metallized honeycomb substrate is cut slightly oversize to fit an opening in an electronic enclosure, which results in elastic deformation of resilient perimeter spring fingers that are used to hold the metallized dielectric honeycomb in place and provide electrical conductivity between the metallized dielectric substrate and the enclosure, thereby eliminating the use of a frame. In another embodiment, additional conductive layers can be added to the metallized dielectric honeycomb.
