  • Patent number: 11483628
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for automatically cueing content for playback on a second device after it is paused or stopped on a first device. A content direction device is in electronic communication with user devices and content providers. This content direction device directs streamed content from the content providers to the various user devices. When a user pauses or stops playback at a first device, the content direction device stops the stream. Later, when the user activates a second device, the content direction device detects the second device and directs the content provider to resume the stream, whereupon it is transmitted to the second device. In this manner, the user can pause or stop playback on one device, later activate another device, and automatically receive a cued stream of the previously paused/stopped content. No user input is required to open an application or window, or to re-select content.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for configuring a virtual port channel (VPC) domain. The disclosed technology involves determining that a first switch and a second switch are connected in a VPC domain, determining that the first switch is in a primary role, and determining a unique identifier for the first switch, a VPC portchannel number for the first switch, and an orphan port number for the first switch. Also, the first switch receives a unique identifier, a VPC portchannel number, and an orphan port number for the second switch. The first switch can associate the VPC portchannel number for the second switch and the VPC portchannel number for the first switch with a unified VPC portchannel number and create a first unique orphan port number for the first switch and a second unique orphan port number for the second switch.

  • Patent number: 10693806
Abstract: Virtual computing instances are provisioned with network resource allocation constraints, which may include hard constraints that must be met in order for the virtual computing instances to be created in a host server. Network resources from multiple hosts may be pooled in a virtual switch, and a cloud management system (CMS) may ensure that a network bandwidth reservation for a new virtual computing instance can be accommodated by network bandwidth in the pool that is reserved for communication endpoint traffic. In addition to such CMS-level constraint enforcement, techniques disclosed herein may also enforce network bandwidths constraints at the host level to guarantee that network bandwidth reservation requirements for communication endpoint(s) of a new virtual computing instance can be satisfied by a particular host before creating the virtual computing instance in that host.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electrical device and method of automatically searching for and connecting to known or unknown available public communication infrastructure and/or devices in the vicinity using a multi-layer communication model. Each layer may include binding information for local available communication methods and shareable hardware devices, a routing table, and, if applicable, one or more logon profiles for service providers. Communication layers may be built by searching for available public communication infrastructure and/or devices in the vicinity by actively sending out connection requests to all addressable destinations along the available transport medium. Each node is able to access and use the communication infrastructure of each other node. Switching between layers as they become inoperable and/or become available without any user interaction required is also possible.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards managing communication over a network with a traffic management computer (TMC). If a network protocol associated with a network traffic is unknown, additional actions may be performed. Constant value recognition actions may be selected for one or more complex protocols. The one or more complex protocols may be the Teredo protocol, or another tunneling protocol. If constant value recognition conditions may be satisfied still further actions may be performed to determine the complex protocol. If a sufficient number of the action results are affirmative, one or more operations on the network traffic may be performed based on the complex protocol. And, the network traffic may be sent to a client or a server. Performing the operations on the network traffic may include providing an identity of another network protocol that may be encapsulated in the complex protocol.

  • Patent number: 10659359
Abstract: A network device checks forwarding tables of routers in a network by sending check packets designed to reach a target router via label-forwarding. The network device determines a forwarding path from itself to a destination IP address, with the target router on the forwarding path and at N hops from itself. The network device then generates and sends a check packet having a label stack with N link labels correspond to the hops and a TTL value set to N+1. When the check packet is routed by the target router to a next-hop node of the target router, the TTL value is deducted to 0, causing the next-hop node to send a notification message to the network device. Based on the identity of the next hop node, the network device determines whether the forwarding table of the target router is correct.

Abstract: A resource allocation device is provided that, responsive to a use request for resources of a network, the use request having a pair of nodes as terminal points designated among a plurality of nodes constituting the network, searches for one or more candidate paths between the terminal points, with which amounts of the resources related to the use request can be allocated, in a state where the resources that have been allocated to one or more other use requests are set aside from the network. The device calculates, for each of the one or more searched-for-candidate paths, in a state where the resources are allocated to the candidate path, a maximum number of paths that can be allocated between the terminal points of a virtual path related to the service, and selects the candidate path with which a sum total of the maximum numbers of paths becomes greatest.

  • Patent number: 10637892
Abstract: System, methods, nodes, and instruction set for routing a session invitation from a first network (101) to a second network (112) are described. The first network (101) and the second network (112) are interconnected via at least two points of interconnect (114, 120). A first control node (124) receives a session invitation to a first user equipment (106), both are part of the first network (101). The first control node (124) determines whether a breakout condition for routing of the session invitation to the second network (112) is fulfilled. If so, a second control node (128) of the first network (101) selects a point of interconnect (114, 120) to the second network (112), considering a capability information characterizing the first control node (124). Therefore the session invitation may be routed in an efficient way from the first network (101) to the second network (112).

Abstract: The techniques herein provide for enhanced overlay network-based transport of traffic, such as IPsec traffic, e.g., to and from customer branch office locations, facilitated through the use of the Internet-based overlay routing infrastructure. This disclosure in particular describes a method of managing and enforcing quality-of-service (QoS) in an Internet-based overlay network shared by a set of content provider customer entities. For each entity having a customer branch, the customer branch is coupled to the Internet-based overlay routing network. A quality-of-service (QoS) policy is configured for the customer. According to the method, utilization of the Internet-based overlay network against the configured QoS policy is then monitored. The QoS is then enforced for the customer and at least one other customer, based in part on the QoS policies.
