  • Patent number: 11330463
Abstract: An invention relates to methods for transmitting a buffer status report (BSR) in a mobile communication system, more particularly to the definition of rules for triggering, generating and transmitting BSRs. The invention also relates to a data transmission method utilizing new rules to decide data of which radio bearers is transmitted within a given transmission time interval. Moreover, the invention relates to scheduling method for radio resources that is taking into account additional scheduling-relevant information from the buffer status reporting and/or data transmission method. To avoid unnecessary grants from the network and to suggest an advanced handling of data transmissions the invention suggests a buffer status reporting and data transmission schemes that take into account the scheduling mode of data of radio bearers pending for transmission to decide whether to report on it in a buffer status report, respectively, whether to multiplex the data to a transport block for transmission.

Abstract: Local management of data stream throttling in data movement operations, such as secondary-copy operations in a storage management system, is disclosed. A local throttling manager may interoperate with co-resident data agents and/or a media agent executing on any given local computing device, whether a client computing device or a secondary storage computing device. The local throttling manager may allocate and manage the available bandwidth for various jobs and their constituent data streams—across the data agents and/or media agent. Bandwidth is allocated and re-allocated to data streams used by ongoing jobs, in response to new jobs starting and old jobs completing, without having to pause and restart ongoing jobs to accommodate bandwidth adjustments. The illustrative embodiment also provides local users with a measure of control over data streams—to suspend, pause, and/or resume them—independently from the centralized storage manager that manages the overall storage system.

The network further includes one or more network function (NF) instances of an NF service, and a scaling controller. The switch transmits first data units to an NF instance of the NF service during a first time period. Upon receiving an incoming client request for data at a server, a request buffer condition of a client request buffer (e.g., a counter) is evaluated to determine whether the client request corresponds to an anticipated overload state with respect to a request-handling capability of the server, e.g., whether the client request buffer is full. If so, an overload response (e.g., a retry response) is returned to the client indicating so that the client retries a corresponding client request after a time delay. If not in the anticipated overload state, the request is further processed, e.g., to provide a regular response containing the requested data, such as by adding a request information entry associated with the incoming client request to the client request buffer and updating the request buffer condition.

In one aspect, a processor of a resource registration service of a management controller may receive, from a resource provider, a resource registration request to allocate a resource object in a data model. The resource registration request may include an indication that the resource object is to be joined to a public resource tree. The processor may then allocate the resource object within the data model. In allocating the resource object, the processor may update the public resource tree to link to the resource object based on the indication.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of accessing a channel in a wireless local area network is provided. A destination station receives a request to send (RTS) frame to allocate a network allocation vector from a source station over a first bandwidth and transmits a clear to send (CTS) frame over a second bandwidth to the source station in response to the RTS frame. The second bandwidth is dynamically determined when a first parameter has a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 10846788
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a bandwidth pool pricing service are disclosed. A system includes a plurality of resources of a provider network and a resource manager. The resource manager implements a programmatic interface allowing a client to choose among several supported bandwidth pricing policies for a resource group allocated to the client. One pricing policy includes a first pricing component based on an intra-group network traffic rate, and a second pricing component based on an extra-group network traffic rate. If the client selects the policy, the resource manager provides billing amounts to the client derived from the first and second pricing components and from a set of collected network traffic metrics.

  • Patent number: 10848431
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for interfaces to manage virtual network interface objects. A system may include resource instances and a network interface virtualization coordinator. Responsive to a record creation request, the coordinator creates an interface records that may include an IP address, subnet information and security properties. The coordinator may, in response to a request to attach the record to a resource instance, enable traffic directed to the IP address to flow to the resource instance. In response to a subsequent detach request, the traffic to the IP address may be disabled at the resource instance. The same interface record may be attached to another resource instance in response to another attach request, enabling traffic directed to the IP address to flow to the second resource instance.

  • Patent number: 10841227
Abstract: Datalink frames or networking packets contain protocol information in the header and optionally in the trailer of a frame or a packet. We are proposing a method in which part of or all of the protocol information corresponding to a frame or a packet is transmitted separately in another datalink frame. The “Separately Transmitted Protocol Information” is referred to as STPI. The STPI contains enough protocol information to identify the next hop node or port. STPI can be used avoid network congestion and improve link efficiency. Preferably, there will be one datalink frame or network packet corresponding to each STPI, containing the data and the rest of the protocol information and this frame/packet is referred to as DFoNP. The creation of STPI and DFoNP is done by the originator of the frame or packet such as an operating system.

Abstract: System and methods of ingress packet metering include receiving a plurality of flows combined to form an envelope with a specific bandwidth, wherein the envelope is defined such that unused bandwidth from higher rank flows is usable by lower rank flows; admitting packets from the plurality of flows based on committed tokens and excess tokens; determining unused tokens in a time interval; and distributing the unused tokens based on configured weights of the plurality of flows within the envelope. The unused tokens can be provided from a lower rank flow to a higher rank flow. The unused tokens can be determined utilizing Two Rate Three Color Marker (trTCM) metering. The receiving can be at a User-Network Interface (UNI), a Network-Network Interface (NNI), or an External NNI (ENNI) port in a node.

  • Patent number: 10812386
Abstract: A network is configured to utilize available bandwidth to conduct bulk data transfers without substantially affecting the successful transmission of time-sensitive traffic in the network. In order to avoid this interference, the packets carrying data for bulk data transfers are associated with a low priority class such that the routers of the network will preferentially drop these packets over packets associated with the normal traffic of the network. As such, when the normal traffic peaks or there are link failures or equipment failures, the normal traffic is preferentially transmitted over the bulk-transfer traffic and thus the bulk-transfer traffic dynamically adapts to changes in the available bandwidth of the network. Further, to reduce the impact of dropped packets for the bulk-transfer traffic, the packets of the bulk-transfer traffic are encoded at or near the source component using a loss-resistant transport protocol so that the dropped packets can be reproduced at a downstream link.

  • Patent number: 10798130
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, a device, and/or a system of control over data resource utilization through a security node control policy evaluated in the context of an authorization request. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an authorization request from a device to utilize a protected resource within a datastore. A control policy extracted from a security node defines an authorized context for the device to utilize the protected resource. The control policy includes a control algorithm comprising one or more conditionals comparing context values to control ranges. Context values are retrieved to form a context dataset. Utilization of the protected resource is authorized when it is determined by the control algorithm that the context dataset conforms to the authorized context. The security node may organize data into a domain structure that includes a unique identifier, an identity element, a content element, and a context element.
