Abstract: A method and system for adding a caller (102) in a blocked list is provided. The blocked list is stored at a communication server (104). The method includes receiving (604) a call from the caller (102) at a communication device (108). Further, the method includes receiving (606) a set of inputs at the communication device (108) in response to the call. The set of inputs includes a set of instructions to add the caller (102) in the blocked list. Furthermore, the method includes transmitting (608) a call termination request to the communication server (104). The call termination request includes the set of instructions to add the caller (102) in the blocked list. Transmission of the call termination request initiates addition of the caller (102) in the blocked list at the communication server (104).

Abstract: When a call is received at a first contact center, information is collected about the call. The information can be information that the caller enters through an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, an Automatic Number Identification (ANI), an associated Universal Caller Identification (UCID), other information gathered from the caller, and the like. An identifier associated with a second contact center, such as a Dialed Number Identification Service (DNIS) number, is associated with the information and stored in a shared resource. The call is transferred to the second contact center using the identifier. As the transferred call comes into the second contact center, the second contact center determines if the identifier in the transferred call matches the stored identifier. If so, the information is used in the second contact center for various purposes in supporting the call, such as routing the call in the second contact center.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention comprise a device, system, and method of receiving a phone call to a non-Inward WATS phone number, such as a typical non-toll free phone number, forwarding the phone call to a carrier capable of reading ANI information associated with the call, and providing ANI information to the called party. The providing of ANI information may be by way of forwarding to a toll-free number of a provider and populating caller ID data with ANI information before forwarding to the called party, or by way of forwarding the call to a provider with the ANI information, whereby the provider forwards the call and information gleaned from the ANI information to the called party.

Abstract: A mobile terminal including a communication unit configured to provide a communication function including at least one of an outgoing communication function and an incoming communication function, a controller configured to acquire surrounding data including at least one of image data or sound data corresponding to a surrounding of where the communication function is performed, and to match the acquired surrounding data with communication information indicating a first party of the outgoing function or a second party of the incoming communication function, and a display unit configured to display a communication history including the communication information matched with the surrounding data. Abstract: The present invention is directed to a telephony communication interface device. The device includes a communication transceiver configured to communicate with a remote system via a predetermined communication channel. A control circuit is coupled to the communication transceiver. The control circuit is configured to determine a device operating mode status based on communication transceiver activity. The device operating mode status includes a telephonic communications mode and a remote system communications mode. An interface circuit is coupled to at least one telephone set. The interface circuit is configured to propagate voice telephony signals between the at least one telephone set and a telephony network in a telephonic communications mode and propagate voice intercom signals between the at least one telephone set and the communication transceiver in the remote system communications mode.

Abstract: A system and method for estimating a location of wireless devices transmitting signals on channels in a communications system having a plurality of nodes and a plurality of Location Measurement Units (“LMU”). A first plurality of signals from a first channel may be received by one or more of the plural LMUs and a second plurality of signals from a second channel may be received by one or more of the plural LMUs. The received first and second plural signals may be converted into first and second digital signals and then divided into first and second sets of frequency bins, the first and second sets of bins corresponding to the respective channel. Each of the divided signals may be correlated with one or more reference signals, and the correlated signals stored in a database for estimating a location of one or more wireless devices.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for verifying a user alias. The method comprises: a calling terminal inserting a set alias and a calling user's own number into calling information when calling a called terminal; after the called terminal receives the calling information, when the calling terminal registers calling number display restriction or when the calling terminal cancels the calling number display restriction and the calling number of the calling is inconsistent with a calling user number stored locally in the called terminal, determining whether the calling user's own number matches successfully with the calling user number stored locally in the called terminal to display in different modes when the matching is successful and unsuccessful, respectively.

Abstract: A private branch exchange (PBX) server determines a caller identification (ID) of a voice call received from a first phone system attempting to reach a second phone system. The PBX server transmits a request to a remote phone number resolving server for categorizing the caller ID. In response to a response received from the remote phone number resolving server indicating one or more categories associated with the caller ID, the PBX server processes the voice call based on the one or more categories.

Abstract: A method for screening and routing incoming telephone calls includes extracting caller identification information from an incoming telephone call, providing a plurality of tables including a primary ring table, a secondary ring table, a voicemail table, a block call table, and a forward call table, and determining which one of the plurality of tables includes the caller identification information. The method further includes sending the incoming telephone call directly to voicemail without having a ring tone if the voicemail table includes the caller identification information, blocking the incoming telephone call if the block call table includes the caller identification information, and forwarding the incoming telephone call if the forward call table includes the caller identification information.

Abstract: A data store associates a first identity recognizable in a first network with a second identity recognizable in a second network for both a user and a calling entity. Both identities for the calling entity are provided to the receiving device via the second network. A node receives the communication event with the second identity for the calling entity, the communication event being addressed with the second identity of the user. The data store is queried with the second identities of the calling entity and user to determine the first identities of the calling entity and user. The receiving device receives the communication event with the first identity for the calling entity via the first network, the communication event being addressed with the first identity of the user. The receiving device determines the second identity of the calling entity using the first identity of the calling entity.

Abstract: A system and method for providing location information to a public safety answering point from a softphone may include receiving, at a network access point, an emergency 911 call from the softphone. The emergency 911 call may be communicated to a public safety answering point. In response to a call connection message being received, an address location of the network access point to which the softphone is in communication in placing the emergency 911 call to the public safety answering point may be communicated in a type II caller ID data packet. The softphone may generate the type II caller ID data packet with the address location in a data field, such as a data field typically used for name information of a caller.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer program products provide dynamic replacement communication identification (ID) service. A request is received from a user for dynamic replacement communication ID from a current location of the user. The user requesting dynamic replacement communication ID is authenticated. A user profile of the user requesting dynamic replacement communication ID is retrieved. A current profile of the current location is replaced with the user profile of the user.

Abstract: To associate an email with a tag, an email client may receive a tag corresponding to an email attribute, wherein the email attribute is an historical email tag. The email client stores the tag to a record keyed by the email attribute, and receives an email tag request, the email tag request having a word attribute, and looks up at least one record based on the word attribute to find the tag. The email client presents the tag of the at least one record to a user. The email client receives a user selection of the tag to form a selected tag, and sends an email having the selected tag as part of the email header, wherein the email comprises the email tag request.

Abstract: A methodology wherein a voice service client application on one or more phones and a voice service server perform a call set-up process through a mix of an external data channel and a normal voice channel that enables call subject information to be effectively provided by a calling party to a called party so that it can be displayed along with other caller ID information.

Abstract: An embodiment includes one or more call systems and a computer processor communicatively coupled with the one or more call systems. The computer processor is configured to receive a communication from a first call system of the one or more call systems. The computer processor is further configured to retrieve recipient data from a second call system of the one or more call systems. The recipient data includes one or more receiver conditions. The computer is additionally configured to determine if the one or more receiver conditions have been met, and if they have been met, the computer processor forwards the communication to the second call system.

Abstract: An apparatus, and an associated method, facilitates operation of a telephonic device at which a voice call or other communication is to be terminated. When the terminating communication is detected, an attempt is made to determine the name identity of the originator of the communication. If the identity cannot be ascertained, a request is made for additional information to be sent. The additional information includes, for instance, voice data entered by the originator that identifies the originator by name. The additional information is returned to the terminating device and the additional information is displayed, facilitating selection of whether to accept the terminating communication.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are concerned with processing data relating to calendar entries. In one embodiment processing includes detecting a correspondence between a telephone number and at least one characteristic of a calendar workspace item, and processing data relating to a communications event identified by the telephone number on the basis of the detected correspondence. The processing may include triggering a notification for an incoming communications event, such as a telephone call or text message, that is received by a telephony device. In another embodiment processing includes detecting a correspondence between at least one characteristic of a stored communications event workspace item and at least one characteristic of a calendar workspace item, and processing data relating to the communications event on the basis of the detected correspondence. Abstract: The present invention provides a method for supporting flexible display names in a communication network. One embodiment of the method includes selecting, at a network entity, one of a plurality of display names for a calling party in response to receiving a request to initiate a call from the calling party to a called party. This embodiment of the method also includes transmitting a message from the network entity towards the called party. The message includes the selected display name for the calling party.

Communication is provided through said network between said calling terminal and an answering terminal identified using said answering party identification data. Said answering party identification data is made available to at least one service control point in said network for identifying services associated with said answering terminal. The invention further relates to a switching device for use with said method.

The network element then retrieves an identification of the transmitting device from the first SET-UP message and obtains a first Caller Line Identification (CLI) of the transmitting device corresponding to the retrieved identification. Further, the network element determines whether the first SET-UP message includes a first indicator and retrieves a data message from the first SET-UP message when the first SET-UP message includes a first indicator. The network element then adds the data message, the first CLI, and a second indicator to a second SET-UP message and transmits the second SET-UP message to a receiving device during the same call set up, for displaying a customized CLI on the receiving device, thereby alerting a user of the receiving device of an incoming call.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a customized CLI comprise receiving, by a network element, a first message from a transmitting device during a call set up. The network element then retrieves an identification of the transmitting device from the first message and obtains a first Caller Line Identification (CLI) of the transmitting device corresponding to the retrieved identification. Further, the network element determines whether the first message includes a first indicator and retrieves a data message from the first message when the first message includes a first indicator. The network element then adds the data message, the first CLI, and a second indicator to a second message and transmits the second message to a receiving device during the same call set up, for displaying a customized CLI on the receiving device, thereby alerting a user of the receiving device of an incoming call.

An Intelligent Call Management (ICM) structure receiving information of a dialed toll number is able to convert the information into a compatible database request to determine whether the call to the toll number is allowed to be completed based on information retrieved from the database.

The method includes modifying a calling party identification (ID) privacy indicator associated with a received telephone call directed to a toll-free number. Abstract: An improved handheld electronic device and an associated method provide an improved call log that presents information relating to logged phone calls in a collapsed manner, meaning that for each phone number having a call stored in the memory of the device, only the most recent in time call is listed on the call log. An improved handheld electronic device and an associated method also provide a call history for any phone call from the improved call log that is selected by the user. The call history includes a listing of all of the calls stored by the device that are associated with the selected call log call.

Abstract: A cellular telephone receives a wireless signal containing Caller ID and a picture or video message. The picture or video message may be encrypted, compressed or encoded. The received Caller ID may be used to establish the identity of the originator of the picture or video message.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for providing Key Word Programmable Caller ID Screening services. One method monitors a telephone call for a key word call screening request. The telephone call is from a calling telephone number to a called telephone number. An action is taken in response to the key word call screening request. The action could be playing an announcement, terminating the connection, forwarding to voice mail, storing, adding, updating, and or blocking incoming communications matching the ICLID information and/or subscriber identified alphanumeric information. The call screening request may comprise a Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency, a softkey entry, and/or a data message. Subsequent incoming calls from the calling telephone number are characterized as undesirable and are screened from alerting or otherwise establishing a communications connection to the called telephone number.

Abstract: A system and method providing real-time position information of one party to another party by utilizing a conventional telecommunication network system (e.g., the telephone network, a mobile telecommunications network, a computer network, or the Internet). The present invention allows a caller and a receiver of a telephone call to provide to and receive from each other position information related to the caller and/or receiver's location, including address information, GPA coordinates, nearby fixed locations (e.g., a parking structure), etc. The present invention allows a caller and receiver to retrieve routing instructions or maps for travelling to/from one another. A party may locate the position of another party via entry of the other party's unique identifier (e.g., a phone number of the other party's mobile phone). The position information of a party may be concurrently delivered to another party's computer terminal whereby the other party can process the information in further detail.

Abstract: A system and method for a selective ring silencer that prevents people from having to listen to the telephone ring on and on with nuisance calls. The ringer silencer can be: (1) discretely constructed from a telephone, (2) part of a telecommunication device, or (3) part of a central telephone network construction. A receiver demodulates an incoming call. Control logic reads at least a portion of the called identification (CID) data and determines an action based on the reading. A switch in communication with the control logic is actuated to a first state that allows the communication data to be output from the ring silencer, and a second state that blocks the communication data from being output from the ring silencer to a user's communication device. The control logic blocks toll-free area codes originated calls from ringing a user's telephone, optionally forwarding the call to a voice mail module.

Abstract: An emergency call processing apparatus and method in a private switching system according to certain embodiments is available for some emergency telephone numbers, such as 119 and 911, set for emergency. A private branch exchange has more extension subscribers than office lines, and thus the extension subscribers share the office lines. If an emergency outgoing call is attempted when all of the office lines are busy, priority is given to the emergency outgoing call, and one of the busy lines is forcibly intercepted so that the emergency outgoing call can be processed. In particular, when an extension terminal is set in a locking mode, an emergency call can be processed without inconveniently disabling the locking mode through the input of a password, and thus the emergency can be easily coped with. Then, the emergency outgoing call can be easily processed, even if all of the lines are busy or the subscriber terminal is set in the locking mode.
