Abstract: A method, a communication device and a computer program product for displaying caller information are provided. In the present method, when the communication device is in a communication mode, a user interface of the communication mode is displayed, wherein the user interface comprises at least one on-screen button having caller information displaying function. Then, a selecting operation performed on one of the on-screen buttons by a user of the communication device is received, the caller information associated with a caller is retrieved according to the selected on-screen button, and the retrieved caller information is displayed. Thereby, in the present application, the user of the communication device can obtain information about the caller at the same time when the user is communicating with the caller, and accordingly communication is made more convenient.

Abstract: A method in one embodiment includes receiving, by a mobile client device, an incoming call sent by a caller, a caller ID being associated with the incoming call. A node connected to a packet-based network is accessed to obtain information about the caller. Information about the caller is then received from the node by the mobile client device. This information is applied to a set of client rules that selects a specific ring tone from a plurality of ring tones stored on the mobile client device. Finally, the specific ring tone is generated on the mobile client device to announce the incoming call.

Abstract: The present invention is related to telecommunications, and in particular to systems and methods of using telecommunication services for user authentication. Account information is stored for a user, the account information including at least a first phone number associated with the user. A user order is received. A verification phone call is received from the user, the call including charge phone number information. The charge number information is compared to the first phone number to authenticate that the user is associated with the first phone number. Based at least in part on the comparison, the user order is selectively caused to be fulfilled.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is provided for returning missed phone calls. In this method, a missed phone call is detected and a phone number associated with the missed phone call is identified. A physical button located on an apparatus is assigned to the phone number. An indication that the missed phone call is associated with the physical button is initiated and after which, a single selection of the physical button is detected. A phone call to the phone number is then initiated in response to the detection of the single selection.

Abstract: A system and method of saving and delivering a voice memo or text memo to identify incoming calls is provided. A user of the system of the invention is given the option of recording a memo on the calls he or she has received through a prompt on a telecommunication device. The user can choose to record a voice memo or text memo after each call. The memos are saved in connection with caller id information pertaining to the number from which the call was placed. When a user of the system receives a call from a number that has a memo saved in relation thereto, the user will be prompted to hear, and may listen to, the voice memo before answering the call. If the memo is in text form, the user can configure the system to provide various processing options. In one processing option, a text to speech audio presentation of the text of the memo is made available to permit the message to be heard over a telephone or networked audio capable PDA device.

The device may request network provisioning information, associated with the wired network, identifying service activation parameters. The caller information may include caller identification information. Abstract: A system and a method for conducting a telephone survey, which reduce the number of calls that are not answered by survey participants, are provided. The system comprises means of making outbound telephone calls with a selected call display number, storing a call record for each outbound call, and routing inbound telephone calls to a voicemail or interactive phone system if the inbound calling number is identifiable from the stored call records. The method comprises the steps of making outbound calls to survey phone numbers with the call display set to a local phone number, storing a call record with each outbound call, and routing inbound calls to a voicemail or interactive phone system if the inbound call number is identifiable from the stored call records.

Abstract: A method and a system for identifying a prank call, a client, a server, and a storage medium, and the method includes: sending a questionable telephone number to a server through a network instant message by a client; receiving a query result on the questionable telephone number from the server; adding the questionable telephone number to a contact blacklist when the query result shows that the questionable telephone number is a malicious telephone number; and identifying whether an incoming call from the questionable telephone number is a prank call according to the contact blacklist when an incoming call from the questionable telephone number is received. The present disclosure allows for effective identification of prank calls.

Abstract: A method of providing originator information to an intended communications recipient during establishment of a communication session includes reading, at an originating communication terminal, originator information carried by a device located with the originating terminal, and including at least some of the originator information in at least one signal transmitted by the originating communication terminal during establishment of the communication session for transmission to a communication terminal associated with the intended communications recipient.

Abstract: A system and method for determining a correct international telephone number for a contact, based on the location of the user, the optional location of the contact and a set of rules representing the formats used in the two locations. The location information may be entered by the user or identified using the number and the set of rules. Once the location information is identified, the interface may determine the correct number to dial using the set of rules to produce a correct international telephone number. The correct telephone number may then be associated with the contact so that the correct telephone number is dialed upon receiving a user input to call the contact.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for providing telephone number sharing services to subscribers over public switched telephone network or data network. The disclosed system maintains a bank of reusable caller identifiers (IDs). The system receives call details of a call from a subscriber of the system. The call details include a caller identifier (ID) preference of the subscriber and a called number corresponding to the called party. The system stores the call details in a database. The system determines whether the call from the subscriber is a first call to the called number. In response to the call being the first call to the called number, the system assigns a call ID from the bank of reusable caller IDs that satisfies the reusable caller ID preference of the subscriber, and connects the call to the called number along with the caller ID.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for providing caller identification services to an Internet Protocol-enabled device are provided. The method includes receiving a communication request from a caller device over a voice network, the communication request including a caller party number, mapping a called party number to an Internet Protocol-enabled device address of a called party, and sending the caller party number to the Internet Protocol-enabled device address corresponding to the called party number.

Abstract: The risk that an incoming emergency call is a prank call is presented in real-time to the called party, in the form of, e.g., an index of suspicion. An index of suspicion aggregation server quantifies, qualifies, and aggregates risks, suspicions, and/or threats relevant to a call center to formulate a scale of suspicion. Metrics are acquired (e.g., calling device location information, device configuration information, caller information, etc.) relevant to each communications request made to a call center and uses acquired metrics to rate communications requests based on a known scale of suspicion. Once a suspicion rating is determined for a communications request, the communications request is routed to a relevant call-taker terminal, as is the index of suspicion for that incoming call. Real time presentation of the index of suspicion enables call-takers to make better call-handling decisions based on risk analysis and historical call data associated with a given caller.

Abstract: Detailed information about a party can be provided during interparty communication. Data-capable mobile devices query at least a public database to retrieve information about a set of parties engaged in communication. The results of the database query are employed to provide detailed caller identification and detail functionality to telephones or communication devices not utilizing traditional landlines or commercial caller identification service. Storage can be included to include address book function, query caching, and user preferences. An interface can be provided to facilitate display of rich caller identification information. The interface can further update displayed information without user input, or provide user selection control to request more information on a selected portion of displayed information. These features can be applied to determine the information about a party that is either receiving a communication or initiating a communication.

Abstract: Techniques are described for better ensuring that calls or transmissions directed to a subscriber or endpoint to which a number was previously assigned are not received by a new subscriber or endpoint. According to one class of implementations, a telephony platform maintains a registry that associates a secondary identifier with each phone number that is currently assigned to a subscriber. The identifier may point to and/or include any of a variety of information that maps to the current subscriber. When a calling party initiates a call to an assigned number, an additional identifier is transmitted with the call routing information that corresponds to the entity or endpoint to which the call is directed. The telephony platform makes call routing decisions based on the correspondence of this information with the information maintained in the registry.

Abstract: Telemarketer identity verification uses an application executing in a smartphone or tablet device. When a call is received, the application takes the number and attempts to verify whether it is associated with a known telemarketer. If so, the application queries the telemarketing service for additional data about the call. The service responds with additional details, for example, the subject of the intended call. The user is then provided an notification that an incoming call is being received. At this point, the user knows that the call is from a telemarketer, that the telemarketer has been verified, and the nature of the call. The visual representation may include a “decline” button that may be selected by the user. If the call is declined, the client application may then notify the telemarketing service to that effect.

Abstract: An anti-CLI spoofing procedure controls access of a mobile communication device to a service on a communication network via a connection from outside the network. The device issues a unique identifier for identifying the device to the service. If the identifier is received from outside the network and over a secure signaling channel, a first time stamp is stored in a memory, representative of a first time of receipt of the identifier. The connection is set up and then a second time stamp is generated representative of a second time at which the connection is established to a node on the network. A first instruction is issued to establish unconditional access to the service if a time difference between the time stamps falls within a predetermined time window. A second instruction is issued to grant conditional access to the service if the time difference falls outside the predetermined window.

Abstract: A “customized” caller ID service platform is utilized within a telecommunications network (which may be the PSTN, an IP network, or any other network for supporting voice communication) to allow for the caller ID information transmitted to a called party to be tailored to the specific called party. A database within the platform is configured to store a listing of registered subscribers and a set of “pre-defined called numbers” associated with each subscriber. For each listed number, the subscriber provides the specific customized information (for example, an account number) that is to be transmitted to that specific called number as the caller ID information. A registered subscriber is able to gain access to the platform and modify the entries as need be.

One method monitors a telephone call for a call screening request for commercial, residential, and other identifiers of incoming calls. An action is taken in response to the call screening request. Abstract: A system and method for automatic assignment of outbound and inbound call identity between a salesperson and a client is disclosed. For automatic assignment of outbound call identity between a salesperson and a client, a salesperson places a call to the telephone number of the client. A phone server matches a sales group to a salesperson and an entered sales group and an NPA (i.e., area code) of the client in a database. If a match is found, the phone server substitutes a replacement caller ID for actual caller ID of the salesperson. When the client answers the call, the replacement caller ID or default caller ID is displayed on client's phone. For automatic assignment of inbound call identity between a client and a salesperson, the client places a call using the replacement caller ID. The phone server searches the database for a sales group that matches the DID of the replacement caller ID.

The device determines whether a communication from the device is restricted by comparing a user selected code of a communication attempt from the device with one or more codes of the communication restriction information. When the communication is determined to be restricted based on the comparing, the device disallows the communication via the cellular network. When the communication is determined to be unrestricted based on the comparing, the device allows the communication via the cellular network.
