    Abstract: Bearing arrangement for a shaft rotatable around an axis of rotation comprising a bearing including an inner bearing part for coupling to an end of the shaft and an outer bearing part for coupling to a mounting structure, and a retaining and pivoting element, which is connectable to the inner bearing part or the outer bearing part, wherein the retaining and pivoting element is designed for securing the end of the shaft against movement in a direction in parallel with the axis of rotation (4) in relation to the bearing and for permitting the end of the shaft to be pivoted with respect to the axis of rotation, and an arrangement comprising the bearing arrangement and the shaft, as well as an oscillator comprising said arrangement.

    Abstract: A load transfer arrangement is provided to act as a stabiliser for utilisation in centring rotational instabilities which may occur in rotor devices such as those within a gas turbine engine. By providing a fixed screw thread path which comprises a groove having channels and having constrictions and which define clearance crowns an acceptable eccentricity range it is possible to slow screw thread driving motion and therefore load transfer only to the positions where the rotational eccentricity enters tapers leading to the constrictions. In such circumstances an orbit thread is then progressively brought into confinement and continuous engagement with a fixed screw thread defined by crowns of channels of the fixed screw thread path defined by the continuous groove through the channels. In such circumstances wide eccentricity is allowed initially but as rotational speed reduces greater and more continuous driving motions are provided whilst avoiding excessive loading during early stage operation.

A spherical interface between the labyrinth seal and floating stator may allow the labyrinth seal to pivot with respect to the floating stator during angular misalignment of a shaft around which the pressure balanced shaft seal assembly is mounted. A pressure balancing annular channel formed in the floating stator allows pressurized seal fluid to balance the axial pressure exerted on the floating stator by the process fluid.
