Self-loading Or Unloading Vehicles Patents (Class 414/467)
  • Patent number: 4473016
Abstract: An agricultural particulate feeder controls the rate of particulate distribution to a surface being worked. The particlate feeder comprises a hopper with a sliding door over a discharge outlet at a lower end of the hopper. A frame supports the particulate feeder and has an elongated tube extending longitudinally under the discharge outlet of the hopper, the tube forming an element of the frame. A particulate metering cylinder is positioned between the outlet and door of the hopper and a particulate inlet in the elongated tube and is rotatably mounted on a drive shaft. A housing encases the cylinder and forms an enclosure connecting the hopper outlet and the tube inlet. One side of the housing is removable to allow lateral access to the metering cylinder inside the housing. In addition, longitudinal removal of the drive shaft permits lateral removal of the metering cylinder from the housing.

  • Patent number: 4425064
Abstract: A rail car comprises a movable loading floor for use with a pair of platforms of substantially equal height, the platforms being located on respective opposite longitudinal sides of the rail cars for loading and unloading of trailers, motor vans, passenger cars, etc. The rail car has a recessed chassis bottom between the wheeled support trucks thereof, on which is supported the movable loaded floor for carrying and shipping a trailer. The rotatable loading floor is rotatable from a first position in which the longitudinal axis of the rotatable loading floor coincides with the longitudinal axis of the rail car, to a second position in which the longitudinal axis of the rotatable floor is at a given angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the rail car and in which the ends of the rotatable loading floor overlie respective platforms on opposite sides of the rail car.

  • Patent number: 4419038
Abstract: A foldable hoist assembly has an elongated column with a boom pivotally mounted at its outer end to be moveable from a stored position alongside the column to its operating position. A spindle with radial and thrust bearings in the support column base provides rotary support so that loads suspended from the bottom can be swung over and away from the load bed. The base of the support column is also pivotally mounted on a horizontal support structure affixed to the vehicle chassis, preferably in the position of a bumper below te rear edge of the load bed. With boom stored alongside, the support column is rotated from its upright operating position to be supported horizontally within the support structure leaving the load bed unobstructed.

  • Patent number: 4396341
Abstract: A forklift vehicle is mounted on the rear of a carrier vehicle with the front pneumatic tires of the forklift vehicle received in wheel pockets on the carrier vehicle, and with telescopic links suspending the rear of the forklift vehicle from the rear of the carrier vehicle. The pneumatic tires of the forklift vehicle act as a prime shock absorbing device, absorbing much of the vibration during road travel, thus reducing damage to the forklift vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4340332
Abstract: A boat trailer centering accessory device for fitment to each rear corner of a boat trailer and which is a pair of boom gate frames which can be swung single-handedly and independently from a forward rest position for road transport alongside a trailer and clear of a boat and then rearwardly out over the water, with the trailer on a launching ramp out of the water, to form a centering causeway for a floating boat supported by the water. Each boom gate is formed as a generally quadrilateral shaped closed frame pivotally attached at one corner to a bracket which is mounted rearwardly on the side member of the trailer and is formed as an elongated U-shaped bracket with two short arms connected by a longer arm, one short bracket arm forms a pivot axle for a sleeve bearing mounted on the corner of the boom gate frame, while the longer arm also serves as a stop for limiting the drop height of the frame when it is swung to the forward transport position from the rearward centering position.

  • Patent number: 4313707
Abstract: A trash collection apparatus is described for mounting on a side loading trash collection vehicle. A frame member is extendably secured to the vehicle for movement away from and toward the truck body of the vehicle. A pair of vertically extending guide rails are secured to the frame; each guide rail incorporates a top section that is pivoted about a horizontal axis. A carriage is mounted for movement along the guide rails and incorporates a pair of gripping arms which are pivoted for movement in a horizontal plane to grasp a trash container and are also pivoted for movement in vertical planes for moving to a stowage position. A hydraulic piston and cylinder are utilized to raise the carriage along the guide rails to position the carriage on the top sections of the rails. Hydraulic actuators are provided for tilting the top sections of the rails when the carriage is positioned on the top sections to tip the carriage, gripping arms, and the trash container over the side of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4266795
Abstract: The rear portion of a load hauling flatbed truck and the front portion of a conventional forklift vehicle are provided with structures facilitating towing of the forklift vehicle by the truck to a remote site so that the forklift vehicle is available for loading and/or unloading materials onto or from the flatbed truck. Basically, left and right rocking levers intermediately pivoted adjacent to left and right front corner portions of the forklift vehicle are hydraulically rocked so that the extending front portions of the rocking members engage about engagement structures secured adjacent to the left and right rear corners of the truck and thereby effect a lifting of the entire front portion of the forklift vehicle when the rocking members are rocked downwardly. Appropriate locking pins are inserted to secure the rocking members to the rear corner portions of the towing truck.

  • Patent number: 4226565
Abstract: A system for storage of green fodder and the like includes a cylindrical storage tank removably carried on a trailer which can be towed by a tractor. The frame of the trailer carries a tiltable platform having a rotatable plate on which the tank rests. The frame also carries a vertically movable apparatus for supporting either compaction rollers insertable into the tank top for compressing fodder as it is conveyed into the tank, or an elevator mechanism for lifting the tank away from its bottom cover to expose compacted fodder for removal. The tank is rotated during loading/compaction and removal. Compression of the fodder greatly increases the amount of fodder storable in each tank. After filling the platform is tilted, the tank is removed and can be rolled to a storage location with its axis horizontal.

  • Patent number: 4194867
Abstract: A traversing hoist mechanism driven by a vehicle prime mover is drivingly interconnected with a fluid power drive transmission comprising a pump which is drivingly connected to a pair of fixed displacement hydraulic motors connected in a series arrangement for driving the pumps at the same speed; whereby the fluid power drive transmission effectively moves the hoist trolley assembly fore and aft in addition to raising and lowering a lifting apparatus. A unique control line assembly allows the operator to have complete control of the fluid power drive transmission even while standing on ground level adjacent the rear of the vehicle or at any point along at least one side-wall of the cargo area, thereby permitting greater flexibility of control.
